The only logical (please correct me if I'm mistaken- I'm pretty sure you will anyway) reason that you would disobediently place yourself in the company of a bunch of apostates is that you've got some questions and doubts of your own about the "brotherhood." If so, I hope you're finding your time here beneficial. If you have other motives, that's cool too.

i have no doubt that a jw child is, at least, confused with life.
in my own case my wife brings up my 2 children (aged 5 & 2) as jw`s.

a comment by rubadub in the thread about learning new things at the meetings made me remember something, and gave me a chuckle.. i would always see how fast i could look up the scriptures during the talks, and race to beat most everyone else.
of course everyone else didn't realize i was racing them, but i'd always feel a smug (and perhaps a bit self-righteous) satisfaction at having the scripture looked up and ready to follow along while from the sights and sounds around me most everyone else was still looking it up.
being able to look up jehovah's word with such speed would surely earn me spiritual brownie points.

My father was very damaged by the doctrines of the organization. He raised me to accept that if I did well, it was what I should have done. I learned to equate self-satisfaction at a job well done to wrongful pride or hubris. This has damaged me immeasurably, but I am now in recovery from the damage.
We're both from uptight PA and about the same age (within months) and were raised in much the same way. I don't ever recall hearing a"we're proud of you son". But if you give me a buck for every time I heard "You've done what you ought to good for nothing slave" I could buy everyone on here two rounds of the really good stuff.

Well done and welcome to JWD. I'm new here too. It sounds like you're doing a great job with the kids. They're lucky to have you looking out for them. Excellent point about the argumentative approach tending to backfire.

If so, I'm a big boy. I can take it. Just let me know if and when I may return because I'm really enjoying being here and would surely miss it. Keep in mind, due to cult-exiting issues, I read here appreciatively for years and am just now ready to post. In other words, I've got alot to get off my chest. I have tremendous respect for you and the other supreme ones and am sure that you've contributed in some way to my healing. I post alot because:
1. I love people.
2. I know there may be lurkers(from personal experience)with whom something I post may resonate.
3. I felt like it was time to give something back.
If you or someone else busted me checking out the stats periodically it's cause I'm getting a big kick out of this whole experience.

Could someone post the Aug. 15, 1998 Watchtower par. 6-9? I think that would be the feces-smeared explanation given to those "grumbling" about this nauseating develpoment. I'd do it myself if I knew how.
