Why do you ask? To ridicule (as most here) or to learn?

Am I the Only One?
by hybridous ini have a hard time accepting and believing that this whole wt 'phenonemon' is, and has always been, an end unto itself.. i can't help but suspect that this publishing company, masquerading as a religion, is still a front for something - or someone else.. i don't have any substantial empirical evidence, just a whole lot of anecdotal evidence that just happens to fit the hypothesis that there are deeper levels to this whole ridiculousness.
fundamentalist islam seems to be able to control and exert influence in it's followers to the point of suicide attacks.
i submit that the influence of the jw religion upon it's followers is analogous, if not completely identical (at this time).

Nope! You're one of many who just don't want truth! Truth and the WTBS are two entities- yes the WTBS has many mistakes & faults. Know of any group that doesn't?

Hey- I agree with a lot of what you say- I'm merely pointing out that he at least TRIED- which is more than can be said of most!
Like I said, it was for those wanting to learn- rather than have spittle drool from their ever-insulting lips!

>
>An interesting and complimentary passage from a minister about Brother
>Russell.
>
>"Where Else But Pittsburgh?" A book written by George Swetnam, an ordained
>Presbyterian minister, who wrote for years for the Pittsburgh Press
>newspaper, and is regarded as the foremost historian of the Pittsburgh and
>Western Pennsylvania areas...Interesting Excerpts from the book: "Where
>Else But Pittsburgh?"
>
>"It is an amazing thing that no Pittsburgh history has ever even so much as
>contained the name of C.T. Russell, since his influence has easily been the
>widest of any man who ever lived in the city... including Andrew Carnegie.
>
> He was a pioneer in the Chain store, the Motion Picture industry and
>other important ventures. He was one of the most prolific and widely read
>authors of his day, turning out many books and a column carried by more
>then 1500 newspapers, with some 15 million readers. Russell traveled over
>a million miles, delivering more than 30,000 sermons and lectures...
>
> "His parents were Reformed Presbyterians, a sturdy sect which refused to
>acknowledge any government except that of God, and who refused to pay
>taxes or take part in military service...
>
>He was always interested in religion, writing Bible verses on the sidewalks
>with chalk when a youth. As a boy he was quick & alert, so his father took
>him into partnership in his general store at the age of 11.
>
>When he was 15 he was sent out as a buyer.
>
>"Like many other youths Charles was troubled in mind. He battled over the
>doctrine of predestination and was pondering these things for while he was
>unable to accept religion he was unable to let it go. It was a successful
>but skeptical businessman of 18 that he stepped into a dingy basement to
>see if a handful who met there had anything more sensible than the creeds
>of the churches. What he heard set him searching the Bible again, which he
>did for 46 years!
>
> "Soon he rented a hall & started a Bible School where for 5 years he
>lectured. Then, convinced he had a divine mission, he did a strange thing
>for a young man of 26 with no formal theological education. He invited ALL
>the ministers of Pittsburgh to a meeting, explained his beliefs and urged
>them to unite with him! The fact that they accepted his invitation shows
>how high young Russell stood in the community. Yet after hearing they
>declined his offers..
>
>"Rebuffed by the ministers in his home town Russell turned himself to a
>life of evangelism. He carried on his haberdashery business for some time
>but his interest in commerce gradually waned and he closed his store for
>the next year..
>
> Russell was nearly 6 feet tall, well built, with piercing gray eyes.
>His manner was always CALM, stressing argument rather then emotion,
>sometimes adding a touch of humor. In later life he was snowy haired,
>white bearded, and saintly in appearance..
>
> In 1914 he completed work on the first epic motion picture: "The Photo
>Drama of Creation" 15 years before any other sound pictures were produced.
>It ran for eight hours and was viewed by some eight million people!
>
> "Late in life he set up his entire fortune, by now amounting to well
>over a million dollars, into a trust fund for the W.T.B.& T Society, the
>business organization for Jehovah's Witnesses...
>
> "He made many close friends and bitter enemies. He was the target of
>many stories accusing him of all sorts of crimes and wrong doing in regard
>to his marriage, although there appears to be little if any basis for such
>charges...
>
> "All through his life Russell told his followers NOT to revere him; He
>taught them this so well that the publishing house he founded has never
>published a biography of "Pastor Russell"...
>
> " The movement he founded now has worldwide scope & is still one of the
>worlds fastest growing religions. In 1958 some 250,000 came to NYC to hear
>the same doctrines Russell preached to the unreceptive clergy 80 years
>earlier."Just in case someone wanted to learn a little! None of us JWs look at him as a prophet- just as an admirable man to started to question the ridiculous dogma of the churches.

JESUS REFUTES THE WATCHTOWER'S BLOOD POLICY
by Terry inthe watchtower bible and tract society represents itself as christian.. it represents its theology and policies as direct from jehovah god through his son, jesus christ.
further, the governing body of this corporation interposes itself between the mediator, jesus, and the rest of jehovah's (christian) witnesses for the purpose of "feeding them (spiritual) food at the proper time.. the official word of jesus christ is represented in the watchtower's policy on blood transfusions.. in 1998 this statement was made:.
jehovah's witnesses do not accept whole blood, or major components of blood, namely, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.

There is SO much more! But, as always, if one WANTS to believe something- they will find a reason to, no matter HOW ridiculous!

It was so entuusiastic, inspiring! (Pop! The dream faded!) It motivated me to fall asleep, so I stepped outside to enjoy the crisp mountain air, and prayed for God to DO something with HQ! I felt like I was listening to a political 'speech' which is put together & read THE SAME WAY!
It was a twin BHPR (BobbleHeadParrotReading) of the COs 'special' 'talk'....What a disgrace............................

Why do dubs act as if 1975 wasn't failed prophesy or misleading?
by NotaNess infrom the evidence i have found, it was all but etched in stone.
so why try and defend the wts by saying "they never stated armageddon would be in 1975", as one witness tried to throw back at me.. seems that you could show them all the evidence in the world of this false organization, and it will repel right off them.
is there some sort of "force field" kool-aid they're serving at the halls?.

Simple! Those STUPID enough to put faith in the speculation of one of our writers left! Those (like me) who knew better- just ignored it, trying to help the non-thinkers see it as Speculation, rather than a Divine Revelation.
No excuse- just fact. Now there are probably others giving excuses- but it was simply the imagination of one of our writers!

Jesus never used the name Jehovah???
by Mrs Smith inmy hubby and i have been doing a lot of bible reading are we correct by saying that jesus never once used the name jehovah?
if the name is so important surely jesus would have used it?
the jw's say that jesus was the greatest teacher and that we should follow his example so why are they using a name that jesus did not once refer to.

You're full of - you know what DogPatch! Instead of cut & pasting the drivel of religiously funded "scholsrs", why not just briefly state what you THINK are the facts here?

Due to the Jews believing the name too holy to be pronounced (especially since they knew they'd be using it in VAIN), and also the the False Prophets that started swaying the early Christians- and the fact that the original writings are long gone (only copies from later centuries- a few fragments believed to be close to the first century), we can't state a a FACT Jesus did or didn't.
However, knowing Christ, and the rest of the scriptures answers it for me- of course! No if Jesus were God, as the Catholic Dogma reigns in the minds of most church-goers, than maybe he didn't....However, Jesus HAS and SERVES a God- His "God & Father"!
