i was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.

ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.

sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

Has anyone come across those pukeworthy reports the Dubs put out after a tragedy, saying the only remaining bldgs are the KHs, or I'm glad I was at the meeting because my home was destroyed?

i ask this respectfully, and do so after watching a favorite show of mine's season opener which had a new years storyline.

hollywood tends to make movies and television show episodes centered around holiday themes appear warm and blissful.

while i'm thankful to have never participated in such holidays, i can't deny my curiosity about ex-jws that do celebrate.

does anyone remember what year the word "servant" was replaced with "overseer" as in circuit servant overseer, district servant overseer ... and up the hierarchal lineage of the jws?.

Can't pinpoint the exact year, but I remember it being sometime in the early 1970's as well.

Did you suffer humiliating childhood experiences as a JW?

in john cedar's (jwsurvey.org) latest excellent article on his blog about a us teacher that got reprimanded for trying to force a jw boy to salute the american flag, he relates a similar childhood experience where he was terribly humiliated at school in view of his classmates.. this reminded me of a similar humiliating experience i suffered at school, when i was 11 years old.

during our school's end of year 'prom night' (not actually called that in the country i live) which was in the style of a disco night, my unbalanced jw mother came to pick me up early and stormed right into the hall and grabbed my arm and pulled me out in front of all my friends right in the middle of the dancing.

on the way out she gave the teachers a lecture about the music being far too loud and how unwholesome the whole thing was for children of my age.

Yadda - Your question should be are there any JWs who didnt' suffer from humiliating childhood experiences.

If so, I'd like to know how they got away with it.

The fiance brought in witnesses today oh joy. QUESTIONS

so it's been seven months since i moved out of my parents place and in with my (now) fiance.

they came to our door this morning and it's been a long time since i spoke to my parents.

i was never disfellowshipped because i was never baptized but there is still online limited contact.

I'm curious as to how old you are, however, if you made that bold move to move out of your parents house and move in with your boyfrirend, what's keeping you from telling the JWs that you don't want to go with them to meeting (since you describe it as your boyfriend set the whole thing up not you)

Blood sausage

while visiting our neighbors across the pond, i visited a butcher store to rustle up something for supper.

that was the first time i had ever seen blood sausage.

we just never see it over here in the states.. when a witness leaves the organization over there, do they all eat blood sausage once again?
