I don't consider "Lord have mercy" a southern thing, I say it all the time, however, the "yes sir, yes Ma'am" thing is definitely a Southern thing, Kids are taught to say that while growing up in Southern/Midwest area. In Cali and NY just to name two states, I think if I child is taught to say that today must mean their parents are from the South.

of the most amazing phrase that people say in the south.. straight to the point.. a few that i found.
guess what is being said.. 1) as easy as sliding off a greasy log backward.. 2)busy as a stump-tailed cow in fly time.. 3)either fish or cut bait.. 4)even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then.. 5)happy as a dead pig in the sunshine.

my focus is on 3 groups.
the third group consists of people people who grew up in homes where one parent was a jw and the other wasn't.

My father didn't get baptized until I was 18 or 19.
Of course all little Dubbie children are forced to go the meetings, but I have to say it was my father who said I know longer had to attend after he was baptized, my mother of course was not to happy with that.
Growing up we always went to somebody's house or had folks over to our house for the Holidays, but my dad was an unbeliever then, so I think all good Dubbie wives had to carry on the holidays for their spouse or whatever.
My mother sometimes had me asked my father to come go the the Hall with us, because "if you ask him he'll come". . . oy, I got so paranoid and bashful everytime my mother laid that one on me, btw, as we left for the meeting he was still in his chair.

by redvip2000 ini'd like to ask if you recall certain things you were forced to avoid or throw out because they were supposedly demonic, or connected with the occult, or even just plain bad.. i remember we were told to avoid the harry potter movies and books, because he is a magician.
also acdc music.. lol.. .
and oh yeah, during a talk an elder specifically mentioned the show "married with children", because it was a bad example of how a family should behave.

It never ceases to amaze me JW`s come to your door uninvited to tell you the "TRUTH " yet they can`t handle the "TRUTH" when somebody challenges them .

we have the truth they say , but challenge them about what they say and what has been printed in their journals , and their is excuses, apologies etc.etc.

A friend of my mothers sent me a mag or a book or something, so I sent her either something from this website or another Ex Dub website and she sent me a note saying she can't read it because of it being apostate material or whatever. . . well how the Hell does she know what it said if she didn't read it?

i don't know... alcohol doesn't work for me but if it did, i would use it... i wish i could find a "new drug" that works lol.
