I do own birks (great for a bad back), no dope. I also own guns, cowboy boots, know how to rope and ride, and kick shit with the best of them wear leather, and eat meat like it's going outta stlye. None of which amounts to diddly shit.

Edit to add: and whats up with the crack that those who are liberal won't defend America? i think america sucks at times, fucks many people of color and poor people over and gets involved is kinda power hungry....

But gues what? I don't think i'm afraid to defend it. I seriously think of joining the Army somedays, and no not just for the money.. but the money would be nice. I just think your faling into this easy black-and-white way of thinking where this equals liberal and this equals conservative and its really stupid for people to play when they aren'tin any office of any kind and have to play that game.

i cannot think of any worse place to have a convention than the pontiac silverdome.

for years my family went to south bend, indiana to avoid it.

then when south bend stopped having conventions (probably having something to do with the catholics not appreciating the brothers slamming the religion that financed, built, and hosts the lovely arena they were using), we tried madison, wisconsin for a year, before finally trudging back over to silverdome.

i'm going to date myself on this and i suppose many of you will also.

it never ceases to amze me on the stand the wts will take on the latest fads or styles.

when chubby checker came out with the twist the wts had to come out and do their thing.

Oh my God, speaking of "What did that song say?1"

You know that song by the Killers, "when You Were young" the one were he goes, "something-something like Jesus but he talks like a gentleman and so on..." and that was my song (thats why I can't remember it anymore so when I play it again it'll be all brand new) and my mom was all, "What did he say was like JESUS?!" and I'm like what? I mean the guy is basically saying that the man may not be like Jesus but he's god enough but all she hard was one name and her mind flew.

Oh, and what about holiday music? My fam was a nazi in turning it off whenever it cae on in the home, whether it was on tv, the radio, antyhing they wwould sometimes jet to the source just to change it.

I remember gatherings where we would be good.. until the adults went upstairs and then we would lose our minds. We'd give each other the lok like who was gonna come out of their shell first, who was gonna hit the radio, who had the good cds, "No no don't turn it up to loud!" and wh would get in the middle of the dancefloor and yeah-

Freakdance! Or harlem shuffle! Or... hell, do anything iinteresting! then we'd act all shock that a certain song was on when an adult came down eying us like.. "I din't turn that on.... " and then go back into our corners.

Ah. those were the days.

Speaking of dancing has anybody recently read the WT stance of "freakdancing"? Like I wonder who actually broke that down for them, but yeah reading that at the Kingdom hall made me LoL as I pictured a bunch of the older ones even attempted such a dance. Most were mortified that such a thing existed, and some seemed quite interested and even asked the young'yins out of... curiosity.

I remember the comments that were all, "It's just sex with clothes on!!!!one! It's disgusting and none of Jehovah's people shuld ever be caught diong it. It's these music videos!"

Howeverm freakancing is kinda raunchy its not that farfetch'd as many cultures dancing at times can look like a another kind of dance if you get my drift. Plus it seem to be a cultural drift, as it was something that originated in urban (read: black, latino, poor) communities and did not necessarily have to relate to sex at all. But to a bunch of old guys in bethel its just 'demonic orgies'!!1one111

Does paradise still seem attractive to you?

do you think paradise, as depicted by the watchtower, an everlasting life praising jehovah and playing with what we now know as wild animals, not to mention cultivating a piece of land, is really a desirable place?

bear in mind that there is no reference to science and that personal goals are non-existent..

The only appealing thing about paradise to me was "living forever" and seeing dead people come back to life. I was a kid who believed that living forever meant that I could leap off of cliffs like superman and get up without a scratch. When they shattered that I wondered what was the point when you could just slip off of a muntain and wind up dead again...

Then i heard one person say how if anyone thought one bad thought that they would just disappear and that they would be forgotten about or in a perfect body we would be able to deal with their death without it destroying us...

like, "Oh, My son is nonexistant. he must have thought something Jehovah did not like- Oh well! Julia, dear? I think we should have another kid 'cause Jehovah erased another one!!!!"

I was told that doing sports would take away from field service and that I would be lead into worldly association... like the same wordly association I had throughout the entire day at school but. well, MORE! Wish I had ran track, as I'm a fast mofo.

Told that dances were bad as I would get tempted and lead to fornication and have a baby!

And the college was bad, that witnesses who go stop being witnesses only after months of attending (actually I believe this one and I consider it a good thing!) and that people had orgies in hallways and drugs were everywhere... I just wonder which colege they 'researched' because i need to rethink my choices....

I was told that during the time in the 50's on "I love Lucy' Lucille ball wasn't even allowed to say 'pregnant' on prime time television and the speaker actually said this as if it was a good thing! Like, "WTF?!" And then he said that when Elvis shook his hips, it was all over! You'd think this brother to be about 50 or 60, nope, some 20 year old fresh from bethel! It was quite weird and I had no idea how to reat. I mean, are we allowed to even dance, and if so, how?1

GAY WOMEN

please bear with me on this as this is a genuine attempt by me at greater understanding.. recently, a young woman i know has come out and stated that she is gay.

this is the second time i have been shocked - yes shocked!

- because neither woman fit what i used to consider was the "typical" gay woman profile (i am not using the word lesbian in case it causes offence).
