Funny conversation with my kids today

so my 11 year old kid comes up today during breakfast and tells me.... my friends at school are playing this new game.

they balance a pencil over something else and then they put a paper under the pencil with the words "yes" and "no".

they then ask "charlie, charlie, are you in the room?".

This was mentioned on The View yesterday. Like one of the persons on the show said perhaps someone is breathing hard or blowing on the pencil to give it a roll.

So the patriarch of the Duggar family contacted the church elders first instead of the authorities, now where have I heard that before ?? It couldn't be from the cult that says they are the only true religion on earth and all the others are false? Couldn't be them because they follow the same rules as the wacky religion/cult the Duggars follow.

my dad is now the only jw in my family.

i am technically inactive.

i am concerned about when he dies.

The brother I had do my mothers memorial, I pointed out to him specifically I didn't want it to sound like an advertisement for the JWs or I would choose someone else, but he was good friends with my mom so he complied, no problem.

BTW, the brother my mother always said she wanted to give her funeral talk she thought of as a son, since he lost his mom at an early age. Well, I contacted sonny boy and he said he was busy . . . I hope she heard that since they say our dead relatives spirits or still with us.

Of course Carson, Letterman Leno.

I don't understand why Fallon is so great, he giggles like a school girl when he interviews, and don't even ask about Seth Myers, WOW, seems like eleven year old boys are in charge of late night programming at NBC.

Kimmel was funny when he was on The Man Show, I only watch him when he has someone on I want to see, I've seen the clips where celebs read the bad tweets about themselves, that's funny.

JWs and their views on Sex

in the past i have read on this forum that the wt have a say in the "bedroom" of couples.

i thought that was a bit overkill at first, but recently i have come to conclusion that this is true.. the control administered by the wt cooperation on ones sex life is not on only intrusive, its damaging.

they control every aspect of ones thought and action, thus leading most down a path that said corporation wants them to tread.. this path is to get married young, and then eternal loyalty the the organisation.. so how can an organisation force you to get married young?.

I've heard that prayer thing before sex, a brother gave a talk and included the wedding night, he said that perhaps you should offer a prayer since this will be your first time . . . . oh brother. .

Welfare and Witnesses

i'm ignorant to the social welfare programs outside the us, but listening to others i have to assume in europe it is more generous.

i've not had deep personal conversation with active witnesses for nearly 20 years.

last year i made contact with a family and some elders came to my house.

Surprisingly we had a sister in our Cong that was told by the elders that if she was collecting welfare they didn't let her pioneer, because that means she could work. I'm , but I'msure that was a rare approach by the elders.

A friend of my mothers that used to attend our Cong but moved to Virginia was on disability, but when she visited my mother she said she was a pioneer. So I reported her to the VA Disability Dept. for fraudulently collecting from them, they did check out her case and found out she wasn't collecting anymore at the time that I reported, that was just my part in "keeping the organization clean" !!

Son's new friend a JW

he was born about a dozen years after i left.

but he's heard about it from me and knows i was one.. recently he has a new best friend at school.

Steve2 - Interesting that you say in New Zealand you heard Glen Campbell hated the JWs. Here in the US I've heard that his parents (and I think a few of his siblings) started studying, don't know if any got baptized, but heard that he was favorable to the JWs. See what a few miles between the Dubs does to a rumor?
