i was born and raised jw at about the age of sixteen i started to have doubts about my mothers chosen religion (dad is not jw) so started to do some research and decided it wasnt for me.

my mothers still at me about going back though.

I didn't read the whole thread, but yes they do and that's why I keep spending time with them to a minimum. You can't have a decent conversation with them without hearing about the ministry, convention, special talk, how much they love jehoova god, blah, blah blah blah blah!

in today's study watchtower there was, yet again, more demonization of the internet.

although the paragraph purported to be about guarding against pornography, it struck me that they are attempting to kill two birds with one stone here, without mentioning one of the birds by name.

Why is the US so afraid of Social Health Care?

i just don't get why the us is so afraid of social health care, and is so opposed to the canadian and british models.

the plain fact is that there are far more americans without access to health care than the combined populations of sweden, norway, denmark and finland.. a measure of the maturity of any society has to be how it sees fit to re-apportion its wealth.. we are quick to criticise african leaders who line their own pockets but leave the masses in poverty but cannot see that blindly following capitalist principles is much the same.

if we live in a wealthy society then part of that wealth has to be put back into society as a whole.. .

Now having lost power, they have launched a propaganda initiative, planned long ago, to cast doubt on the Democratic president's reforms - which had been vetted by the American people in the last election and endorsed by a significant margin of victory. Their vicious propaganda assault, aided by their previous purchase of their own media empire, is designed to derail healthcare for only one reason: Passage of a successful healthcare package would run President Obama's popularity up the chart and assure not only his reelection in 2012 but an unassailable majority in both houses of Congress post-2010.

That is something the Republicans cannot, will not, allow to happen if they can help it; and they are doing everything in their power to prevent it. Bottom line: This is all about power.

Do/did you like to read Daily Text?

i hated it.

we actually never really did.. once, on vacations, we were with another family, they prepared food on the table for breakfast .... and then nobody could touch it for some 15 minutes, when daddy was reading daily text and asking childish questions ... family members were raising hands and answering .... we all were hungry... watching the food ... and hoping it will soon be over (i dont mean armageddon, i mean daily text...) i felt just like an idiot..... albert.

So this time I prepared a Bible at breakfast (NOT NWT!!!!!) and when my friend was about to pick up DT, I said "Well, lets read some Bible..." and I started reading Matthew.... To prevent him from reading DT I read two chapters slowly while we were eating.... until the breakfast was over.... I just dont like Daily texts
