it was all their first christmas and what a fun and happy time we had.
Hey ADD - You asked me a question the other day via PM and I answered it, have yet to hear from you.
there are a few active jws i know (separate, in different areas) who basically celebrate new years, having a party to watch the ball drop, posting about it on social media, one even saying literally "happy new year" .
but most other jws seem to not want to point out the elephant in the room.
has anybody else seen this, or ever seen it turn judicial?
The dumbest Dub party I ever heard of was when they gathered at this sister's house on New Year's Eve but left before midnight so it wouldn't be considered a New Year's Party - SMH . . .
now we know that the con ed plant in astoria, queens had an explosion, but before anyone knew what the heck was going on, so many people were posting on social media their pictures of the "strange blue circle light" that was in the sky this evening, usually st. johns which is near me has a fireworks display after a game, i thought this doesn't look like fireworks, much brighter and no sound, it actually looked like it was 4pm in the afternoon right before the sun leaves the sky.. i live in the jamaica section of queens (just up from trump's foot dr. if you saw that article in nytimes.
com the other day) and haven't lost power but laguardia is dark now, no flights in are out.
just wondering how the old school dubs that saw the lights outside window, thought "finally, the big a is here" !.

All large Organizations know how to tweak the numbers to make themselves look good.
I used to work for two accounting firms, back then the major ones fell under the title "The Big 6",
I've worked for E&Y and PWC, they both know how to tweak those numbers and publish many articles saying that they're #1, when neither one of them held that spot. Even the TV companies, ABC, NBC, CBS have a daily war going on about their ratings, especially during the 6:30pm news broadcast. Did you know the anchors have a monitor under their desk while broadcasting live watching the other two networks? Everything is a competition and tweaking those numbers
one of the witness rebuttals that is used to belittle the christmas holiday is the one where they say that people reduce jesus christ to being just a baby in a manger, whereas the witnesses recognize him as a mighty king, a much more accurate and current way to view jesus.
a baby in a manger is a sweet sight on any day, it's true, but more is going on than meets the eye in the case of jesus.
this particular baby is the first baby to have been born without an earthly father, the immaculate conception.
That's exactly what my mother used to say around this time of year, why do they keep him as a baby? I guess that's the best thing their pompous, smug minds could think of, forgetting that when she and others before they learned the da troof used to celebrate, so why didn't they say that back then when they were actually enjoying themselves on this holiday?
despite denial by the wts of any 1975 armageddon predictions zealous jw's did believe it, openly talked about it, and some even sold houses & belongings in anticipation of it.
do you have or know of any good 1975 stories?.
here's mine.........i was a freshman in college and had quit attending the kh back in hs.
They deny, deny, deny the ever said anything about 1975, btw I graduated high school in 1975, that probably wasn't supposed to happen also.
May 1974 Kingdom Ministry - page 3 How Are you Using your Life? - mentions that some brothers were selling their homes, saying that pioneering is a fine way to spend the short time left
Awake Magazine, May 22, 1969 - says young people will never fulfill a career that this system offers. Where will this system be after four years
looking back over my life, the only thing that i can say i truly enjoyed as a jw was meeting and becoming friends with a number of jws who were fine musicians and had experienced various measures of success in what used to be called the "music business.
tommy reynolds, from the vocal group hamilton, joe frank & reynolds ("don't pull your love out on me, baby" and "baby, baby, fallin' in love, i'm fallin' in love again") recruited me to play drums in his dallas circuit assembly orchestra in the 1970s.
in 1977, i became friends with legendary jazz composer/arranger/band leader benny golson, whose life story appeared in the oct. 8, 1980 awake, and who appeared opposite tom hanks in steven spielberg's "the terminal.
Roger - I don't even know if she's alive now, I know her husband passed ten plus years ago, but back in the day did you know the jazz trumpet player Jimmy Cleveland and his wife Janet? Back in the 40's and 50's she was a singer, Quincy Jones even mentioned her in his biography he wrote a while back. She was a JW but her husband wasn't. She was my piano teacher in the late 60's-early 70's and he was in the band of The Merv Griffin Show at that time. The show moved to LA and they moved to California in the late 70's,
there are a lot.
anything blood related was difficult to reasonably prove from a witness perspective.. 1914 was another one.
what can you add to the list?
When you look back and think about all the BS you used to believe in their all foolish.
let's play a game of believe it or not, shall we?
i'll relate a story, and you decide whether you believe it or not.
what would you think of an elder who told his daughter's fiance that he would kill him if he ever did anything to hurt his daughter?

At least that faithful servant of Jah just threatened death.
I guess you're not from the NY area, you didn't hear of the story in the mid 80's of a sister who had her husband killed as they came back from the meeting one night in the vestibule of their apartment building in either the Bronx or Brooklyn. Made the news and everything
