June 12th is tomorrow, are you ready for armageddon?
by dawg inisn't tomorrow armageddon?
i think i'll sleep late just in case... an elder called my friends house and said that armageddon was almost certain to come this year; an urban myth stated that it would be tomorrow.
i guess i'll wait to make that car payment.

I must say that I am very curious
by Grins ini am looking for information on the beliefs of jehovah's witness i do not know much and i am afraid that most of what i am finding is biased information one way or the other.
i did find a "fact sheet" and i am wondering if all of it is true or not.
i looked at the watchtower website for answers to a few of these and so far i am finding them to be true.

college is discouraged, but, not as badly looked upon as it once was. all the others are 100%fact. these aren't even the scary ones. wait until you really get into it. if you need any help, we are all here to do that.

i used to encourage people to clap when they normally wouldn't. when someone would mak a mundane point, i'd start clapping, and eventually, everyone would join in. timing and persistance is the key. it makes the time go faster.

Are ex-JW still gullible or serpent-like?
by BEROEAN injust wondering if ex-jws find it hard to trust others since their bad experience or are they still gullble souls?
just wondering because some of the stories i read about past experiences are off the charts!
some of you, your childhoods, your parents are seriously jacked up!

well, i am not cautious, if someone asks me what i think, i tell them, but, i don't actively try to get people into debate. my parents are afraid to talk to me because i have a crazy mind and can put things in a light that makes them think, so, they avoid the religious talk with me.

need 2 WT. articles
by dvw ini need 2 particular watchtower or awake articles.
i am sorry i cannot be more specific in my requests, but i only have a vague idea what the articles said.. 1. does anyone remember an article saying it is ok. to vote if you think it is "prudent" to do so?
( i remember the word prudent was used in the article).

i found this little nugget. under the title, how do you answer when your beliefs are challenged, a j.w. rep was being questioned by a canadian t.v. moderator and this was quoted.
Moderator: now, jehovah's witnesses urge their members to refrain from voting in elections and showing their allegiance to the flag in some countries. why is that?
witness rep.:well, to rephrase it slightly for clarification, it's the individuals choice on the part of the member on the matter of voting. yadda yadda yadda.
i forgot what g. stands for on the c.d. rom, but it refrences g1976 as to when this was printed by the w.t.s.
i'll keep looking.

Nothing better!
by KW13 inthere is nothing better than seeing someone you know who has left!.
the other day i was in town and i saw someone who left while i was still in.
everyone said things about her, how she came off the rails etc but actually she has a son, a good relationship with her father (an elder who left before her and left family because his father-in-law would make life a nightmare...well she followed).. i haven't seen the father in years or her but it was nice to catch up, a flash of horror on her face until i explained i left also and then she was really happy!.

i think most of us are like you. i think we are hard to trick, but, you said serpent-like, i take that to mean deceitful and underhanded. i don't feel that way about anyone on this board. i think we are mostly regular joes trying to help loved ones.
