All for it here. We have an overpopulation problem that foreshadows every other problem you can possibly think of.
I'm "priveleged" enough to know a girl of 13 that was sexually active since 11 (for a variety of reasons I can't be 100% sure about). She had an abortion this summer. If she had been taking birth control (which I believe she now is) then this could have been avoided. I'm pro-choice too but I mean use the freakin birth control and then you don't have to get an abortion.

january just got done taking the gf to see the familyfeeling good because the experience made us closer, finally sharing a piece of what i came from.
I'm feeling if I wrote a book on that very topic I might have a best-seller.
Journalling right now is the best thing I can do, because I'm often psychotic right now, I won't remember anything later. Obviously I'll only be able to do more for this book than write sketches and themes/etc for it once I've conquered (or merely survived) my ... problems upstairs.
this is just a thought that has probably already been proposed here before but after looking at the 'official' watchtower site i think maybe the latest service report for 2007 will follow the format of.

missing out the percentage increase (decrease) from the previous year.. i think the following year they will also leave out the ever decreasing (increasing) number of memorial partakers.. just my thoughts.

I still havent gotten the ambition to finish Collapse: How Civilisations choose to fail or succeed. (I mean yea he's onto a lot of things that people don't think about often but still need to be said, but I disagree with some of his premises. Read "A Short History of Progress" for another fascinating read.
did anyone have the same "experiences" growing up as some of us italians/europeans did?...of course our culture plays a part of who we have become in our later years and how we treat our children but pointedly im wondering if anyone raised as a jehovahs witness regularly was hit, smacked, beaten, smashed, in inventive ways that begged u to laugh .....well what i mean is that the intresting thing that stands out is that growing up in this kind of enviornment made you laugh your ass off whenever we discussed these things privately as if they were normal.
and they were so not normal.
and did anyone go through the same normal "discipline".?
My mother is a quarter Italian. I'm an 8th.
Wooden spoons, plastic spoons, folded belt, straight belt, fly swatter, spatula, toys, sticks, open palm hand, close fist hand, anger, yelling, pleading, crying, whimpering, panting, frustration, confusion.
Putting on 5 or 6 pairs of underwear before the beating and praying it would be a simply pants-up experience. Got caught doing that once, she thought it was funny so I didn't get another "proper" one.
Grandpa was the worst, when he had a headache and the children continued to laugh and enjoy themselves. Bend over the bed, pull down your pants and underwear, get 3 of the hardest welts with a leather belt ever. Thank god my balls weren't fully developed and hanging out behind...

after i wrote my parents a 10-page letter going into detail about all of the problems with the watchtower, along with documented evidence of false prophecies/predictions, flip-flops in doctrine, as well as many good reasoning points, she put up some very strong defenses over the phone.
at first she said that she read the letter.
then when we got on a topic that was covered in the letter, and i could see that she didn't comprehend the point that i was making, i would ask her, "are you sure you read the letter?
I got the same reaction from my mother when I wrote down and shared with her the points against the WT. She believes (almost exactly as your mother does) that I'm actively seeking information against the WT to justify living a sinful life. Eventually I stopped trying, because, yeah I do want to live what the WT considers a "sinful life". There's no logic that can get through.

as other posters have mentioned , i feel , too , that this is something that needs to be kept in the forefront of practicing jehovah's witnesses minds , as they will never hear about these settlements from their elders or governing body.
so , you folks know me well enough that i don't have a shy bone in my body , and if i see an opportunity i will take it.
Okay, so the only thing against the Watchtower is that it is hiding the fact that these court cases are happening from it's members while the other churches ie Catholic do not?
But in their own press release that I linked to they say that they have nothing against telling the authorities. They don't say anything about telling the congregation though...hmmmm interesting.
Seriously though, the idea of fighting the Watchtower based on what some people within it are doing (who obviously are hardwired "incorrectly" in the brain) doesn't have as much firepower with me as other issues.
I would feel silly fighting a JW about the sex abuse thing. When there is so much better fuel out there to use.
