Dexedrine is the isolated d-isomer of amphetamine (dextroamphetamine). Adderall is a racemic mixture of four amphetamine salts. 75% of them being of the d-isomer (which is responsible for Central Nervous System Stimulation) and 25% being of the l-isomer (levoamphetamine)(which is responsible for Peripheral Nervous System stimulation - usually not wanted by anyone other than narcoleps and chronic fatigue victims).

Wow, I feel like an impulsive ass...
by Mincan inokay, so i'm talking to my friend on the phone, and i mention to her that i'm going to be asking my pyshiatrist for dexedrine next time i see him.
(i think i mentioned this intention other times, anyway, dexedrine is a brand name for the isolated d-isomer of amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, and it is marketed to treat adhd.
it was actually the first such stimulant to be marketed for this purpose, before ritalin and all the others.

I judge no one but the hypocrite! You want to inject smack straight into your eye sockets thats fine with me just don't lie about the usage or your motives for it...
That first sentence is a condridiction. You do judge people, you judge my motives, and you seem to care deeply about them.
I think you asked because you are impulsive... and that you are impulsive... because you are young. And possibly bored.
I think I asked because I wanted some affirmation and wanted to know if people thought this was an outlandish example of impulse or not. The desire to be well is strong, and since I posted I'm an ISFP, you will know that I must constantly ask myself my motivations for doing things against my strong core inner values.

You are only looking for a high
Pot makes me high. I've never hinted at taking other drugs. I've only used pot and alcohol and cigarettes.
Stimulants, taken at my doses, has never made me high. You are ignorant and will never know how it feels to take one of these if you have this disorder.

Thanks Frankie, and also thanks abandoned for recognising the great effect that these have on me with regards to substance abuse!
EDIT: Wow, these things can change my life for the better. I went to the restaurant to get food and I had like no paranoid social anciety at all, I was nice and polite to people without seeming cold and distant, and had more self-confidence and wasn't self-conscious in a negative way at all.

Yes but that is for recreational/abuse stories.
Taking 1 15mg Extended Release Spansule theraputically (knowing it won't produce euphoria, etc) is hardly interesting to them.

I understand your thinking on trying it yourself and eliminating it, but I do think it is something you should leave in the doc's hands at this point. I know you do a lot of research but I worry about the combinations and starting and stopping new meds without the doc not knowing.
Stimulants are fast acting, and fast leaving, compounds. The half life of Ritalin is only 4 hours. After 6 hours, it is no longer in your body any longer, thus the Ritalin you took 7 hours ago will in no way interact with anything you take afterwards...
Ritalin is the only thing that I'm taking presently even though I have prescriptions for so many other things that do not help, but exacerbate other problems, or have nasty side effects, such as Alprazolam (generic Xanax) Wellbutrin XL (brand name bupropion) and Mirtazapine.
I am taking the herbal suppliment 5-HTP for anxiety, that is all, and I do not take it until bed time when the Ritalin has left my system.
Thus, trying this other type of stimulant will not interact with anything I am doing right now.
For any that care to know, I am extremely happy thus far that I have taken these, I feel this could be life changing....!
My log so far...
- Took at 2:15pm
- Felt first effects around 3:00pm I was anxious about side effects and my mind was the normal chipmunk anxious ADHD brain, then this calm came over me, and all anxiety dispursed. No side effects ever presented.
- at 3:15pm was able to notice increased concentration due to mental clarity and no anxiety. It's quite different that Ritalin. With Ritalin (it is known as the harshes stimulant for this condition, perhaps less than Adderall though) the increased focus is more a stimulated forced concentration, nice, but no where near comparison to this relaxed improved concentration. I am easily able to switch thoughts in head as is normal with baseline, but without intrusive thoughts and mental clutter. (i.e. can focus on two things at once much better)
- Anxiety gone, I feel so centred due to a lack of somatic side effects at all! No increase in heart rate, no blood pressure increases (I checked), no tics, no tachycardia, absolutely nothing but a mental clarity and calm, a slightly elevated mood because of this, and increased concentration, not focus, difference, I prefer this.
- 4:10pm It's been almost 2 hours into the dose now, if I was going to experience any side effects, they would have happened by now, peak effect of this is supposed to be within the 1-4 hour range, lasting 6-9 hours according to people here depending on your drug metabolism.
- 5:30pm I feel so gottam normal that I can't really notice these "doing" anything to me, due to this complete lack of any side effects.- I feel more outgoing and have more self-confidence. I don't have that cynical bitter depressive feeling.
This is really great. I have 2 days supply left (3x 15mg ER)to see if this continues.
I'm going to bring in the last spansule to the psychiatrist on the 28th, and tell him that the benefits I've received with this over Ritalin is my elimination of anxiety, and no noticable somatic stimulation, I don't think it will affect my sleep patterns anymore than is normal for me. I feel like I could take a nap if I wanted to, which would be a lot harder on Ritalin. I will also bring in what's left of my RItalin so show him I'm not hawking them or abusing them.
He will be more concerned that I have found something that works for me, rather than where I got them, If he is a good doctor ... which I think he is, he knows I use cannabis on occasion and this has not had any impact on continuation or cessession of the Ritalin. He knows that these medications replace those forms of self-medication.

