the thing that gets me about Prince. . . and Serena and Michael. If any of us here when we were faithful servants showed up at the Hall in an outfit like Prince wears, or was even spotted out on the street dressed like that, are found a photo of us butt naked like Serena, we'd be in that back room so fast your head would spin. So I'd like to know just how much are they contributing to that Publishing company to keep the elders from noticing?

Does anyone remebr the "Rooming Work"
by exwhyzee inwhen a convention was to be held in your city and it was believed there weren't enough hotel rooms available or at least affordable ones, the witnesses living in that city were asked to go out into the territory and ask people if they had a room or rooms someone attending the convention could use.
you could report your time doing this as part of your ministry.
i could never bring myself (14 or 15) to do this....it just seemed too weird for a kid to go to a house and ask the householder for a room but many kids in the hall did this.

Yeah, I remember that, in NYC I distincly remember going door to door in the 60's with my mom, but instead of selling the rags, the question was do they have space to put up a family for the assembly. Does anyone else remember the kickoff meeting (think that's what they called it) at Yankee Stadium, that laid out the rules or whatever about going door to door asking for lodging?

Emotional affairs JW style
by highdose ininspirared by another topic.. i wittnessed a number of "emotional affairs" as a jw.
were normaly elders were invovled and although nothing physical happened ( or was found out) there was a definatate emotional connection made by two people who were married to others.
i saw many great flirtations, people who couldn't keep away from eachother too.

Happened in my cong with a married elder, who was spending a lot to time with a sister (with 4 kids btw) and unbelieving husband, he was removed as an elder, and he was one of the old time elders, in the "truth" since the 30's or 40's.

one of the waitresses has a 15-year old downs syndrome son who she occassionally leaves home alone while she works.

Is the person who told you this a JW? i remember back more than 20 years, Valerie told me some story about a Hall in the south or something, that was demonized and burned to ground or some BS like that, then later had to admit to me that the story wasn't true.

Do not go to collage this past Sunday at the special assembly day!
by life is to short inat the special assembly day they interviewed a elder who came into the truth in the early 50's he had just signed up for collage and was starting his life at the age of 18 or 19 then he learned the truth.
a elder came to him and asked why he wanted to go to collage when the system's end was so close.
he realized that the elder was right.

the horror, i'm so totally shocked and stunned!!
you mean a poor family from gary, indiana hit the big time, and although the mother was a jw and the dad was not, and the kids were signed to million dollar contracts while in their teens .

I did not "succumb" I was raised in the cult but never bought into it, however . . . it is what it is, when the unbelieving father is still in the home the mother is supposed to step up as far as spiritual things are concerned, believe me, I know this for fact...
And Gayle, if the elders were afraid of ol' Joe, more power to him !! Reminds of when i had to curse out the elders when I chose as being my moms guardian, the decision to give her blood, the same day some pious sisters came to visit her (she had a stroke so couldn't speakl) Don't you know I cursed out Dear Bro. Elder who had the nerve to call me after it was "REPORTED" to him that she received blood.
Funny though, at her memorial he and his wife were extremely cordial to me, guess they didn't want to be cursed out again in the funeral home!
