so i started this thread on another board too.

we have a sizeable number of people - men and women not in a relationship perhaps here.

ladies - what is it that you want in a relationship emotionally, mentally, sexually, and materially ?

why do men do this?. I have seen it alot .....in and out of the borg..and there is nothing funny about it...there will be that nervous titter of laughter as everyone knows what just happened and hope it goes away real fast..... but you know the girl is humiliated (and that goes for girls doing it to their guys,...equally bad).

If I ever find a gal willing to put up with my silly old self, I would treat her with kindness...genuine kindness and respect leads to trust... and trust is the basis for a gal being my best friend and me hers. My worldly brothers tell me that is my problem..I am too nice. I dont believe in the "bad boy" image...even if I hadnt been a dub..its just not who I am......I couldn't pull it off for long if at all. lol

Anyone that has seen me in person (or seen one of two pics of me on this board) knows I will never make the cover of GQ. So I figure I better make up for what I was not given by taking care of myself. I am not overweight, my BMI is good, I try to eat healthy but am not fanatic about it. I go to the gym occasionally but walk alot for my job.

I give really good massages, but rarely get to give them.

As a JW Did you Feel you Could Fully Trust the Elders ?

i know for many of the 44 years i was in the jw cult from birth - i felt i could.

or should i say i was conditioned to feel that " i should " trust the elders.

as jehovah's witnesses we were all told the elders were " crags in a waterless country " who would be a " spiritual stronghold " for us.

In the back of my mind I wanted to trust the elders..."Jehovah" said so...., but my paranoid self didn't allow it. I grew up not trusting anyone in school..I had a hard time forming friendships because I couldn't trust people (there is a dark story behind that). There were elders I thought I could trust...and I wanted to be like them...and then....

....I became an elder....and sadly, I became just like them...... by definition an elder is self-righteous and judgemental ...its in the job description..... I said I cared but in retrospect, it was only after leaving the Borg that I became a truly caring person..so I have been told. I am still working out who the hell I am now. Right now it is "what you see is what you get" and that is an angry individual....pissed at being...not so much duped..I knew something was off back pre 1995..... definitely knew it post-1995.

One so-called "worldly" friend of mine that I had worked with in the past had lunch with me a few months after I attended my last meeting...and she paid a compliment and a kick in the gut at the same time. She said, "{Snakes}, you are a really nice, funny guy.....I knew you cared about my husband and I when you...{}, but this is the first time I seen what I felt is your real personality...don't ever go back to the cult."

I realized then that my personality had been molded beyond recognition by the cult. Looking back, I wouldn't have trusted me as an elder either. Ironically, a lot of the elderly publishers did trust me. Occasionally, I hear from one of them calling to see if I was coming back. Saddens me I cannot fully tell them the truth and just avoid the calls.

My last attempts at trusting elders were dashed in the last few months. I have written about those incidents here. They are not my friends. I thought they were, but they are not. They would throw me under the bus in negative point zero zero five seconds if they knew I posted on a "so-called" apostate web site or told them how I really felt about the religion I grew up with. I still trusted them as friends if not elders. Based on their last actions, I no longer trust them as friends either.

Searching for names of elders?

i don't know if anyone can help me on this, but my question is this- is there a website in which there is a list of kingdom halls with the names of elders from that congregation in a particular state?

i don't want anyone to go thru too much trouble for me, but i sure wonder if there is.. the reason i ask is because 2 of my brothers in the family are po and elder located in a sothern state that i know.

my curiousity is to know which hall there in, maybe it would give some sort of clues as to whether there on this site.

You could call Patterson (845-306-1000) and ask for Service Dept. When you get them, tell them you are a dub that will be visiting that city on vacation and want the name and maybe number of the PO for that congo or congos... tell them you already have a KH number but no answer.. This will only help if you know which city they are in. If there are a large number of congos in the city, then you might not be able to get the info you need.

If there are a large handful of congos in the city....you can randomly call KHs during meeting times and ask for Bro. So-and-So.

If there is an JW assembly hall within 3-4 hours of the city you are looking at, call the assembly hall during business hours and see if you can find out info that way. You could, if you wanted, even casually ask the brother who is the caretaker if they know Bro. So-and-so..... most assembly hall caretakers know most if not all of the POs in the area. If they want to know why you are asking, have a real good answer worked up ahead of time.

I am not beyond subterfuge. Block your number either way. Theocratic warfare and all that.

I took microeconomics last semester and this semester I am taking the other half..macroeconomics... timely indeed.

Quite honestly, knowledge scares the hell out of me. But better to know than to be in the dark any longer (gee, I wonder where I have heard that from before....hmmmm...can you say Jdubs?....in the dark?).

