i haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 1998. back then, the change in the 1914 "generation" teaching was still sinking in and the "mood" then was one of confusion and head-scratching about what it all meant.. it is difficult for me to imagine how the "mood" now could be anything other than one of disappointment and doubt...even if it is not openly expressed.. do you think at some point there will be critical mass of doubts (and doubters) that will just start spilling out when dubs realize that others around them feel the same way?.
Speaking of younger men willing to take on responsibility...
When I left 12 years ago younger men were being regularly appointed. However, the willingness to take on responsibility was not always accompanied by conmensurate intelligence. I could be wrong but I suspect that the BORG has also been experiencing some fairly significant brain drain.
As I've said before on other threads, back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s the BORG did attract some fairly smart people. That's done as far as I can tell. The caliber of people who buy into the BORG's BS is probably at an all time low and declining.
as defined here: http://skepdic.com/falsedilemma.html.
the false dilemma (or false dichotomy) is a fallacy of reasoning that omits consideration of all reasonable alternatives.
sometimes called the either-or fallacy, one poses what looks like a true dilemma--i must pick one or the other--when, in fact, there are other viable alternatives.
For those of you interested in formal logic and logical fallacies in argument there is a great book called, "How to Think About Weird Things."
It is a great read and very well written. It discusses, in depth, all of the logical fallacies.

It really is sad seeing that look of despair on the faces of older ones who pinned all of their hopes and dreams on the promises of the BORG.
My ex mother-in-law spent her whole life living for the "new system" and by the time I left it was apparent that she was having serious doubts. In some very rare moments she would let her heart spill....
That was one of a number of things that prompted me to make up mind and leave.
has there been a letter read at the meetings?.
.
maybe this has been discussed?.
Damn, MM...that is hilarious.
That should be on tee shirts for us all to wear while the summer time assemblies are going on.

walked away and never returned.....
Congrats!!!!
And you know what? It just gets better and better the longer you're out.
so jehovah's witnesses came to our door, this is about the fifth time, i always miss them, but they talk to my wife, this time i was home due to the holiday season, the man was an elder, he came with a newbie, thought he would show her "how's its done"), the young women sat there with mouth wide open, as she watched me beat up her elder with his own bible.
well after discussing the scriptures for about 2 hours, (subjects included: salvation, ransom, permission of evil, god's organization), she looked at me and said "amazing, i've never heard it explained quite that way before.".
the elder asked me what religious affiliations i had, i told him, "i am with the associated bible students.
RR,
Great story. You know, you could get something started at the Apostafests with a "I Made THE List" tee shirt.
ever had a blue smoke martini?
it is great not sure what it in it but really pretty and tasty.. kit.
I am pretty much with you guys who skip the vermouth...just unaccompanied on ice, or with a twist, or with blue cheese olives.
As far as vodka goes my favorites are VOX, Ketel One, and Ciroc. Ciroc has such a subtle flavor that it is best with just ice.

Tsk, tsk now Mary. Aren't you being a little harsh on the Nazis? I mean after all, they can't help being outdone by the BORG.
