I am always curious as to what a star would wear to be fashionable in Duluth as I lived there for 5 years and always had people thinking I lost 10 pounds come spring. The Depot is a cool place for a meet-up.

Brother and Sister Marry Each Other Unknowingly--
by YoursChelbie inback to story - helpseparated-at-birth twins get married 2 hours, 57 minutes ago .
twins who were separated at birth and adopted by different sets of parents later married each other without realising they were brother and sister, a peer has told the house of lords.. david alton, an independent, pro-life member of the lords, said the brother and sister were granted an annulment after a high court judge ruled that the marriage had never validly existed.. the catholic politician -- who discovered the case after talking to a judge -- used it to highlight perceived deficiencies in the government's proposed human embryology and tissues bill, which is currently going through parliament.. the bill is designed to make it easier for lesbian and gay couples to have children through assisted reproduction, recognising same-sex partners as legal parents of babies conceived through donated sperm, eggs or embryos.. but it contains no provision to require the identity of the donor to be disclosed, potentially meaning a child could not be told they were conceived by assisted reproduction.. alton raised the case of the married twins -- who were born after ivf treatment -- during a debate on december 10, details of which only appeared on friday.. "there are implications for everybody involved, but the needs of the child will always be paramount, and it is right that we should therefore make the process as transparent as possible," alton told the lords.. ivf -- which increases the chances of multiple births -- meant such cases could become more common if the law does not require children to be told they were donor conceived and have access to their genetic history, he said.. "the right of children to know the identity of their biological parents is a human right," he added friday.. "there will be more cases like this if children are not given access to the truth.
the needs of the child must always be paramount.".

Junction Guy had a great point. The more I read, the more likely it seems that anything is possible. If the couple stays together they would be dfed for sex with a sibling, if they divorce, it's unscriptural ... or IS it? It couldn't possibly be unscriptural if they are divorcing for scriptural reasons. Would they be reproved even though they committed incest unknowingly? Would they be free to marry? This is a great topic starter.

How long did you blame yourself before you realised.......
by jambon1 in.....that it simply wasn't the truth?.
i never really felt spiritual as a jw.
i knew that i should feel like a spiritual person, but couldn't work out why i never did.. .

We all go to the meetings all dressed up, everybody getting along, and imagine that we are the only ones who won't be in the picture in paradise. Guilty over doing gardending in the front yard while pioneers who live across the street are going out in service? Like the meetings, service, working full time, studying weren't enough...pretty crazy! Left alone, people will come to know that their spirituality comes from inside, not a works related religion.

I try to not think of what I don't have and be grateful. Get out some wine, scented candles, turn the heat up, get some christmas music on, go out for a walk...nice to do it with someone, but there is a feeling in the air that is special, especially on Christmas Eve, that some people miss with all the activity.

Facebook surprise: looks like most of my childhood friends got out!
by Awakened07 ini only recently joined facebook (yes, a little late to the party).
and today i found one person there that i still consider somewhat of a friend, that i know is disfellowshipped.
this person turns out to be a 'hub', in that this person has a lot of facebook 'friends'.

The one and only disadvantage of being out is not knowing what has become of those we used to know. My hope is that they all come out but especially so of some of the younger ones and ones who were obviously miserable. My bet is that your friend is out and the friends list are also out. I will go there and take a look around myself. Thanks for the tip!

Did You Feel That Jehovah Blessed or Punished You?
by minimus inwere you one of those witnesses that believed anything good that happened was because jehovah god was blessing you and when something bad happened, it was evidence of "no blessings"??
?

I used to sing that song from The Sound of Music--"somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something...BAD!!!" My life went downhill in such a huge way after my baptism. I can relate to Maddie with the constant asking for Jehovah to help and being ignored...I put myself in a position where I sacrificed to get "blessings", but when I left everything fell into place perfectly. Apparently selling your soul to Satan really pays off. Sarcasm. I used to hate it when people would remark about people who were miserable in the congregation and tell them "sometimes the answer to our prayers is NO." Like White Dove said, what kind of a creepy god listens to you beg and beg for years then says no? If god is rewarding me now with a happy life, he must have been punishing me then, but I can't remember doing anything worth that kind of treatment so...maybe god (the universe) helps those who help themselves.

Were you pressured into marrying/having children young?
by breakingfree inthis is probably something women in the organisation experience more than men.
even though we were instructed from the platform to use our youth to go pioneering, the older sisters in the congregation always seemed to be pushing younger women to marry and have children so they would be 'happy' like them .
when i got married (far too young, lucky it worked out) there was instant teasing, encouragement, etc to procreate.

In the part of the country where I live, finding a marriage partner IMMEDIATELY after baptism was pushed and this is what happened to me. Two months after baptism I was set to be married, I pushed the date till three months later, told the brother 10 times or more how I didn't want to be married, told this to sisters, the to-be in-laws...everybody had a lame scriptural reason why I could never turn back once I said yes. Such as: let your yes mean yes, two are better than one, if you were an Isrealite girl and broke your engagement you would be killed, it's too late now, there are too many young people dating and breaking their engagements and this has got to stop right now...I was the virgin pushed into the volcano and stayed in there for 17 years trapped thinking, of course, that I was all alone in this weird situation. Just made the best of it. Made SURE I would never get pregnant.

Chandelier at Patterson from the Lusitania?
by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit inhttp://members.shaw.ca/tt3/p/p.htm"if you happen to get him as your guide ask him to tell you about the remarkable story of the chandelier in patterson that came from the lusitania and has buoyant crystals.".
can anyone confirm this is true or not?
would an item like this and from this moment in history be just a tiny bit expensive???.

I took a look around at the expense and time it took to get just small items off of this ship...it was actualy auctioned at one point in 1967 and any valuable items were to belong to the Irish government. A man named Bemis had all kinds of problems getting an oportunity to go look at the ship and finally, in 1982, there was a salvage done with small items brought up. A pillow that was floating in the water with dead bodies is a big deal, so the idea of a chandelier being bought...I just don't think so. Next summer there will be another salvage of this ship. I wish I knew for sure, but...who knows.

There were some small items brought up in 1982 and next summer the owner will do another salvage operation...they made a big deal out of a pillow that was salvaged, so you would think there would be mention of a chandelier...and WHY would this man who has spent millions and decades to get this stuff sell it to the WT? Bells are, once again, going off.