Yeah, I don't like being in the dark. How many people in the general population do you think are actually going beyond what the Great Messiah Obama is spouting. And yes, I voted for Obabma...lesser of two evils...politicians by nature are wicked...either when they start or after they get in they have to play the game (hmmmm...can you say...elders...play or get the boot?) Even the talking heads on CNN are not truly telling people what they need to hear. CNN, FoxSnooze, and all the rest just tell people enough so they won't dig any further..... Who really takes the time to dig into the basics of economics? 1 in 1000?, 10,000? I didn't before taking those classes.

Funny that article Warlock posted talks about Keynesian economics... same guy I wrote about earlier today.... hippos on the titanic? Yep...it is going to sink anyway, lets just make it happen faster.

Best File/Disk Recovery Program

due to a series of blunders, i munched the data on my hard disk, and my backup.

gonna try and recover the stuff.

help on which is/are the best programs for this is appreciated.

You don't say if you are using Windows or Mac OS or what version... or what you meant by "munched" data.....

Just today I was reading a computer magazine and they recommend a free program called FreeUndelete.

A couple of things.. FIRST: quit using the computer that has the data you want to recover. Every time you use it you risk the computer overwriting the data. The data may still be there, it is just that those particular sectors of the hard drive have been flagged by the MFT (Master File Table..think of it as a table of contents for a book) as available to use for new data. This software looks for those flags and then sees where the actual data is stored (all over your hard drive). It then reassembles the data into new files...and you can see what was recoverable and what was not.

Second you will need to download the undelete software to another computer (for reasons above). You can then transfer the software to a USB jump drive. Then remove the USB drive with the undelete software from the second computer and plug it into the computer with the hard drive you want to recover data. Run the program from the USB drive and follow the instructions.

Third... BACKUP the data to yet another external hard drive (or web based storage service). I lost 10 years of Money data because my hard drive and my floppy (3.5 in) disk...both of them...were garbage.... after that I quit balancing my checkbook. I do my budget in Excel.

...the magazine that I got this from also has a Help Desk for subscribers that I have found to be very reliable...so if the publishers are recommending this software I would trust it. Haven't had need for it yet, but glad it is there. Hope this is helpful.

If you know about computers put your hand up

cos i need some help as i don't trust my it guy at all.. my email totally crashed on me today - i noticed the pee cee getting slower and slower and then it switched itself and restarted.

i rebooted after that again...just in case.

when i went into my mail everything that was in my inbox and subsequent folders opened under that had disappeared along with everything in my sent items.

I do not use Outlook in any form. When Microshaft tries to download "updates" for Outlook, I don't allow it.

Answer to questions 2 and 3 yes.

Answer to question 1. there are commercial and free versions of software out there that are called dbx readers that would assist you in recovering email files. The commercial version I seen was under $30 per license...but your company should buy it not you. As to the freeware versions, just be careful. Either way, it doesn't sound like you should be messing with those programs..your idiot IT guy should be... and since it is business related, all of that should have been backed up on mirror servers every night. A good security protocol is for IT to have the system take a "picture" of your hard drive (and the network drives) once a day and store it off site each day...so it can be restored if something goes awry. Apparently this is not happening at your place of employ...penny wise pound foolish indeed.

Yeah, you probably should upgrade that hard drive. 40GB is nothing these days. At the very least as someone said, back up your important files. A USB thumbdrive is cheap and easy to transfer data back and forth. (although a proper IT department would block access to USB ports for security reasons to keep business files from walking out the door).

I use an old version of JUNO email for my home and have ever since the Beta version of 1.0. I have literally thousands of emails saved...but there is a point in which the file that holds all of them does get corrupted. Then it just dumps all of the individual files into one file and then it is hell to sort. I found that problem went away when I upgraded from a 40GB hard drive to a 250GB hard drive. Hasnt crashed in 2 years....knock on wood. I back up but not often enough.

So hard drive size might be part of the problem...constantly overwriting old files... solution: pimp slap your IT guy. ...just sayin'.

Reporting feild servie time via email

our hallnow allows you to report your time via email, anyone else do this?.

i kinda takes the sheparding out of the whole thing, doesn't.. not that i am complaining, but aren't the service overseers supose to talk with you so they know how you're doing?.

I encouraged it when I was a secretary.

I gave each book study overseer a paper copy of a list generated by my database .... they could either turn it in to me with the paper slips or some of them said they wanted it via email and they could email it back...it was great... I could always pick up the paper copies for back up at the next meeting.

fairly soon, i had the technically capable publishers emailing the overseers individually and the technically capable overseers emailing me collective lists....

either way, I only had 5 group lists not 100 individual slips to deal with. I kept he slips for a few months as back up for the CO who insisted on them. I had one elder (ironically a former secretary) that resisted the whole arrangement at first. I told him "you of all people should like this arrangement you used to be a secretary",...... he wanted me to deal with 100 people instead of him dealing with 15 or 20. I told him "go be a shepherd"...lol

soooo glad I dont deal with those children anymore. I would be a lousy manager.
