Are you going to your Company Holiday Party?

mine is saturday at a nice country club... my boyfriend is taking me, though it's not his cup of tea.. he's a really great guy.. our company christmas party used to be at the omni parker house in boston...very formal.

tonight i have an association holiday party... (csi...construction specification institute) it's being held at the ica (institute of contemporary art) in boston.

probably not... I may or may not have a final exam in calculus next Thursday night (when they have the party)... final is optional....but if I can improve my class grade by taking it I will. More important than finger food and drinks....

("finger food" and drinks" is all the email said....and they didnt specify alcohol) at a Chevy's Fresh Mex restaraunt. And that place is a good 40 minutes away from me....

My old boss has a party every year...I didnt go last year because I was still in JW-mind lock..too soon.... they go to a restaraunt, he pays for everything including alcohol.... there were a couple of folks that closed down the restaraunt. .. I worked for him 3 months this year but havent since March..so I dont think I will get an invite... I would probably go to that one (if it doesnt interfere with class)

i love christmas, i don't know if i am going to have a christmas tree this year.

most of my family live in kentucky.. i love decorating the christmas tree.

i have a ten month old cat that gets into everything, eats everything.

8 x-mases in retail burnt me out. If I had kids (or a GF or a wife) that wanted one of course I would.

Since I have none of the above... no.

Besides, if my cat eats my plants, certainly ornaments would be too much for her feline mind to avoid.

I think it stopped
in 2001.

end of 2002 for certain.... that was when the story I shared occurred..it was the last month for the old brown guidebook before going to the red book. I couldnt understand why we were using the old brown in MTS when they knew we were going to the new guidebook the next year....so much for "new light" in the "special MTS"

Should vouchers be used to boost the economy?

such vouchers could be used to purchase goods and services, stimulation the economy,in theory.. in usa,it could be used to purchase cars,reviving the car companies..

I say end the practice of out sourcing jobs overseas. .

Its a macro economy.... we do not live in isolation...if other countries all did that, we might have an even bigger economic problem.

If you want to sell it here has to be assembled here

the last major purchase I made at Walmart (before I quit making major ,..and most minor purchases there) was a TV ...assembled in Arkansas...from foreign made parts.

I was doing good getting a TV that had anything to do with American jobs... and customer service was in Arkansas too...

NO to the vouchers.. that last $600 stimulus check barely made a blip on the radar and boosted the National Debt...nothing like the bailouts of course...

INFRASTRUCTURE..... lots of projects "shovel ready" just waiting for funding... highways, bridges, light rail, utility work...all getting old...ticking time bombs like that bridge in MN.

that would create construction jobs that would then pump money into the economy....still costing the taxpayers..but at least it would be to build something beneficial instead of throwing money into the financial sector shredder...poof..

announcement at service meeting last night

last nite at my parents service meeting an announcement was made regarding the new triple meeting.

they said that no one can go over their allotted time at all during the tms.

if the bell rings you are to stop immediately- not even finishing your sentence.

so sad this was such a big part of my life...all of these fake "urgent" announcements... you woulda thought the Big A was coming...again... so heres a story... possibly a retell..

I was a TMS overseer in my old MTS assignment... someone decided to hide the bell,...because the wife of the Secretary was giving a talk and she loved to hear herself pontificate .....and no one had ever DARED to ring the bell on HER....

so no bell...did they really think that would stop Brother Snakes? Of course not. When her time was up (and I gave her an extra 30 seconds), I intoned loudly: "TIME!" I got the look of death as she redfaced left the stage.

Same sister (who considered herself the "Mother" of everyone in the congregation (More like Mommie Dearest)..... who on the last sister talk of the year (the last year that they allowed public counsel)... I had the audacity to give her a W on audience contact.

During the SM, the sister came back to the literature counter where I was standing going over my service meeting part one more time and loudly started chewing me out... "How dare I give he a W..she has never had a W in her whole life..take that W off her counsel slip..her perfect record was not going to be blemished by that." Understand that the whole congo could hear her because there was no wall dividing the auditorium from the lobby (other than a backstop type wall behind the sound booth) ...her husband came and got her... gave me the look of death...

After the meeting I went to the PO and he started to jump my case....I told him I stood by my W.... the secretary tried again to intercede for his wife..saying I had humiliated his wife... I apologized for any discomfort she had experienced but I had an assignment to carry out ...the job HE had given me when I arrived (which is why his wife never got a W..he was TMSO) because he wanted to keep the secretary job... ..and I did not give special favor to anyone. (well, except a little kid maybe on their first talk..it was never kids I had issue with.lol)

I told the Secretary... "seems like you have a qualification problem." He wanted to know what I meant.... I told him "seems like you have no control over your household... if your wife has an issue with something I say, she is more than welcome to talk to me privately or with you..I have no problem with that......but if she ever tries to humiliate or intimidate me (as if she could..lol) like that in front of others again, I will have your badge." (understand, I was so amused by this whole thing that I was trying not to laugh at how pathetic someone could get so damn upset about a W on the fake school..I was trying not to laugh...so was the PO..though he didnt dare even smirk)

As the world turns I swear.... not long after I left my assignment...., then the secretary and his ~~Mother~~ I mean wife... moved away before he was removed by the CO and moved to florida....

I give benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. I do find it hard to trust people now...actually, more so now ..but its always been tough to trust.

I will never give the FDS the benefit of the doubt again...fool me once, shame on you, fool me ~~twice~~ thousands of times shame on me.

Blood Issue took my mom last night

after years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.

the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.

it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

very sorry for your loss... and another life lost over a senseless unscriptural policy.

As to wearing or not wearing the uniform to the funeral... good thought pro and con made prior to me. If your fellow officers are going to be there in dress uniform, wear yours proudly. If not, then dont... There is no right or wrong on that one. Just know it will cause a stir if you do... but its not about them its about you and your family. but of course, its your call not ours.... do what makes you happy in a very sad time.

I may have told this story, I dunno...the short version

We had a led type light attached to the microphone... looked like part of the mic stand...visible only to the speaker. When any brother went over, the timer had a small remote that turned the light on. The brother was to finish his sentence and then get off (or if another service meeting part after his introduce and get off). Worked very well.
