  Gleaning at Bethel

  want to see bethelites act like greedy scavengers?

  just check out the tail end of bethel family breakfast, lunch or dinners.

  for those not familar with this phenomenon, gleaning was when bethelites could basically bring their tupperware dishes down and store up on the leftover meals once the family was dismissed (usually by prayer, except for the bethel dinner).

  Most on this forum are ex-jw's, or jw's trying to get out of the cult. But I'm sure there will be many coming along to answer any questions you may have. There are many here that were JW's for 20, 30 or more years. As for me, just passing through to welcome you as I never really got into this crazy cult and left when I was 18.

  Did you read the whole Bible when you were a JW?

  after an informal poll in my congregation (and many awkward responses) i found out that almost nobody had read the whole bible ever, not even the elders (surprise!).

  brothers and sisters with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years as jws don't know what the bible says.

  so, if god decides that a test is coming, will they pass it?

  Nope, never. Every time I picked it up it was because I had to. I still couldn't tell you the books of the bible or anything else about it. It has to be the most boring reading material ever I love to read but reading the bible is just pure torture!

  this is what darth frosty was talking about in his post the other day (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/149460/1.ashx).

  this is a collection of confidential letters from the watchtower society that were sent to the bodies of elders in the years 1981 through 2006. these are the letters that you were never meant to see or read.. there's all sorts of information in them ranging from the boring and mundian to instructions about how to handle child molesters.. many thanks to darth frosty and others (who i'm not sure can be named) who worked very hard and took risks to collect and scan the information.

  i always thought it was ironic how often they preached against this sort of thing from the platform, then were out in the parking lot trying to sell it to you.

  JW's are suckers for this type of crap. My parents got into Shacklee. We had shacklee products out the wazoo! I wonder if they ever threw that crap in the garbage

  I was just wondering why I hadn't received mine yet Then I went to the mail box and there was a yellow slip from the postman about a package I needed to pick up at the post office. Hmm, whatever could it be? did the post man ring the bell and I didn't hear it? Why can't it fit in the mail box? Maybe it's a late Xmas gift?

  I need to shower and get to the post office, maybe it's my calendar I'll check back if it's the calendar. If not I hope it's a really cool Xmas gift, maybe the laptop I was wishing for

  it's my first jwd birthday today and i just wanted to say a hug thank you to everyone on this board.. i am so glad i joined here, looking back over the last year i know i've come a long way.

  i started out here knowing it wasnt the truth but not sure where to go or what to do.

  throughout this year i've learnt so much about myself and feel i am finally being the person i want to be.
