I know someone who grew up in Baltimore during the 70's and she told me that the Congs couldn't play records at wedding receptions, can someone tell me what scripture supports that ??

Why "fancy dress" and "theme weddings" were BANNED by our Congregation!
by Witness 007 inour kingdom hall was in a boring town of 30,000 people so to spice things up me and some special pioneers living with us decided to have a fancy dress up party!
what could go wrong?
nice clean fun, and no booze (oh crap!).

How Many Witnesses Would Really Take Blood?
by minimus inup until the very end, my mother refused blood.
it didn't matter if it was a blurred line or not, the bible says "no blood"!
i wonder if she was in the minority, in her thinking.

So even when they allowed fractions, she wouldn't bend on the previous application of 'no blood, no how, no way'
You know what, my mother is the same. But she is old school and there are few with that sense of conscience and fundamental principle anymore
That applied to my mother, however, when she was in the hospital and I was Court approved as her legal guardian I gave consent for her to receive blood and she did.I posted this part before, but the day she had the hookup in her arm of course some nosy sisters from the KH were visiting who in turn reported it to the Elder, who in turn called me, who I in turn told him in the most 4 letter worded way I could think of to mind his f***ing business.

Who has a harder time leaving JW's - Born Ins or those who converted?
by HeyLittleGirl inmy freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.

I think it is harder for born ins because your whole life you've been told that "the truth" is the right way to live
Not this born in, so as a kid I just found sitting thru meetings boring, I guess I would've felt the same way at any other church, when I was growing up most kids went to some kind of church service. When I got older and saw the "goings on" in the Cong and most of the other kids during our teenage and young adult years used to leave me out, i guess because I wasn't baptized or whatever and have my mother stand by them, and say " if only you showed interest . . . .", yet they claim to be the only true, loving religion on earth?

by Richard_I infrom this post on reddit.com/r/exjw, damon wayans was at the 2017 annual meeting.
the wayans were raised as jw's but i don't think any of them stated.. strange to see him here.
this is the same man who defended bill cosby from all the sex abuse allegations..

I remember more than ten years ago when he was on Howard Stern's show he said that while he was on SNL and it's been quite a while since then, he would still go in field service and people would recognize him. He must be on of those confused born-ins, I know a few of them who weren't even born in, they do everything under the sun, yet for some reason they still think that JW is the real truth.
Someone in the Cong I used to attend is one of those that got baptized, dated a brother yet these two did everything married couples do and more but they didn't run to the elders to report it, for a good while they stopped attending meetings, then something mysterious draws them back, yet when I talk to her she sounds just as far away from the Dubs as I am,( not to mention her two failed marriages to non JWs) on her FB page under occupation she has Publisher of Jehovah's Witnesses . . .I don't get it.

Do They Still do Door-to-Door as Much as Before?
by cofty insince the advent of the trolleys do the majority of jws still go door to door like we used to?.
do they still have meetings for field service on sat mornings and sun afternoons where most head off to the local territory while one or two go to do trolley work or has the importance of door to door work reduced?.
with the reduction of printing wts and awakes what will they offer at the doors?.

Last year I saw some sub Dubs in the same area a few times knocking on some doors. Sometimes I'll see them, three or four walking down the street in my nabe like they're on the way to their territory, though not as often as I used to see them.

Recent JW Literature Trolley Experience
by Athanasius inthe j ws have set up a literature trolley in one of our local shopping centers.
since the goodwill thrift store at the center has an excellent selection of second hand books, i stop by twice a month and buy a book or two that catches my interest.
as a result i've become friendly with the j ws who mind the trolley.. usually the minders are two 70 something j w ladies.

Theres' a guy I see quite often who has two crutches, have the elbow rest on them (just perfect for when you're standing like a statue getting those hours in) in a certain area in Manhattan, he must be a pioneer, I even stopped and talked to him a few years ago and said that you think you're doing this for Jehovah but you're out here just for 7 old guys in Brooklyn. Last time I saw him was a week or so ago on a rainy day, he was in the station, I could tell that his shirt was wet from the rain, and he stands there with his illness holding the rags on crutches. I don't even understand how he gets up and down the steps because this station doesn't have an elevator.

It's tragic to be sure, but it really makes one wonder how JW's will spin this. What do I mean?
Exactly WC!! I was thinking the same thing! I'm sure they were all so happy to have more ammunition about the big A being just around the corner and they've lost one of their own.
Back in the day my mother and all the rest of the pompous Dubs would have said "you see, if she was home studying for the meeting instead of going out listening to that worldly music she would still be alive" ! Probably they'll still say such nonsense

Waiting to see when the first mental patients come out and say this didn't happen like the Sandy Hook school where 30 first graders were killed
