I may be trying out a new church....
by Eyebrow2 inmy husband is agnostic, and i really have not been able to find a religion that i am comfortable with.
the last year or so i have really been missing having something community based and a wee bit spiritual to belong to, especially since moving to texas, where i know just a few people and oh my god...everyone down here seems to go to church.
an organization that does not make me feel like i have to look at others and view them as bad becasuse they dont believe as i do.. my husband and i have been joking that we needed to find a church of irreverence...but then i started re reading the uniterian universalist posts, and checked out the local website.

My husband and I have been joking that we needed to find a Church of Irreverence...but then I started re reading the Uniterian Universalist posts, and checked out the local website. My biggest thing is that I dont believe in the Trinity...and I think the bible is man's inspiration of what they think god is all about, not inspired by god. So, since they dont really have any creed...may be a good fit. It would be nice to have a place to go to a couple of times a month, and not worry that i have to pretend to beleive what others there believe.
any suggestions or thoughts?
wish me luck!

Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

but..what about keeping things into perspective as far as the cost of the thing existing...even if the damn thing is all paid for, they still have maintenance, insurance, utilities, etc etc etc....and with the food service gone, I dont think it would make much sense that the costs would go down too much because people had to pay for the food and all the workers were volunteers.
Now, I am not saying that maybe they are a little high, but having a piece of property as big as some of those halls are is expensive to keep up even if the hall is all paid for.
Just my two cents....

BIG IT UP 4 Big Tex & Nina...!!
by ScoobySnax inoooh-er i came over all american-ified there for a minute........ .
sometimes online, someone, or some people come across as just thoroughly "decent chaps" (thats more british) they are rare types.
i've been here just over a year and have posted some funny old stuff, sometimes when i'm angry, sometimes when i'm sad, other times when i feel critical about this forum, and sometimes some crap (as i'm sure some will remind me of) sometimes when i felt alone or worried, and lastly sometimes (coz i'm running out of sometimes) because i'm not sure where i'm headed.. throughout chris and nina, when i look back at past posts, have been kind and patient with me, particularly when i started being more honest with myself and the forum.

Eyebrow2 made it to Plano!!!
by cruzanheart inshe called to let me know they've found a house, at least for a while, on the east side of plano, near where i live.
what i didn't realize until i looked up the address is that she is about half a mile, if that, from the kingdom hall!
isn't that convenient?.

Hey just saw this...thanks Cruzen and all....
yeah I saw the kingdom hall the other day when I was bopping around the neighborhood too see if I could make it back without having to call my husband for directions.
Actually...it is pretty funny, but this will be convenient for my mum when she comes to visit...she is a raging JW (I mean that in the nicest way possible)
Thanks again for the donuts
