Did You Know Many Dumb Elders?
by minimus ini did.. there were some pretty sharp guys but there were a lot of not so bright ones.
the worst elders were the ones that thought they were very intelligent but really were stupid.. one elder that fits that description was a man that loved to speculate on prophecies, watchtower wording, someone's facial expressions or mannerisms.
he truly believed he was more enlightened than anyone else.

Do witnesses visit loved ones grave sites?

were visiting my wifes family in new orleans this week, and she brought up going see her relatives graves.
if they do how does the experience differ from a non-witness.

I know of bro who visited his wife's grave after she passed, and my "pious jw mother" said, Oh, I don't know if he should be doing that! like it was her business to govern another persons grief! However, needless to say, he's remarried now, wonder if he drags the knew wifey to the grave, or I bet he's probably like "Joan who??" now, the woman who birthed him two kids is probably just a brief memory, if that !!!

please don't think i don't remember correctly because of my young age at the time, but the sis.
who conducted it is still alive, and i practically know her whole family.

Lord knows I can't be the oldest person here, I don't hit the half a century mark until December !

Way, way back in 1962, when I was four years old and my family relocated from Harlem to Queens, NY, our Tuesday night book study, as it used to be called way back when almost universally in JW Land, was conducted by a woman !! Please don't think I don't remember correctly because of my young age at the time, but the Sis. who conducted it is still alive, and I practically know her whole family. Anybody else remember their "Tuesday night book study" being conducted by a woman? I know that all Congs. are not on the "same page" so, I don't know if it was just an NYC thing are what.
Another issue I was told that proves that all JW's aren't all on the same page, (as if you didn't know) is that I attended a wedding almost 20 years ago and the sis. was from Maryland and she told me that they didn't believe in SPINNING RECORDS AT WEDDING RECEPTIONS !! Will somebody please tell me what scripture supports that? It's sad what the JW's believe in, when all they're doing is serving a bunch old men in Brooklyn !! Anyone from the Maryland area ever heard of that? But I'm sure now, since it's been almost 20 years ago, some "new light" has been received and Jah said it's alright to download music from your Ipods for entertaintment !!

illegal cable
by ShirleyW inhave any of you (especially those familiar with the jw's in the jamaica, queens congs in nyc) heard of the dubs subscribing to illegal cable.
about ten or so years ago there was a big scam in the queens area with a couple of elders who ran a bogus insurance scam, some were df'd, was even mentioned here on the board, around that time a sister who is a hairdresser/teacher told me that she and her family had illegal hbo, why she pointed out that it was illegal i'll never know, but was just wondering did some " smart, insightful follower of jehovah" figure out a way for the christian bros and sis to get pay channels without paying?
i know for a fact that this family has been caught up with because they can no longer subscribe to hbo even if they wanted to (legitimally) through time warner, unless they were given a certain amount of years and the time has run out.. another thing that gets my goat with this christian family is that as mentioned above the wife is a special ed teacher, doesn't that take a certain amount of years of college?

Her husband is janitor with the NYC school system, and for some reason I have a feeling they got the hook up for their jobs. He stops way before quitting time and just goes to the nearest school to punch his time card in the evening, but being fair, being an employee of NYC system no matter in what capacity, it's very easy to get over, but wouldn;t a faithful servant of Jehoober look down on that?
Does anybody know how to report these two fine examples of Jehovah to the NY Bd. of Ed.? Anybody know any higher ups in the system, just boils my blood, just got me thinking after reading the entry about the Hyprocrites and the one yesterday about those that take advantage of others in the borg.

One theocratic sister comes to mind, she was certifiably crazy (and did get professional help) while she was unemployed she decided she wanted to pioneer, along with her going to college (gasp!) !! I must say though that one of the elders whom even to this day is called a knucklehead by some of those still in the borg told her that she shouldn't be pioneering if she chooses to attend college, that she should seek employment first ! ! !
I recall my parents always donating to "poor Sis. Bunny and her daughter".
Let the _itch get a friggin job ! ! !

I'm of the "in your face" category mainly because being raised in the lie, I just can't tolerate lies to my face, send him a msg back and say what about the beatings, etc.
If he's like my mother he'll probably beat around the bush awhile but keep at it until you get an answer, you're dealing with a dad here, not an estrogen induced female mother, I can say that . . .I'm female too.

Our sappho sisters
by ShirleyW inthere are two sisters that have been roomates for, i would say about forty years now, who live in the queens area of nyc who run a music studio teaching young children piano, etc.. i'm almost fifty and they're one of the few "couples" that i remember as a child that are still together.. what the heck is going on here, bethel lurkers if you read this, why are they allowed to be in good standing with jehoo all these years when it's obvious what's going on.
i even asked my mother if one of her relatives had a roommate for more than 40 years and you were questioned about their relationship what would you say, and believe it or not that's one of the few times she couldn't come up with an answer to defend the cult.
even their personalities are that of a same sex couple.. i'm sure the general answer is "jehoo will take care of in time" but that just proves it's all bs.. do you guys know of any such couplings in your former kh ?
