The saddest song of all time?
by Bad_Wolf ini would pick this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th2w6oxx0kq.
i don't know how so many are happy or fine if thinking this life is it.
haven't lost parents yet, but when with them, sometimes i'll think of this song.

Oh, as for Bobby Goldsboro and Honey I remember that song too, I think it was about his wife dying?
Btw, in Goldsboro the one that sang one of the most hokey, silly songs of all time, "Watching Scotty Grow"? I wonder how old little Scotty is now? About 48 or 49,I'd guess, and is he still called Scotty.

I was in Junior High School when Cats in the Cradle came out but really couldn't stand Harry Chapin's music (American Pie, ugh) so really didn't pay attention to the lyrics. On an episode of The Middle Mike recites the lyrics to Axel when he wants to go out instead of staying home with family. Mike (Neil Flynn) you could tell was trying not to cry, had no idea the words to that song were so moving, yet true in so many families

Can JWs vote?
by NikL ini finally found the questions from readers i was looking for.. from nov 1, 1999 wt .
it says.... questions from readershow do jehovah’s witnesses view voting?there are clear principles set out in the bible that enable servants of god to take a proper view of this matter.
however, there appears to be no principle against the practice of voting itself.

I don't know who the poster was but going back 10 years someone posted from the Awake back in either 1961 or 62 the exact page in the Bound Volume where it says witnesses can vote, I even showed it to my mother since she had a library of the Bound Volumes going back to the early 60's. I hope someone here knows where to find it, it says yes they can vote'

What woke you up?
by MrRoboto infor me, i think it was just the right time as i was starting to wake up on other fronts as well (anyone who had went through these will know what i mean).
but it started when i was looking for what info goes on a publisher card, which led to me reading one person's story (ex bethelite) which was pretty crazy to an all-in jw but who trusts those apostates...?.
then i started watching videos on cults, as if my subconscious was trying to tell my concord mind something... when i saw a particular one about a young man in lds getting ready to start their 2 year preaching campaign, including a school, social activities etc, i realized that i couldn't tell the difference between the folks of this mormon cult and the jws (save for some religious differences) .

I was a born-in, but never bought into it, they way I was treated by my the majority of my peers in the Cong, never being invited to the teenage gatherings, etc.,but the sentence below from NoviceLocs14 makes my blood just boil:
The elders, unsatisfied with me not returning their correspondence, looked up the number to my new job and proceeded to call my job several times a week
I would've cursed them all out and reported them for harassment, how do these assholes think they're so high an mighty !!

My mother was baptized at the 1958 Assembly which was held at the Polo Grounds and Yankee Stadium
I was at the 1969 Yankee Stadium Assembly, wasn't that the last seven or eight day assembly?
Does anybody here remember the Assembly that was held in Washington DC in either 67' or '68, which was just four days, but the kicker is the toilets were not working for all four days. The restroom were open, but they were all flooded to the top and I'm sure I don't have to say anything else. I think today that wouldn't be allowed for any venue to be opened if they didn't have proper bathroom facilities, because remember, back then they still served food at the assemblies. I was just about nine or 10, so didn't bother me much, but just think of the women and small kids.

Just on the blood issue alone, thousands thought they were giving their lives to Jehovah when they were just following what seven old guys in Brooklyn told them to do. The GB should be under the jail just for that issue alone. All religions/cults have the sex abuse issues which are also very serious but only the Dubs don't believe in blood and thousands have given up their lives for absolutely nothing!
