i read through them from time to time and i always feel better after sharing the thoughts of yesterday and today's greatest minds.

A friend told me of a proverb that he found ( there were alot of false stories going through the congregation about him) and I also found to be very true.
"A person who slings mud is losing ground."
But my friend later added to this proverb some years later (after the truth was found out),
"Once the person has dug a hole with the mud that he has thrown at you, you then bury him with with his own mud!"
i once called on a guy who invited us straight in...then told us he was "lazarus son of god.
" he had a cazy look in his eye, and would repeat this line every few minutes.
the brother with me was trying to "reason from the scriptures" that he in fact could not be lazarus...i just wanted to leave.
While a few of us teens were out fishing after sunday afternoon FS during summer, one of my mates said "You are not going to believe what I saw."

"They had the stereo up loud enough. Brother So&so had trouble hearing her and asked if she was busy entertaining. She said "yes". She then saw me looking inside and smiled at me and she opened the door even more to see inside. Man I couldn't believe what I seen with my own eyes. There were people everywhere in the house naked having sex."
I'll think I'll leave it at that. Man we were jealous of him, he was about the only guy that got to see half naked women at the doors. When we did the territory, I think that most of use guys were trying arrange the doors for us to do the doors that he encountered those glorious visions.

I loved Rythmn and Blues. There were alot of us young ones that like it too, even an elderly elder's wife. She could quote them of by heart too, especially to really old stuff. There was one brother that was also really into it like myself and but he especially liked the "heavier stuff". When we use to have busy bees at our KH, he'll have the car stereo going full blast while we worked outside, or even inside the hall (especially when no elder's were around he’ll play the raunchier stuff). One time during a working bee an elder came up and said for us to turn it off. The brother turned around and said "What's wrong with John Lee Hooker?" The elder said "This is not the time and place for it. Turn it off." The brother replied "What about if I put on Beethoven or Tchaikovsky for you?" "Anything other than that rubbish!" replied the elder. So the brother puts on another tape which was classical of some sort (I don't know who) which blasted out something that of a marching tune. "You like this?" "That's much better" The brother just turned to him and said "You are a hypocrite. You like listening to a orchestra piece that’s playing out a battle between the Russians and the French. And you are complaining our music not being appropriate?" He then returns to the car and changes back the tape to JLH. He was a wiz when it came to things like that.
with the 2007 service year stats out one could be forgiven for thinking that wt's problems are over, the child abuse settlement an itch in their bethel backside and the blood issue a minor annoyance.. if the truth were known, it is probably that more often than not, congregations are in decline, attendance is poor and few new recruits are not already jw family members.. so, if you know how your congregation is doing, if you have the pulse of your hall, let us know.. .
my congregation (which shall remain nameless).
dwindling attendance at all meetings (around 80%).
The congregation that I am in is ever-changing, as people usually come and go very regulary. So there was no means or standards to judge by (other than the ratio of meeting attendance with publishers which usually stays the same 95% for most meetings). You had your stayers (usually the old folk), but alot of families come and go. Some came from the outside, and others went to the outside. One year we would have 100+ and another year was 80+ and the following year vice-versa.
However, a friend (which I happened to bump into a DC a year ago after not seeing him for about 10 years) had reported that the congregation that he is in, they were originally 70+ for a rural town with 5 elders and 5 MS's went in a short space of time down to 35 publishers and 3 elders and 1 MS, and then went down to 20+ publishers with only 1 elder and 1 MS. They ended up having to use elders/MS's from nearby rural congregations (about 45mins drive in any direction) to help with their meeting parts. I don't know if they are still doing it though.
This was due to one family that I happen to know of (and he knew of them too as we had run-ins with them at CA's in our youth) moved into his congregation and absolutely ripped the heart out of it. I never been to his congregation, but my friend said it was one of the best congregations around (and he has been to quite a few), very relaxed and they had heaps of fun - even more relaxed then the one that we grew up in. They moved in, it just went straight to hell. People just couldn't put up with them and their antics and just moved out to nearby congregations while most of them still work in the area. The only increase they had were from DF's ones being re-instated. It ended up that the CO had to recommmended that this elder stand down for the benefit of the congregation. Which he did and then they started getting the other congregations to help them out. (But as long he and his family stays there, that congregation will never get back up on its feet).
The ironic thing is, the congregation that this family left, virtually doubled in one week. My second-cousin lived in a neighboring congregation that used the same hall and they had the biggest BBQ party ever between all the congs that shared that hall. (I think the entire circuit did too). The other congregations that used the same hall attendance fell by the same amount of congregation that rose. Mainly because there were many of those that lived in that congregations area but went to the others meetings.
the memory of this just popped back into my mind.. i was at a 3 day congress, and the ending prayer was said by this really old brother.
he was one of the survivors of wo ii concentration camps were he was put for being a jw.. anyway, the poor man started his prayer with thanking jah, and then he recalled every piece and play of the three day congress.
i bet the man had written his prayer on paper and rehersed it each day adding a new 15 minutes to it ... he even mentioned a part where a witness lady replayed an incident on the street - she gave witness to by-standers - and one of the people she talked to had a stuffed dog.
While most concluding prayers are majority the longest, but at one DC at Warwick Farm Racecourse late 80's - early 90's, the brother doing the OPENING PRAYER went for 17 minutes and 38 seconds and this was for a Friday morning. One of my mates timed it - he was notorious for his very long prayers. The saddest bit was the lunch session was cut 30 mins shorter because most of the morning talks went overtime. Then the afternoon went overtime again by 35 minutes due to some stupid experiences. I hated that day. I thought skipping would have been great. I should've went to school.
i've come to love and cherish much of the wisdom that emanates from the dear ladies of this forum and believe watchtower boobed in making all women subservient to the men.

I always thought that elders wives were the "Elders". What does the scriptures say? God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of Man, Man is the head of Woman. But the Woman is the neck of the body amd she turms the Head where-ever she wants.

The reason men only go to the Empty zone is for the following reasons: 1/ Why don't men put the toilet set down? Same reason - You are a big girl now, you can do it yourself. 2/ We "may" get lucky in the back seat if we do happen to run out of gas. 3/ It limits the amount of distance the women travels to their mother. 4/ It limits you from using your vehicle for rural witnessing or doing calls.
