Get a job, work hard and save your money then buy it!
After a while, they'll leave you alone.

by Witness 007 in1. the elder i was in a bissness with decided a hand shake was not a contract, and paid me $500 dollars instead of the $3,000 he should have....i felt so stupid, but quit with him and treated him like a disfellowshiped person since....also he would pay me half a days wage when i worked from 8am till 3pm ???????
when told about this he said sorry but "couldn't work out how to re-emburse the lost hours.".
2. my elderly mum sold some furniture when moving, to a sister who promised to pay from her single parent pension in small installments........nope!

a bethelite's viewpoint on the recent organization changesto me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.
it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

All I can say is, if there are big problems at the top, it is surely to filter through the ranks to those at the bottom.
I can remember that several DC and CA were urging Brothers to reach out, but none were stepping up to the plate other then those who like doing butt licking, want to have prominence or part of an influencial family. These are the only new recruits that they are getting. As for the "genuine" elder material, they are getting few and far between now.

im recently separated, (i left my spouse) and i believe they are after me to df me for adultery as ive taken up with someone else.
i havent returned their calls, (they've been coming the last 2 weeks or so)

You could always invite them at your place with your new partner.
Arrange for a exact time that when there knock on your front door, that your door is wide open and you are doing the "deed" in full view with your partner.
It will answer all their questions at once, even without them verbally asking!

Meeting schedule rearranged...WHY?
by sir82 inofficial speculation thread.... even if a reason is given for the meeting rearrangement when it is announced on 4/27, we all know how the society spins things (e.g., awake magazine being reduced to one issue per month to "put more emphasis on the bible" real reason.. .
so why is the society doing this?
on the surface, it seems to be a loosening of control.

I dont know if it will be just the US or worldwide, but looking at the May KM, it has an announcement regarding the CBSO making sure that the emergency numbers of publishers are up to date. This had lead me to think of the following:
1/ The change will not be immediate, as they have already announced the next book. Judging by a few other posters, the change maybe applied to the following book.
2/ Most congregations have poor meetings attendances for both the TMS and BS.
3/ There is a shortage of CBSO who are 'qualified', but this has no real impact as basically any elder is 'qualified' no matter how bad they are
4/ Insurances have nothing to do with it, but peadophiles cases may have some bearing in the US
Lastly,
5/ Don't you know that they are God's Holy Spirit Guided Organisation? They can do whatever they feel like!

When an elder steps down - does he stay a ministerial servant?

My experience has shown me it has do with the circumstances of that particular elder.
Area 1 - Removing
Elders that are removed are usually for the heavier matters.
1) I have heard/seen elders removed where they are never to be re-appointed, eg causing divisions in the congregation, apostasy etc.
2) Elders can be removed for other serious judicial reasons, eg fornication etc. (Sometimes the body may recommend the elder to voluntary stepdown if he happens to confesses the sin before it becomes public knowledge, thus saves them the embarressment of being removed.) Depending on crime depends on how they can be re-appointed.
Majority of cases there are usually appointed as MS, then at a later date as an elder. 2-3 years time period is usually the standard period, but things can and do happen quicker for many reasons. At times, they may be reappointed directly as an elder without being firstly an MS. Rare, but there have been cases have happened in the past.
Area 2 - Stepping Down (Voluntarily)
1) An elder can step down for few reasons, eg family commitments, sickness etc.
2) Some find that being an elder is not what it cracks up to be, or is out of their capabilities (eg compassionate, long-suffering with the brothers, etc).
Most common for a elder to step down is usually sickness or family commitments.
These either have the option where they can go back to being a MS if they feel that they can still handle to 'running of the business' responsilities, but they dont want the teaching/shepherding responsilities. Alot of environmental factors can play in this area too, eg not enough MS in the cong, or they have plenty but they do not wish the elder to feel lonely etc.
Most of elders that step down, just wishes to be a publisher until things are back in order. When the time is right again, they can be either be appointed as an elder or MS.
Area 3 - Stepping Down (Forcibly)
1) An elder that has rocked the bandwagon can be forced to step down by others (especially those who want a tight grip on the cong).
2) Some elders step down cause they cannot get along with the "Body" and find it better to stay out of the circle.
In most of these cases, once the elder steps down, they usually will not reach out for any priviledges ever again. True the saying, "once bitten, twice shy".
Others that want to reach out again either:
a) are just wanting to get back at the body
b) are just plain suckers for punishment
c) are genuinely true elder material, but wishes to get on with things and makes it a learning lesson. (Very, very, very rare)

How would you build a World from scratch?
by edmond dantes inhave you ever done diy or made something from scratch and stepped back and thought something isn't quite right ,it just doesn't look right ,it doesn't work as it should and it takes days before you figure what's wrong?
well that's how i view the concept of god as the creator.nothing adds up , the proposition just doesn't look right.maybe the stories in the bible looked right when they were first written and people accepted the bible's statements at face value, but the longer i live the more sure i am that the concept of an almighty creator as expounded in the bible just doesn't add up,it doesn't look right.there must be another explanation waiting to be discovered.. with all this in mind let us imagine what really happened right at the very beginning but try to make it logical if it is at all possible.how would you go about creating a world like ours ?
