MY OBSERVATIONS FROM THE MEMORIAL TONIGHT (just got home)
by Mary inwell, as per usual, the memorial talk bored the hell out of me, but i found it, in one way to be an improvement over last years when they had the most boring speaker on the planet there http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/111544/1.ashx this guy at least knew how to speak.
unfortunately, he didn't have much of a script to work with.. there was the mention of adam sinning and mankind needing a redeemer etc., no mention of when the israelites left egypt though.
that's probably the first year i've ever seen where this hasn't been mentioned.

THE FIRST MEMORIAL AFTER I QUIT I SPENT AN HOUR PULLING A MELTED TURKEY OUT OF A RAINBARREL (I PUT IT OUT THERE IN THE WINTER BECAUSE THE FREEZER WAS FULL), THEN TRYING TO SET IT UP SO IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS READING A WATCHTOWER. I CROSSED IT'S LEGS, STUCK TOOTHPICKS THROUGH THE WT ONTO IT'S LITTLE "HANDS"...MAN...THAT JUST SAID IT ALL FOR ME. A HEADLESS TURKEY. THE IDEA WAS TO PUT IT ON THE KINGDOM HALL SIGN, BUT "FEAR OF MAN" GOT TO ME. TOO BAD.
MY MOST MEMORABLE MEMORIAL (REDUNDANT?) WOULD BE WHEN I WENT TO NEW YORK TO VISIT BETHEL AND THERE WAS A BABY SUCKING ON A BOTTLE REALLY LOUD BEHIND ME, A FUNNY LOOK FROM A TEENAGE BOY THAT THOUGHT THAT SOUND WAS FUNNY, AND MY SPENDING SERIOUS TIME TRYING NOT TO LAUGH AT THE JUXTAPOSION OF THE TWO...SUPPOSED TO BE PAYING ATTENTION!!!

"You'll never even get to finish school in this System of Things....."
by WingCommander inthis statement was often echeod to me during my formative years.
i remember my very first day of elementary school (stateside) at the age of 4. my parents were flustered because they couldn't believe they actually had to start their only child into public school to begin with; after all, the end was right around the corner!
this was 1984, the year the first apple mac was introduced, 80's music was loud and in your face, the delorean was cool, and miami vice was just in production.

Maybe it isn't school so much as thinking for oneself, developing deductive reasoning, and, of course, the "bad association" AKA realizing that those worldly people are lovable and interesting and not all that worthy of getting blown away. So many of these kids at the hall were so socially retarded, along with being "home schooled"---by themselves to be sure---years later through the grapevine I hear of them staying home trying to figure out how to work the can opener. Meanwhile, those who did go on to get a degree were held in high esteem at the hall, as yes, troubled mind, I think the society would like the rank and file to make a few more dollars to contribute to that donation arrangement.

Is it wrong?
by Frannie Banannie inis it wrong to give people hope when they've been diagnosed with an illness that can lead to much pain and death if not treated successfully?.
i ask this because i just got a pm from an angry poster over my posting the following link and info on an antibiotic that bbc carried the news in regard to and was being researched by camcer research uk: http://www.rense.com/general58/anti.htm.
also, i noticed that mary replied with this link to yet another site that showed a study at a university in canada had turned up another cheap, safe drug that kills cancer cells: http://www.wanderings.net/notebook/main/cheapsafedrugkillsmostcancers.

Just a suggestion, Lorraine Day has a common sense approach that would be my first choice in treatment as it has been proven to work consistantly. I believe there is always hope, but then, death isn't as bad as it's cracked up to be.

New duds for the Assembly/Convention
by gcc2k inmy wife seems to break out new outfits for her and the kids at these events.
i get the idea when someone is single (sisters are "fellowshopping" - always loved that term).
old habits die hard, perhaps?

As a heterosexual woman, and I know I am not alone in this, I looked forward to what was going to happen next on the runway of Memorial night and conventions. Clothing is the last vestige of individuality left for so many of these women, and really, these occasions were an excuse to go all out...right up till the time your husband becomes and elder and...oh. That's another story...

Nobody at the hall thought it odd that one of the children had a sign on their back reading "This child is evil, she wets the bed..."? I would have made a phone call to somebody, but then again, there were sisters at my hall beating kids in the bathroom so much when they designed the new Hall they put French doors in to muffle the sound...kids screaming from getting beaten up in the back room makes it hard to concentrate...

This is getting a 5 star rating because of the number of Witnesses who are viewing it. I don't think I can stomach listening to the full version of "isn't that true"s myself. Hard to believe any New Yorker would take 5 minutes to talk with them, but it's possible we have just seen the edited version of the best of the best.

If you are happy, you are living in Satan's world and "receiving your reward in full", if you are sad, you are living in Satan's world and " receiving your reward in full"--they've got it covered.

I think Al is a riot. Anybody that can make politics funny gets gold star...I think he tells it like it is. I've read two of his books.