ANSWER: You're right...you are an imnpulsive ass. (Better?)
I suppose it's better, not optimal.
What is it with people here? Why can't they be helpful?

ten pounds in ten weeks, weeks three and four
by Hortensia inhere's the new thread - we can update this thread for a couple of weeks, then i'll start another one.
it's so nice to hear what other folks are doing, and the folks who aren't dieting or exercising as a part of this group, your input is very helpful.
i appreciate kensei and mincan for instance for their advice.

well the truth is, no matter about the glands, big bones, genetics, whatever, we all get fat because we take in more calories than we consume.
Hypothyroidism?

At the risk of offending, which I truly do NOT intend, I have to ask YOU: how can you ask "What do you all think?" and then take offense when someone tells you? You asked; several folks answered. True, their answer may not have been what you were looking for... or even presented as you would have had it done... but you DID ask.
I'm asking for the opinion about the action itself, I didn't ask for people to come on here and tell me that I don't have the problem in the first place...

First off....I REALLY feel that ADD, ADHD, ADHDFPCFRT....allllll that bull is a ploy to get creative restless folks such as yourself to become extremley reliant on the pharmaceutical Co's out there.....as well as MASS crowd control on a global scale ie....'don't go thinkin fer yourself there junior, you'll just cause us some trouble.
First off, my creativity isn't stunted by taking prescription medications for ADHD. If anything, I am able to follow through on any particular idea rather than not finish it, or get distracted by another.
Here, take some of these, and cogitate on why you have this weird behavioral problem...' I sense from your writing that you are really convinced you have a problem
Wow, it's so great when someone that knows nothing about my life can come in here and tell me that I seem to be really convinced that an untreated condition is a problem for me, as if that's strange. You know, going from a cubicle in the side of the portable to going to the top of the class really is a terrible side effect of these drugs.
so look up all the side effects on all the meds you are taking.
Yeah, you mean like improved concentration and focus, higher self-esteem, higher impulse control, improved executive function, motivation to do anything, lower distractibility, less mental clutter, more clarity of mind, relaxed rather than agitated and anxious racing mind at baseline mental state, improved fine motor control, less social anxiety, less depression, more enjoyment out of activities ...etc etc...
.....THEN....smoke some weed.....I think the only TRUE side effect will be thirst....
As a long time toker, I'll have to disagree. Fatigue, depression, paranoia, anxiety, no motivation, decreased executive function really aren't all things I don't have enough of at baseline ... it's great for recreation on occasion, but not as a form of self-medication...I've learned(unless they market the isolated cannabinoids...which I think they should look into... without the negative aspects of smoking and others) Why do you think I don't use it anymore? I've found something that doesn't incapacitate me more and that solves the same problems.
STOP trying to have a problem, and go out and be awake.
Yes, I love having all my plans go to pot (excuse the pun), not being able to plan ahead, feeling I'd rather be dead, feeling like shit about myself all the time. I think I'll create more problems for myself! I am quite awake infact, this is one of the reasons I'm trying Dexedrine, it isn't supposed to keep me awake as much as Ritalin does.
