Thanks, David.
The doc is optimistic that I will regain 90 to 100% of the range of motion.
Are you still regaining range of motion or is 50% all you are going to get?
Which aspects of the rehab were the most beneficial?
some of you guys may remember that last fall i was talking about doing a cross-country bicycle trip.. well, that idea had to be scrapped, at least for a while.. two days before last thanksgiving, i broke my humerus.
and, of course, since i am right handed it was my right arm.
the doc said that it would be long, tedious recovery-- 6 to 8 months.
Thanks, David.

I am 3 + months out now and it has been an excrutiatingly slow and painful recovery. The rehab exercises to regain range of motion are horrible but they have to be done.
This whole experience has given me a whole new outlook on what old people must go through when they suffer various kinds of incapacity.
Every day I can tell that I am improving, but wow it is slow.
and in a kinda funny way........this friend of mine.......who is very close friend of my df'd son and is much younger than me.....he has been dfd for ten years and shunned by his family and really reall misses them......and has been in a longterm gay relationship and i always felt bad for him because there is almost no way to come back in...then fade...if you are in a gay relationship.......so anyway he has heard me trashtalk wt a ton...and seemed to have zero problem with that and griped about his wt issues...... so i call him the other day and immediately respond with some comment about the damm cult.......we he says," wow oompa you prob don't know but i am going to all the meetings again!!
so i am just snap....."wow, that is amazing...i had no idea....are you just going back for family...and then try to fade?
" which is what i just knew had to be the case....and i even mentioned how that would be hard to do with his partner all it would be discovered.......get this....."oompa, i am doing this for me and not my family......they don't even know i am going so don't say anything"........so i am in shock and the more we talk the happier he sounds about da troof....and i mean he is like filled with the holy ghost......so i mentioned how many things we have talked about that they teach that we both dissagree about.......and he says he know they prob have some things wrong but all religions do.
Oompa,
Wow...the poop really hit the fan...huh, buddy. Sometimes the timing on things in life can't possibly be worse, but when that happens you have to recognize it and deal with it.
Sounds like it is time to go. Living life looking over your shoulder and with constant apprehension about when the next shoe will drop is no way to live. Once you bite the bullet and put the B.S. of Dubdom behind you life will begin to improve in ways you can't even imagine.
It's rough at first, but it does get better and better the longer you're out.
Hang in there buddy.
You've got lots of friends here.
All the best,
Alex
And P.S.--I have to respectfully disagree with O.M. Ghost--the Catholic Church isn't nearly as intrusive in its members personal lives as the BORG is.
i just heard this week that the wilmington, vt congregation is being dissolved.
it is here in southern vermont, and i can remember when it was formed, probably about 30 years ago.. the congregation was always troubled, it seems, and there were so many personality conflicts in it that people who lived next to the kingdom hall would travel to the brattleboro, vt congregation to attend meetings!
a good percentage of witnesses that lived in that territory refused to go there and attended other congregations.. it seems that attendance has dwindled down to 20 or so, and so it is being disbanded.
Alrightee then.... one down....how many to go?
leaving wt: if 1914 goes, they cease to be a religion, imo.
but, that's another thread.. since leaving wt said this on another thread........i gave him his "another thread".....is so wish i had walked away in 1995 because right away i knew we had just thrown 1914 out the window......since now there was no timelink to the date........no more the end will come during the lifetime of those alive in 1914. i am afraid i disagree with leaving wt on the thought the religion would fail if they totally dump 1914, only because of their history..... they had staked everything on jesus coming invisibly in 1874 and taught that for about 50 years......then kicked 1874 out the window.....and they stuck around after that.
does anybody know how/why they changed this teaching from jesus coming in 1874 and then decided it was 1914?.....................thanks....................oompa.
Oomps, there was a thread about this very subject a couple of months back.
In fact, if I remember correctly, I think the BORG was still referencing 1874, as the date of Christ's return, as late as 1925.
Somebody on here will know...maybe Blondie or Leolaia.

scandanavian nonbelievers, which is not to say atheists
by peter steinfels .
Why should it come as a surprise that the lack of religious influence in everyday life doesn't make a difference in the moral values that people hold?
One of the most irritating things I deal with is the widespread presumption in the United States that:
1. theism (in particular Christianity) is synonomous with morality
and
2. that agnosicism/atheism/humanist values preclude morality
Both assumptions are patently false. I have to say that most of the agnostics/atheists I know have extremely high, unbending moral values.
screw the left, fork the right.
forget fox news, cnn, msnbc and all of the other zionist controled media outlets.. the truth shall set you free!.

Now it's a hot link....in more ways than one....
first let me say, i've never been a jw and never will become one.
i'd rather stick needles in my eyes.
my son has invited me to his kh to hear the co's talk.
What are the main teachings/doctrines that seem to have a hold on your son?
Generally speaking, the pervasive circular logic that the BORG uses is probably the one of the best starting places.
The cult mentality that they alone are singled out for god's favor is another.
Another suggestion...the website for the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster applies creationist/fundie/millenialist arguments in a way that really exposes how ridiculous they are. You might get some good ideas there. It's at least good for a laugh.
Priest, what can I say, man...
You're just ahead of the curve.
Leolaia,
Doesn't it say something about the fixation/perversion of the BORG leadership when they devote so much time to analyzing sex while claiming to be so spiritually removed from the rest of the world???
i coined this the other day on another thread and it seemed to get a laugh out of a few people.. and since were talking about it, what other great terms could we come up with in the spirit of "the borg," the filthful and disgraceful slavebugger (a fave of mine)......??
?.
I also like Farkel's "Babylon the Grape" and "The Genital Times". "Paradise Erf" is mine :D
The disappearance of genitals could be such a dramatic event that it would replace B.C. v. A.D. or B.C.E. v. C.E.
Time could forever thereafter be divided into A.G. (ante genetalia) v. P.G. (post genetalia)
