Is it really that great being one of the Governing Body Members?
by John Aquila inmovie stars travel to, or buy their own private beaches, they get invited to fun parties, and are able to buy not one, but several fast sport cars like jay leno.
they can buy their own planes and helicopters and fly them like harrison ford.
(how much fun would that be?

Do you find it hard to be around active JW's now?
by EdenOne ini do - actually, it's become close to unbearable.. and herein lies the paradox: i tried to fade in the illusion that i might keep contact with family and friends still "in".
was it worth it?
because not only most of them shun me anyways, but i find it almost unbearable to be around them, especially when the cult chit chat kicks in: every cute animal video clip triggers endless comments about glimpses of the future paradise and how "god did it"; those greasy praises to the organization and the governing body; the dumb awe about every jw broadcast and those cheesy music videos; the endless drivel against other religions when one knows perfectly well that we're no better than them; the endless flow of "experiences" of field service or spectacular conversions into "the truth"; the relentless congregation gossip; and so on .... i ask myself: is this why i am fading for ...?

I haven't been to a meeting since the 80's and the only Dub I was around every few months was my hairdresser, who needless to say had a lot of the sisters as clients. I stopped going about 7 or 8 years ago, although I couldn't afford to go to her every few months, I just couldn't take it anymore, she wasn't the problem it was the sisters that were there talking about this study and "how we're a busy people" and all that BS JW speak just grates on the nerves.
Only interesting thing I heard was when the sister who's the hairdresser told me her ministerial husband found a way to get free HBO cable. Also, she was the one that collected the money weekly for a SuSu, which is like a pyramid scheme where you put your money in every week and one person gets paid off every week.

Outlaw did that really happen?
I mean I know the Dubs are always ready to blame the demons for everything, but these folks never heard of a furnace before?

To babtize or not to babtize, that is the question.
by username ini just had a look over at the pro jw forum because there's always something that can have one laughing ones arse off at the rather less thought of answers.. this one had me nearly choking on my pepsi.
apparently some church had a mass babtism in a football field and this was one of the replies..... ....who would even want to baptize in a football field?.

I just find it interesting that in the title of your post you spell the same word wrong two times, but in the last sentence of your post you spell it right

I don't know if they still use it, but in the 1970"s in the Inwood section of Manhattan, but we had our Circuit Assembly in an old Jewish Synagogue that they purchased.

Has anyone asked older Jdubs how they feel about the GB annointed getting younger?
by sherrie11 ini was married to a 30 year old jw back in the 90's and he claimed to be of the annointed.
he partook at the memorials and all the elders and older jdubs didnt believe him.
they actually gave him a really hard time.

For anyone to think that they're one of anointed their ego must be ten times worst than that pompous elder we all know who thinks he get direction straight from Jah.
I don't understand why they're letting the younger people partake instead of pulling them into the backroom and show them a few scriptures.

Books by Former Witnesses
by GiftsinMen ini am interested in reading books published by former jws which detail personal experiences of their time with the organisation.
i know of coc, exiting the jw cult, mamas club, 30yrs a wt slave, and told ones were written by otwo, punk and terry.
i'd like to spend some time making my way through them so titles, authors and links would be really useful.

I read Kyria's book too, it has a lot of funny moments, but some of things she experienced she brought on herself .
Young people's brains plus being raised in JWs is not a good mix

Nearly Killing My Mother Wasn't Enough !
by cookiemaster inas some of you might have read last week, my mother had extremely low hemoglobin and without it, she would have died.
i have somehow managed to bring her to reason and accept the transfusion.
it saved her life.

I guess it's your mom's house not yours, so that's why they were allowed to come in.
Makes my blood boil that she had to take her BP in front of them to show how sick she is! They should've been booted straight out on their ass and cursed out.
