Anyone Tried "Sous Vide" Cooking?
by Simon ini like a nice steak but cooking one can be a little intimidating and the results hit and miss especially when it comes to getting the right temperature so getting it wrong can be an expensive mistake.
can anyone do that "finger and thumb together to check the doneness" thing?
i can't .... so i came across this cooking technique called "sous vide" which cooks food (in a sealed vacuum bag) in a warm water bath, even steak.

Simon - I don't think that's really possible with an oven and it's hard to get 'good', never mind 'perfect'. The outside will be overcooked in order to get the middle cooked to the right temperature (or else it's raw)
I beg to differ, If you know folks who like to pan sear their steaks to give it the "crispy" like you get in restaurants, all I do is rub down the steak with olive oil, salt and pepper, put a piece of foil on a cookie sheet, put it in the oven and cook it on one side longer to get the "restaurant crispy", then according to thickness flip it on other side when necessary, the middle comes out to my liking (since I'm the one cooking and monitoring it)
I like a medium rare steak myself. The "outside" as you say is never "burnt to a crisp", you just have to keep an eye on it and cook it to your liking, some people like burnt to a crisp an some people like a well done steak, which is leather and a waste of money an time if you ask me.

I remember a few weeks ago on Rachel Ray's show she had a guy demonstrate cooking a steak the sous vide way, the thing is after he took it out the bag, which he said cooked for an "hour" he then put the steak on the grill !!
I put a steak in the oven for 20-30 minutes, depending on the thickness and it's done! Why wait more than an hour for one steak, to me makes no sense.

JW's Would Stay With The Org Even If 1914 Was Dropped
by pale.emperor ini asked the question on quora: .
if the governing body abandoned the 1914 teaching, would you leave jehovah's witnesses or you would remain a member regardless?.

Just as Drumpf supporters stick by him no matter what he says, Dubs will eat up anything the seven old guys put out there. If the Borg and Drumpf came out with the same belief of 2+2=5, the blind followers will believe it.

How many here think Trump's news conference this evening was absolutely brilliant
by ShirleyW ini'm being serious, i would like to hear from folks here that support him describe to me how that news conference was absolute brilliance, he answered all the questions, he knows what he is talking about.
just want to compare note with those who aren't his supporters (and have common sense) as you know this forum is here to hear both sides, so, have at it .

You may be a little confused. Do you think people support him because he is brilliant?
All the folks that turn out at his rallies, they think he's friggin' genius, just like he does. They think he's the best POTUS ever, just like he does.

two biological sisters in the cong I went to, one was skinny one was overweight (almost obese), guess which one was a preemie when born.
Also, I've heard Al Roker say, I think he mentions it in one of his books he was a preemie also, I'm sure you remember how he looked before he lost weight, I'm not saying your daughter is going to be overweight, but when you look at the two folks I mention, you would hardly suspect them to be underweight at any time in their life. Your daughter looks great, no more worries, no need to say she's on the road to recovery because she already has.

Funny occurrences
by Freedom rocks inwhat were some funny experiences you had of things that happened during talks at the meetings?.
a few of mine:.
- a brother had dyed his hair before his talk and it was raining heavily when he arrived at the hall and the dye was running down his face during his talk and his skin went more and more grey as the black dye ran down it.

A brother wanted to have an audio tap play where he did an audio drama. The brother at the sound played Side B rather then Side A. The song "Let's get physical" started to play. Everyone laughed for years.
HA ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ! ! ! Good one !
I've posted this here before, but we had a southern brother who they were trying to move up a ministerial servant after being in the Cong. for thirty or so years, was giving a talk about the Hittites and kept pronouncing if "high titties"

I'm sure we all have heard the story about Bethelites handing out water, then running inside and locking their doors, I believe it
A JW friend at the time told me a week or so after that it was confirmed that 12 or whatever numbers of the folks that died that day were JWs, I said what about the other folks, you don't care? Then she just said, "yeah, but it was just confirmed that "whatever number" killed that day were JWs - SMH., It's sad that you let seven old guys in Brooklyn hard wire your brain like that.
Even my mother who was an Uber-Dub, heard a brother make some pompous remark about how the other folks out here in the world better be glad they didn't caught or something to that effect, she even said that was wrong of him to say something like that.

What was the EXACT exJW website you first visited and why EXACTLY did you visit it?
by ILoveTTATT2 ini had two episodes of visiting exjw websites:one time around 2007 when i just googled "jehovah´s witnesses" and dared to look at those sites.
i was scared and i promised myself i would never come back to them.
however, that one didn´t really count.the moment that woke me up was this:i got to know that whitney heichel was a jw and murdered by another jw, because i overheard that conversation in a kingdom hall.i looked up the news and in one of the news comments, there was one where an exjw was complaining that they were hijacking her funeral and they were really trying to downplay the fact that her murderer was a jw... and then it said "visit jwfacts.com"... which i did.and the rest... is history.what exactly got you onto an apostate website when you woke up?
