i read about the high incidents of mental illness and psychiatric disorders among jehovah's witnesses and it .
started me thinking about why this is and how so.
then i made this list and realized how much a child's psyche.
Hey, Mincan, I appreciated reading your helpful post. Sounds like you have been through a very drawn-out experience, but been able to work out the various factors, environmental and personal, that have contributed to your problems. Yes, it is helpful to recognise that many factors underlie how we "end up" in life, and it is seldom "just" being exposed to an healthy belief system in and of itself. I also agree that your intellectual capacity is enabling you to clearly identify the different factors that have contributed to your problems. All the best in your journey...
Hey, thanks Steve. Anyway, I find it fascinating that you were a JW and become a clinical psychiatrist! That's something I could see myself doing.

It's awesome! No apologies needed...
i have often heard women speak about men who think with their meat and two veg!.
it is as if they lay claim to a theory that all male agendas form as thoughts which mainly travel down the cerabal cortex and out through the zipper before coming to life in the real world.. but how do men think women think?.
.
You are wise beyond your years.
Wish I could say it was from experience beyond my years...!
anybody ever wonder about what went on prior to the creation of adam?
it's only been 6 thousand years which in terms of counting backwards eternity-wise from that point is a long time.
gives me a headache thinking about it.
Perhaps yet more so is the notion that time, as we experience it, is merely a limited context within which our minds operate.
Yes, all one needs for proof that the way humans see time is unique to them, but that time certainly does exist, but it's perception is all we really care about, smoke about 2 grams of cannabis at one time or take some MDMA.
The perception of time is kept with neurotransmitters and electrical and other chemical impulses in the brain.

I just never got the whole females are hard to understand thing... sure I mean from a close relationship point of view, maybe men just feel this way because once you are in a relationship with someone things change and it might be hard to gauge certain things but...
I just find you get to know anyone...female/male and it takes time to get to know them and eventually you do! Lots of talking and sharing of ideas, you get a pretty good idea how the person thinks.
Take people one at a time, don't group them. I've met females that are dumb as posts and met ones multi-dimensions more clever than I. I've met ones that appear very outgoing sexually and others that are pretty conservative in that way.

Actually, civilisation is around 10,000 years old. Humans have been genetically and more importantly behaviourly the same for about 56,000 years.
Yes, before that to the start of the universe is a very long time. I think of such things often...sigh.
i recently read a riveting, but heartrending story in this forum by "tj".
although the story at many points tears at your heart, tj's post is an exceptionally well-written story of his life growing up as a witness.
if you have not read it yet, i would encourage you to do so.
You shouldn't let people force you to take their will... even if they are planning it "up your backside"
this touches me every time i watch it.

Jesus this thread is creepy, and I think I'll leave as quickly as I entered.
Is this some sort of shrine this poor man set up for himself that thinks he's Errol Flynn?
