wow....you know I hate child molesters as much as anyone else...but shooting somebody when you don't know for sure if it is true is pretty stupid.
Doesn't sound like the shooter was very successful in many areas of life. I have never been in the military, but I had a boyfriend that was a Marine. He was a HUGE slacker....he was in for 4 years and never made it past lance corporal. He told me himself that if he had kept up with his passing his physical training better, and had not been such a slacker he should have made corporal in 4 years.
I dunno...I don't know a lot of how the rankings are, but the guy was in for three years and didn't make it past private?
Sounds like his life was a mess...that is too bad. It is really sad when a person feels that they have to join the military solely because they have no other options. I feel for his family, and the West guy's family. Even if he was guilty, this just makes it worse.

If there's some good in the Watchtower, why leave it?
by AlmostAtheist inthe post about crisis of conscience in which the poster said he knows there's some bad in the watchtower (as brought out in coc), but there's some good in it too got me to wondering about people that stay for the good in it.. the united states makes some decisions as a country that i don't agree with, perhaps even object strongly to.
but i don't disavow my citizenship.
it's mostly a good place to live, so i stay.. if you want to live in a way that utterly conflicts with the watchtower -- homosexual, multiple sex partners, smoking, whatever -- then you have reason to leave.

I think you a good point. For some, they have some things that the don't agree with, but other things that are more important to their beliefs that they do agree with. So they stay, keep their mouths shut, and live the life they want to live.
Me, I didn't agree with a lot of the stuff that was big picture for me, that's why I had to leave. But I did know a few families that didn't agree with what they considered little things, like letting your kids play on sports teams, going to see rated R movies...etc...but they didn't bring any attention to themselves either.
I think it varies were you lived too. My brother dated a pioneer several years ago that moved from a congregation in Canada. According to her family, it wasn't a big deal if you went to see a Rated R movie...and her dad was an elder..they had to stop THAT when they moved to our congregation right off the bat, hahah But that didn't stop her from sleeping with my brother.
I think she is still a pioneer today...but she is married so must have that lust contained hahah

Andy Rooney's tips for telemarketers
by xjw_b12 inthree little words that work !!
(1)the three little words are: "hold on, please..." .
saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Zev,
CONGRATS!!!
I have quit too...at least three times in the last two weeks. I have to start again tomorrow though...sigh.I told my husband more sex would help kill the desire to smoke...but he ain't buying it hahaha!
So, I told him maybe if he cleaned the bathroom instead of me that would help. I got a blank stare. You never know if you don't ask hahah.

M y Parents replied for non family business! hurray!
by Crumpet inanyone who remembered my earlier posting saying how i had texted my parents thanking them on my birthday for giving me life and telling them that i was happy here is part 2!

Crumpet....thank you for sharing! I am very happy for you!
Yes...definately contact them more in the happy mode...I think that is a good idea. Maybe they will respond better when you need to contact them when you are down if you also contact them when things are okay. You don't want your parents to think you only want them when you are in crisis mode.
I wish you the best...hopefully this can be a new start for your and your parents.!

Panties, purse and moist (when not referring to food)
The first should not be used by anyone, much less predish witnesses.
I don't know why I hate the word purse...I just do.
Moist....never bother me until I started watching "Dead Like Me" but only if not referring to food. Moist food can be good.
I have given up trying to understand it...I just accept my word wierdness.

You would think paying off at least 2 other kids 10 years ago would have helped Jacko Wacko UNDERSTAND that you don't have under age kids in the room with you without supervision.
this whole I never had a child hood crap...yes, maybe he didnt in his real child years...but he is over 40 for god sakes. He started living his second child hood in his early 20s...
He has asked for all of this negative attention. And what about his siblings and parents? you hear about them supporting their brother...which I don't have a problem with per se...but, my god...if they knew he was hanging around little kids after all the problems a few years ago, did any of them try to smack some sense into him???
Has anyone heard Janet comment on her brother's case? Is she just being smart for staying out of court and the press, or does she just want nothing to do with the whole thing? Nosey minds want to know.....
