  Yes, of course. Witnesses are not evil, they are controlled. Now when I hear of child abusers, rapists and co getting cancer et all (not that they ever seem to be affected by it) thats a different story

  Books that SHOULD be movies?

  i just finished reading "mammoth" by john varley.

  a sci-fi thriller in which a mammoth is found frozen in northern alaska, along with the frozen bodies of a man and woman.

  however, as they are uncovered, it is seen that the man is wearing a wristwatch.

  i've been a lurker for awhile.

  my boyfriend is agnostic and hates jws (or "johos," as he calls them) and i just feel so torn.

  Good idea never to go back. Don't bother mentioning anything about disassociating yourself since all that is doing is telling them that they still have some kind of hold over your life, when they obviously do not. I have toyed with the idea also, but what is the point?

  The appeal to your emotion made by your mother shown some desperation. To get a 6 year old child to do it is crazy, especially your child. Don't feel torn, you have your own life now and you don't want it to include the Witnesses. Your mother should respect that - although getting her to will be a different story!

  Yes, the old Ad Hominem.. I think every ex Witness is aware of them after In Search of Christian Freedom! Well, that's where I first read about them anyway! There is a list on the net of the many forms of false argumentations, and upon reading it, one wonders whether it is worth it to construct any kind of argument whatsoever!

  Actually Zico, I seem to recall a time in my rebellious 'questioning' time towards the end of my JW shelf life that I approached a Ministerial Servant and asked him if the WT said fly a plane into a building, would he do it? He responded, always, 'but they would never ask me to do that', but never 'no I wouldn't'... and then came the personal attacks on me!

  Yes - it seems as though Jehovah has always been thousands of years behind Science. Before carbon dating and what not, Jehovahites believed that the earth was only 6000 years old; and any argument otherwise was classed as heresy!

  Good point Gill, that's made me look at it in a new light. Although I still believe they are evil; but I guess fear has a lot to do with it, yes.
