....you could offer to do one more buff and shine job for them...... and leave really really dark swirly marks on their tile....or melt those suckers down to concrete... esp if you have a propane buffer..those things will make puddles out of tile in no time... (not that I ever personally did that...lol)

my hubby is turning 40 next year.
this apparently is nagging at him pretty bad.
(not too sure why, i mean he looks the exact same as he did the day i met him!.....
I just turned 42... I personally feel better physically at 42 than I did at 22 and 32. (Not that it is attracting any female attention my way.. **sigh**)
As to your hubby... many guys do get bummed out about turning 40. I didnt, but I am not normal (in a lot of ways..lol). You know him better than most...
I and other family members were really looking forward to being a bit obnoxious about his birthday this coming year (like he was to his sister when she turn 40).
Since he gave his sister hell about turning 40, then turnabout is fair play..at least for her...
If you discern he is really sensitive about it..as in a "not looking forward to it" kind of way, then be kind to him.
I mean he looks the exact same as he did the day I met him!..... and that is really HOT)
comments to him like this will go along way to making him feel better .. ..especially if he knows you are sincere and not mocking him...

tuesday sees the last group bookstudy for many.
i know the group that my wife attends will be having a bit of a party afterwards.
even my son ,who is 17 and has not attended the meetings for the past 6 months, says he wants to go on tuesday.

It is a problem for the elderly who don't go out at night. They always attended a morning meeting. It was one of the last traces of intimacy in the meetings of jws
I was thinking about this recently. A lot of the older ones from the heydey of the pre-1975 crowd are dying off now and I never seen much help for them in the congos I was part of (unless...they had money to donate when they died...then they were taken proper care of).
I thought about one elderly sister (90) and her daughter (65) that were faithful to their morning study group for so long....a real foundation (meaning hard workers in their congos...out in field circus all the time until they couldnt anymore)..... but they were not considered "pillars" (meaning they had no money to donate when they die)...so I found it interesting that not much support was ever given to these two.... I hear they are both in nursing homes now... though I dont know if they are in the same one. Sad. I would check in on them, but it broke the mothers heart to know I wasnt going to meetings (she only thought I was "missing" a few...not that I had quit going...)...better not to stir up problems for them.
It is the end of an era..the last remnant of any glimmer of hope that this Book Publishing Corporation had any heart. Lets hope this is the beginning of the end.
Either way, I will never go back.

i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.

So very sorry to hear this sad news. It is a tribute to Ian that in less than 18 hours 6 pages of posters have paid tribute to this kind man (and 1600+ have read) on this thread alone.
Most of us are 1000s of miles away and can only support you and your family from afar, just as he supported many here with his postings. I was a mere lurker back in 03 when he posted his story in the private area of the forum...and since I had not signed up I wouldnt have been able to read it then.. When I finally did read his story it was one more seed planted in my mind that showed me the way out of the WT.
I hope you and your family the best as you get through this difficult time. Losing a father is difficult, (I know I lost mine in 94). You dont get "over" it, but you will get "through" it....

Conversley, it had the opposite effect on me. Their training backfired because I knew there was no way that the presidency of the WTBTS could ever have been god ordained. Subsequent logical questions pulled back the curtain from the wizard.
This was the exact thing that happened to me when I went through the Ministerial Training School (MTS), which is a branch of Gilead...it is modeled after it but puts more emphasis on Organizational procedures than does Gilead. Gilead emphasizes the GB's view of doctrine... MTS emphasizes the GB's view of the Company...
..and did I ever have my eyes opened..it only took another 5 years for me to walk away...for reasons I may share one day...

my company just got many of us a new blackberry curve.
it will take me ages to understand all it can do... camera, video, email, internet, maps, contacts...sheesh..it goes on forever, not to mention the phone and instant messaging..... i keep pushing the wrong button when someone calls...so i disconnect... or get an email and think it's a phone call and try to answer it... and oh...the tiny tiny keypad!.
i'll catch on eventually.... all i can say is that technology has come a very long way!.

the old mill, one of my favorite places to go and take pics was set fire to last night.
since most of it is stone, there is not any real lasting damage, although the roof is gone.. i doubt they will find who did this, what a senseless thing to do.
i have been going to the old mill since i was about 15, living a few blocks from it years ago.
I really enjoyed my trip to the old mill last year with you and RF...I hope they restore the damage...it would be sad to lose such an interesting site.

i am the secretary in the congregation (don't ask) and i wanted to share with you guys the "meat in due season": .
starting jan 2009, the field service report can be sent until the day 20th of the month, instead of the 6th of each month as it is now.
but, like the letter says: "it is not necessary to announce this change to the congregation".
yay for you...I did the job and at the time liked it...it suited my abilities and personality...(staying in the background, but being in the know)
.. now I realize how much "busy" work was involved... what a waste of time... I'd be done with my damn degree by now if not for that time wasting...
but at least you can post all of the insider letters, right?
