The Holy Spirit... and DOES God Speak to Us?
by AGuest inmay you all have peace.
last night when i went to bed, my heart was quite heavy: there were things on it, in it, thereon... whatever... that i could not reconcile: i know what i have heard from my lord - how do i get others who love him to grasp that such a thing is possible, to understand that they do not have to take my word for it, but can ask him, for i am nothing more than a good-for-nothing-slave... and have "sold" myself into the "service" of the one who "bought" me... so that it is his will that i must obey... whether earthling man hears... or refrain?
this is not new "fight" with me, let me tell you: i know exactly how jeremiah felt, for i cannot count the times my heart has felt the same thing.

I've just been on the cerebro-phone with Binky the Pink Unicorn, and she tells me that she's sorry for the inconvenience about everyone hearing Jesus. She'd just popped out to 7-11 for some miracle wheat and he managed to get the headset from the counter. It wont happen again because the little brat is now GROUNDED.

'Jesus box' exposed as fake
by Rado Vleugel in'jesus box' exposed as fake
a stone box touted as the oldest archaeological evidence of jesus is, in fact, a well-crafted fake, israeli archaeological experts say.
the box, an object known as an ossuary, was said to have contained the bones of jesus' brother james.

Berten:
Ever been to airports in the developing world, say, in Africa or South America? They're not exactly beacons of tight security. On one of my trips, all the people in the departure lounge had to return and go through the xray machine thing again because it had been on the blink for God knew how long and no-one had noticed. I've also been hassled by souvenir salesmen on the runway, though granted a security guard did chase them off after he woke up from his nap.
Consequently, I don't find it particularly surprsing that someone managed to nick an aircraft. It obviously took some planning, but who is going to question a bunch of appropriately dressed guys who appear to be doing maintenance work on one of a number of old aircraft? Probably it was an inside job. And once the plane began to taxi, it was questioned.
As for tracking the plane, this is Northwestern Angola we're talking about here. Not exactly an area that the Americans would dedicate an extremely expensive spy satellite to full time. From the news stories, the Americans have been taking pictures of airports and runways in the area, but obviously this would only have begun once they knew about the theft. Somehow I don't think that the Angolan air traffic controllers keep the number for NORAD taped to their monitors, so that wouldn't have been for quite some time. Nor would NORAD have suddenly had alarms going off just because a plane happens to take off from Luanda airport.
So where is it? Oh, somewhere in Southern Africa. It's a big place, with plenty of places to hide, and lots of camouflage. That's assuming it's still in one piece, of course. It may well have been stripped for parts to be sold. Or maybe it will be sold to terrorists, but that's only a possibility.
But really, where's the conspiracy here? Do you really think that the American government is cooking this whole thing up to justify some fiendish war? Or maybe it just a theft of a plane after all. Which is more probable?

Atheists....
by dottie in.
just a question to satisfy my own curiosity.... do atheists believe in christmas or easter???.
i always thought that real staunch atheists didn't because of the jesus involvement in these holidays....anyone know?

I believe in Christmas and Easter because an observable instance of both happens once per year.
I don't believe the mythology that they are based upon.

South East England - love of the greater number cooling off
by truthseeker inhi everyone, in the congregation i grew up in, it was very cold and unloving.
circuit overseers would come and go, they would give counsel and nothing changed.
at one time even the do came at the same time as the co and gave counsel to 'widen out'.

Generally the South East is a lot cooler than say, London or the North. The congregation I grew up in had a lot of overspill types from London, so it had the reputation of being the friendly cong in the area. (I still can't eat goat curry).
In contrast, those intellectuals in Cambridge were ice-cold, so the rumour mill went. And as for the other small town congregations around, well, they didn't need fridges to store their meat!
IMO, being the most affluent area of England, the JW's in the South East simply have a nicer standard of living and so are not so dependent upon the Watchtower cult for any scrap of hope and pleasure in their lives.
That's why our local needs talk were frequently on the subject of materialism and not letting worldly pursuits crowd out spiritual i.e. Watchtower interests. Most people nodded complacently and then went outside to check out the Presiding Overseer's new Mercedes.

WoMD ... so where are they?
by Simon innow, the war is over, the weapons were not used and of course have not been found.. how threatening could they be if they did not even use them when being invaded by a massive force (of the countries they hate)?!
perhaps, as many suspect, they didn't use them because they didn't have them?.
now we're being told that we'll have to be patient and give them time to find them.

Teenyuck, I shouldn't really tell you this because it's top secret "Dubya" class classified, but it was the CIA who actually stole the plane. Tomorrow morning it's going to be flown up Searchfothetruth's toilet and crashed into whatever it hits on the way up. This will hopefully remove a threat to the Neo-Conservative agenda to take over the world, one clapped out third world country at a time.

Why Was Adam Blocked From Tree of Life?
by AGuest inbecause... the leaves of such tree... were for curing.
curing what?
had adam reached the tree and ate... he would have been cured of his sins and once again become sinless.
-
expatbrit
No no no, you're all not thinking like God.
See, if Adam had made it to the tree and eaten, then his sins would have been forgiven right? Presumably by the tree. But you see, God couldn't have that. He'd said Adam was going to die, and He can't change his mind even though He's God and can give the universe's biggest titty twist to anyone who objects.
So instead, it was much better for there to be thousands of years of death, war, rapine and butchery so that man really really got to think about how much of a screw up the whole eating-the-tasty-looking-fruit-that-just-happens-to-be-growing-around thing was. Then of course, it's a snip for God to send his own Son to Earth to wander around the desert like a looney for three years and then get nailed to a tree. This obviously means that God just might decide to forgive someone and not be accused of changing His mind.
Course, you need another few thousand years of war, rapine etc etc for everyone to figure that out. Then along comes God's Son, who's obviously pretty pissed with having hands that disqualify him from games of hide and seek, and he kills just about everyone because God has decided that He really can't be arsed to forgive them after all.
It all makes perfect sense when you think like God.
