Not on JW.org : Question for Jehovah's Witnesses elders: If pants have Pagan origins, is DENIM demonized ?
by Balaamsass2 ina yound sister was severely counciled by the elders for wearing a denim "jean skirt" to the hall last year.
she left with tears in her eyes and never returned.. for the last 50 years denim jeans have been banned at the brooklyn bethel breakfast table.. i understand denim jeans are banned even by tourists visiting beth ell.
billy explained the pants situation in past posts.. so my questions are: what other instances are there of denim bans by watchtower ?

Weird crazy rules imposed by your local Elders.
by stuckinarut2 inwe all know the sort of thing..... in many congregations, specific "rules" creep in...introduced by the local elders that become set in stone.. years ago, i heard of a congregation that sat down during the first song of the evening but stood for all others (the co changed that very soon after).
then there were the older accounts of congs that had rules to make the public speakers wear only white shirts.... in one cong now, i heard that brothers can only be used for sound or microphones if they do a minimum of 5 hours per month in the ministry!.
another cong has ruled that all appointed men must pioneer for at least one month each year in order to remain qualified.. .

No boots up to the knee for sisters giving talks? Can someone please tell me how Jehovah would be displeased with that, along with no television watching the night of the meeting, really ??
I never knew that only wearing ankle boots and not watching TV on the night of your meeting would get you everlasting life in paradise

Your view is interesting, to me it seemed like the early Sunday meeting was better since it was out of the way and you had all afternoon to enjoy the rest of your Sunday, instead of Sunday being cut in half, like go out and knock on doors in the morning, but when you go back home you got to get back out again for the meeting.

If they're doing their imitation of a statue holding mags it's utter disgust. If they're in front of the setup tables talkinng to each other llike they're at a gathering then it's "what a bunch of fools wasting their time".

Convention Season-"Saving Good Seats" & Other Embarrassing Behavior
by Darth Fader The Sequel insince it is the convention season (and i am not attending this year or ever again), and i have been seeing other posts about some of the goings on at the various ic's and rc's, i am reminded of some of the truly embarrassing behavior i have "witnessed" (pun intended) over my lifetime of being a jdub at the various conventions and assemblies.
probably the most disillusioning experience at a convention that i have ever had was one year when i volunteered to be an attendant.
all of the volunteers were asked to attend a special meeting a few months beforehand to get instructions for our duties as attendants.

I remember sometimes when we couldn't find seats because they had a bible or songbook in them and the person said they were saving them, my mother always said that just as soon as they get to their seats we will leave . . . .NEVER had to leave, no one ever came !!

How many things did you toss out in the name of Jehoover
by love2Bworldly ini had a flash back yesterday.
my non jw husband and i went to disneyland and bought my young daughter a set of 7 dwarf toys.
after a few months i felt guilty and threw them away, thinking they were demonized.

BluesBrother - Remember around the mid 80's i think it was the Borg came out and said that we should get rid of any "demonic" music we have in our homes? I remember a sister who was close to my mom bragging about how after her teenage son read that he immediately went to his collections and threw out some of his music, guess he regrets that now since he's no longer in da troof!

Is is right to leave your job for the WT? In an assembly interview
by skin inwe had an assembly part here 6 months ago where a sister was interviewed by the co because she left her job to do more wt work, she talked about some jobs that she had recently been offered with good pay but turned these down.
most listening to this is would be thinking that this sister is being blessed by jehovah for taking this stand, how much faith she has to do this and what can we do personally with our own jobs, made me almost feel guilty for having a job.
anyway come forward 6 months to now, this family has had to move to another region because the husband couldnt find enough work to support his family here.

Those kind of experiences are the same kind the Borg has been doing for decades.
I'd like to see them borrow a page from the OWN Network and do a "Where Are They Now" type of experiences, which we know will NEVER happen.
