i am searching for answers so please be patient with me.

a few weeks ago i started a thread explaining that i wanted to read the entire bible for the first time.
i had been reading the kjv and i read revelation, john i, ii, ii and then i read john, matthew, mark, luke using the kjv in that order at someone's suggestion here.
i further took the suggestion of the poster and purchased an niv bible.
You have got to be kidding...I cannot believe people still fall for this crap.
Dragon, I guess I just took this personally and I apologize if this wasn't meant as an insult.
It would be better to follow and pursue your own guesses than someone elses.
This is some really great advise. But I am curious to hear what others who are more knowledgable about this stuff than I am have to say about things in order to reach my own conclusion. I know the truth is, no one really knows until they die.

I dunno, the online NIV says: "This is what the LORD says: 'Your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb, I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself".
Yes, this is what is written in my NIV Bible too. I was just being picky I guess. It conveys the same message that was posted earlier but uses different words. The meaning is the same.
Thank you all for your posts. They are very informative and after I read them a couple of times things begin to sink in. However, I must say that they raise many more questions for me than they give answers.

anybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.
i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.
if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?
I was 9 years old and was in attendance at Yankee Stadium in NYC. Our congo rented a school bus for transportation and I remember getting food poisoning or maybe it was heat stroke toward the end of the convention and threw up all over the bus on the way home one night. Of course, the next day I was not allowed to stay home and when we showed up for the bus I remember no one wanting to sit anywhere near me.
My older sister got her dunk at Yankee Stadium, I was so jealous! Is that when the blue "Apostacy Truth Book" was introduced?

I have been studing it for years looking for answers....yet for every answer I find there is a counter to it.
Dragon, the above are your own words from a thread you started, and I understand the frustration there. I am happy for you that you have come to a conclusion but, I would hope you would allow others to continue on their journey for truth without hurling insults.
Problem is..it seems to be a hopeless direction....and that was not exactly what i was trying to find. I would like to find a little hope.
Again, totally understand where you were coming from here. Funny, that's what I am trying to find , too. Have you found it yet?
I myself have not spent years studying the bible and probably won't either. But I would like to at least read the bible once through so I can come to my own conclusions.
Thanks for your input.

she will be 48 years old on 4/24/07 and this will probably be the first birthday card she has received, being a life time jw.
thanks to jwd, i no longer will be treating her with kid gloves, she will now be treated as family, like it or not.. .
I always call my mom on her b-day even though she shuns me. I just say, "OH HAPPY DAY!"

The most important thing that I have learned here is that I am not spiritually dead!

my wife and i have lived in this home for four summers now.
for the first two summers we enjoyed watching the butterflies, dragonflies, hummingbirds and the rare hummingbird moth.. at the beginning of our third summer we had a new visitor that found a location to biuld a nest on a shutter of our house.
it was a bird called the eastern pheobe.
I know what you mean. I have bats here and although I don't really care for them they do keep down the bug population in my yard. Besides it's illegal here to kill them.
As far as your that nasty butterfly eatin birdy - toast it!

OK first off, a big thank you to all who replied.
Nark, I read the thread that you posted and I am astonished that Jehovah had a Father! I never heard of El. My first thought is that He is the God to be worshiped since apparently, He was first before Jehovah. (this made for some really wacky dreams last night).
The Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, makes it clear that God created all things, that only God Almighty is the Creator.
Undisfellowshipped
Um, right now it is not clear at all.
Isaiah 44:24 says that Jehovah created all things alone, all by Himself. - Undisfellowshipped
My bible does not have the "alone, all by himself" in it. Maybe my bible is missing some stuff. (NIV BIBLE in 90 days cover to cover).
I will take a look at the web sites you posted when I have more time. I have to go to work soon.
Yo BFD! I told you to stay away from that stuff! It'll just mess you up.
Nvr
Like I'm not already messed up. Maybe this will put me over the edge! Ever hear that you can be so far to the left that you're right? lol
The Trinity Fairy Tale pounded into our brains by the churches (They say God was talking to His other Split Personalities- MAD
In your mind the Trinity is a fairy tale. In my mind traits of a split personality would be posting on apostate web sites and still attending meetings? in defiance of your FDS. I'm still a nice guy you know.
I didn't manage to finish it the second time around, the whole thing became pointless to me. Allalongthewatchtower
I will finish reading at least once. But I am not ready yet to deny the existence of God, partly due to fear and partly due to the fact I've never read about Him. I only know what I was spoon fed as a Witless.
So, is my Bible crap? Why would phrases be omitted like in Isaiah 44:24. I wonder what else might be missing. URGH!
Have a great day everybody!

One more thing...
Startingover, I set a goal to read the entire Bible and I intend to finish it. However, next on my list is most likely going to be "Athiest's Book of Bible Stories". It just sounds too logical to resist. Thanks!
