Armagedden Suitcase
by Magwitch inmy mother let it slip the other day that all the families in their hall are putting together a small suitcase.
inside this suitcase are to be things that you will take with you if given a 5 minute warning that the great tribulation is starting and you need to leave your home.
my father seemed quite embarrassed that this slipped.

'But i hear all sorts of different views in the ministry'
by bohm ini have heard this a couple of times:.
evil apostate: if, for example, a friend of you who wanted to be a mormon said: 'i have studied mormon throughoutly: its history, what it says, what the critics say, and i am sure mr. smith was under divine influence and this is the truth', but what if he had only studied mr. smith from mormon litterature - ie.
what mr. smith himself said about himself, his opposers, etc.. would you really think he had done a throughout examination?.

But seriously...there is so much they teach that is not "in" the Bible. Let's see, if you take a few words from this verse, a few words from another verse in another book, extrapolate them together, click your heels twice, turn around counterclockwise, and divide by the square root of pi - well see, there you have it! It's IN THE BIBLE!

(laughing) - EXACTLY what Amber Rose said. Really? Exactly HOW many in-depth conversations have you had in the ministry where you actually listened without an agenda and had a real conversation where you heard other views? Um? Helloooo??? (sound of crickets chirping)

Brilliant Talk Yesterday
by Violet injust thought i would share this.........a brother who used to be a mercenary before he came into the truth gave the talk at the hall yesterday and he said that the bible was like jehovah's cv.....it told us everything about him.....so we can really know him.. he also said with all the governments and all the rules and regulations in the world, and nothing working at the moment, we should appreciate that jehovah only has 2 laws.............love him above all other things, and love our neighbours..........if only the whole world obeyed those 2 laws there would be peace without the need for armageddon................so its all down to humans why things are going wrong.. if we abandoned the planet tomorrow the earth would repair itself and there would be peace and harmony in nature.......... man has really messed up.. thank goodness we have had the chance to know jehivah and have a hope for the future!!.

First - welcome Violet. Would be nice to know your story? Cause clearly with these being your first posts, your credibility is a wee bit in doubt.
Second - Nelly136 - oh maaaaaan....this isn't who I think it is, is it? Can't I please just hope for the best? Pleeeeeeaaaaaaaaseeeee??? ;)
And thirdly - repost from another thread so this doesn't get tooooo badly hijacked:
Public Service Announcement for those of you who might have missed it:
SOM is mentally ill (look at his member postings and read his history and intro posts) and also believes he is the Faithful and Discreet Slave. He isn't a witness or a troll - he is ill.
By his own admission, he has been kicked off the board many times under different member names. Please have some empathy and kindness for his mental illness and just ignore him. Don't feed into his delusions and keep this going. We can rise above, right???

How do you know the Bible is from God?
by cognac ini really want to believe it, but, sometimes it is very difficult to figure out how it can be from god.
i mean, in the old testament, he seems horrible in some instances.
the adam and eve thing doesn't make to much sense to me.

Hmmm...Re the statement about Babylon being rebuilt - do you believe that because you have been TOLD that? OR because you've actually seen it and been there? Because that kind of thing used to be big for me too - however, if you google it, you will find that is not the case. Saddam Hussein actually preserved part of it, re-built part of it and there is a huge international effort going on right now to restore it. People DO still live in Babylon.

Interesting, isn't it?

How do you release the grudge?
by brainwashed-from-birth ini have got a huge grudge against jehovah and his "organization".
i feel like it has ruined my life and any chance of a relationship with god..(if there is one.
) my immediate family has disowned me along with everyone i was comfortable with my whole life.

I think many of us can identify with the angry. It is natural and normal and part of the grieving process. Are you in a position where you can see a counsellor?

Why Fruit Bats Can't Be JWs
by Georgiegirl inhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33587754/ns/technology_and_science/.
when they do their thing, female chinese fruit bats add oral sex to get the males to prolong the act, scientists now find, suggesting the behavior confers evolutionary benefits.. oral sex, or fellatio, is often used in human foreplay, the researchers noted, but rarely seen in other animals.
as such, there have been few evolutionary reasons given for oral sex to date, and fellatio is largely thought confined to humans, although juvenile members of the chimpanzee-like bonobo do it for play.. now scientists find the short-nosed fruit bat (cynopterus sphinx) routinely engages in oral sex, the first time fellatio has been seen in adult animals other than humans.

Why is the label (or not) important to you?
by Georgiegirl inminimus' thread (plus the massive research i had to do this weekend; my head is still reeling) made me wonder -.
why is labeling your experience with jws as an experience with a "cult" important to you?
there are so many heated opinions on this (for both sides).
