  Counting Time

  i don't know about anyone else but this could be the source of major contention between dubs in my halls.

  you had those who started their time as soon as you pulled out of the hall parking lot (me), those who counted from the first knock at the door or laundry mat visited, and the die hards who didn't start until they actually spoke to someone(my sister).

  my sister and i would go round and round about this, i finally just pretended to start my time when she did just to shut her up.

  Counting time has and is always an issue with the friends in the Organization. I remember that when I served as a Special Pioneer(when the monthly hr requirement was 150), the C.O. advised me to count when I left my home. It literally would take me 45 min's to walk to my territory in those days. I therefore felt in good conscience that I was in the ministry at that time and so felt confortable counting the time.

  As far as breaks are concerned, I reasoned that in the world we were given 15 minutes break as paid, wouldn't the God that I serve be more understanding? So there were times that I felt in good conscience to count that as well. Others may just be against that reasoning, but that's ok.

  You can either be a Legalist(stick precisely to the law), or a Loyalist (understand the meaning of the law).There is room for both in the Org.

  I'm confused- Does it mean that I stumble someone if I drink Coffee?

  i was reading the post from truth seeker on the april 15 wt.

  i went a little farther in the article and noticed the q& a indicating that some in the congregation may choose to abstain from cafeine.. this kind of reminds me of the hotdog incident, back in the 60's when we wouldn't be allowed to eat a hotdog because it offended some brothers and sisters with weaker consciences (they believed that hot dog weiners had blood in them).

  so we became closet hotdog eaters for awhile.

  I was reading the post from Truth Seeker on the April 15 WT. I went a little farther in the article and noticed the Q& A indicating that some in the congregation may choose to abstain from cafeine.

  Why can't we just learn to get along (famous words of Rodney King)?

  i heard that stefano giacobbe,(very prominent district overseer) has left the "truf".

  is this a rumor or fact?

  This brother currently lives in Italy. He has had some very serious physical health problems that have caused him to go into a deep depression.

  While under this stress, he ceased to serve as an Elder. He still attends the meetings when able, and visits his son who currently serves at Bethel.

  I've enjoyed reading your post, since I also walked away from a similar experience.

  You surely exemplified courage to allow your children to pursue some of the things that are not harmful, but could benefit them in their future, knowing that it would meet some resistance from the congregation. Afterall, you're not serving as an Elder anymore, why should you and your family be under the same microscope?

  Those brothers who had met with you are probably under pressure to do so, what a sad thing to see, when the Jan 1 Watchtower 2007 tells us to widen out in love. How can such ones read/write this material and get it so wrong in it's application?

  Hang in there, and doing so will demonstrate to your family, who you show is the most important to you, and not some misconception that some over righteous ones may try to pressure you into.

  Reading the Watchtower is not what it's cracked up to be. This is just the silling games that the ORG tries to use in motivating the congregations to be on board. You have shown that you choose not to sell your childrens happiness in exchange for reading some paragraphs in an audience that wants the study to finish fast.

  i wish to remove myself from the tms.

  i can't stand it any longer.

  i am never out in service (i still turn in "informal" time) i still attend the meetings.

  I know that in a congregation, the TMS overseer's wife has asked to be removed from the school. She was granted her wish.

  It was probably due to stress, and this would be a kindness to allow her or others to overburden themselves if the TMS school proves to be stressful.

  The TMS is a voluntary school, sure you need to be a publisher to enter it, but it still is voluntary.

  Eph 6:15 Does this mean we have to preach to be protected?

  our speaker who gave the public talk used this scripture to indicate that unless we have a good habit of preaching then we are not keeping our spiritual armor in good shape.

  i'm wondering if there is a better, logical explanation for that verse?

  would anyone know of any?

  Thanks for your answers.

  There was some very good expressions made, that are helpful.

  I'm from Canada.. the province of Ontario.

  I was an elder and served over two decades, but, lately it hasn't been easy.

  I want to express my thanks for some of the expressions that I've read from time although I don't read this read this form two often. I have many friends and family that share our faith. Many of them question some of the ideas that come out of the publications .. but we just grin and bear it.

  It's good that many receive some help, and answers to what seems to be puzzling at times to bear.
