That's probably one of the KHs that they have to swim thru alligator infested waters to get to for every meeting, so the brothers and sisters in the US who complain should remember what others have to go thru to get to their weekly meetings -

My mother keeps getting mail from them too,I believe they're the group my parents used for their trip to Japan, matter of fact I had to call them the last time they sent something to her, I think it was this summer to let them know she passed in 2006.

Today is Christmas, and guess what? Witnesses's were going house to house on my block, TODAY ON CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
by Dunedain ini kid you not!!!!!
my family, and i, were on our way to my wife's brothers house today, which is the families christmas tradition.
we open presents in the morning, and at around 10:30, we head over to my brother in laws for breakfast/brunch, with all the family.. so, as we loaded some presents up in the car, and we all jumped, and drove away, at the end of my block, jehovahs witnesses!

Yeah, with my mother on Xmas a few times, just what a kid want's to do on Xmas morning, or any morning for that manner.
My mother with her pompous JDub attitude used to say, "isn't it a shame that they keep Jesus as a little baby" , that from someone that was raised in the Baptist church and had two uncles who were Pastors.

Growing up as a kid my father wasn't baptized yet, so we used to go to either my godparents house or the house of my godbrothers or my mom used to cook and invite folks over, because the Borg said at that time if a wife had an UBM you weren't supposed to deny a holiday meal, my father could care less by the way. I did get presents from the friends of the family (not Dubs) and relatives so never missed out too much on that either. It started getting boring around Junior High School age, when the folks who used to cook the big meal every holiday got tired of doing it. -

What did you have for Christmas dinner?
by GrreatTeacher inmy inlaws are polish, though my husband is a 3rd generation american, but the food traditions have stuck around.. we have christmas eve dinner starting with red beet soup with sour cream, pierogies filled with mashed potatoes or saurkraut, ham, polish sausage sliced and cooked with saurkraut, turkey (that part is american), krischickies (likely spelled wrong) which are crispy pastries dipped in powdered sugar, and apple pie (also american.).
there are goodnatured threats toward bad children who may need to get their dupa busted (butt spanked) and therefore santa will bring figismachen.
i also love golabkis (ground beef and rice wrapped in cabbage leaves), but these were not served this time.

American accents, Bette Midler, Clinton, Rick Fearon, Strathclyde, Morningside
by slimboyfat ini used to enjoy being able to distinguish different local accents, but for some reason i've got worse at it.
i was thinking about this today when i was listening to bette midler on the scottish radio.
i thought to myself i quite liked her accent and also that it reminded me of someone else.

I'm just trying to figure out how you hear an accent when Better Midler speaks, no accent there at all

I"ll be near one of the busiest subway stations that the Dubs like to invade later on, three JW carts all across from each other! If i feel like messing with them on this rainy, nasty day then maybe I will and use TC mentions above -

I still haven't heard my favorite by Nat King Cole yet on the radio this season. Although having grown up in Hollis, Queens and went to school with Joseph's brother Russell, when I hear Xmas in Hollis come on I usually turn to another station, can't take that song anymore !

Well, since Jdubs eat up that head of the household stuff, every time they bring up some from the meeting just say "At this time I will not allow that to be discussed at my dinner table".
