BREAKING NEWS: Decision coming down tomorrow in Berry girls' appeal!
by loveis inthe new hampshire supreme court's official site lists the decision for this case (holly berry & a. v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york, inc. & a.
) among those "to be released july 15.".
this decision will be huge for whomever it goes for (the silentlambs or the wts) since it will be from a state supreme court, and thus precedent-setting for the other ongoing cases throughout the country.

He is our little 3 month old ferret...just got him tonight. He is a cute little guy...tried to crawl down my shirt into my bra while I was driving him home though. I was going to name him Rikki-tikki-tavi...but I had to keep saying "Sit, Ubu, sit!" several times (from the old tv shows, remember?) so the name has stuck.
Anyone else have a ferret? My sister has two, and my brother in law 5. We spend some fun hours playing with them on vacation...if this one takes to us, we may get another in a few months.

Convention banner
by sass_my_frass incall your local tv station, post this outside your local dc site, and see how long it takes for a team of young men in suits to look for a way to hide you.
"guard your children today.
my abuser is still an elder, and he's here.

Sad that that banner would be true in so many cases.

Any body here drive a skoolie??
by Eyebrow2 inafter the long drive from tx to pa, then nh, then back to pa and back to tx in a 8 passenger van w/out a/c...my husband and i have decided it is time to get something that is bit more comfortable for the long trips.
we had thought about your typical motorhomes (too expesive and not always that safe), camper trailers and conversion vans.
well, the making over our van into a conversion van wouldn't make any sense, because there still wouldn't be much extra room, even with a roof, and we would lose as seat if we put in more comfortable seats.

My husband wants a mini cooper..he may get one next year if he behaves. I would feel much safe in a skoolie than in a normal motorhome, because of the steel construction. And you don't have to black out any of the windows if you don't want..you can be very creative. Check a few out at: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/schoolbusconversionuts/ www.skoolie.net HAHAHA...oh my god you guys are sooo funny!!! Richie...I love your bus hahah.
Nina...hmmm....don't know about that...we could informally call it the apostabus and maybe I could occaisionally use it to pick up visiting apostates at the airport for visiting apostates hahah. But, I would be using it to visit my mom, and I don't think that would go over well hahah.
Actually, we were going to call it bable fish, or heart of gold, or transgalatic gargleblaster, or the whale and the petunia...something from Hitchhilers. If I can keep the stop sign that comes out, we will re paint it with the Don't Panic guy hahah...
We lost the bid...ack...someone else bid more than we can afford, so we are searching for another bus.
Maybe if we ever find one we can have a party to welcome it home, and maybe a party when it is finished (or maybe a party in between and my very good close friends here on JWD can come help paint it hahah...they would be supplied with beer of course, hahah)
In the meantime, I am trying to learn all the differences with biodiesel (you can buy it or you can make it) or using waste veggi oil (getting it free from restuarants and putting it trhough some process...yadda yadda)
The thought of being almost green driving a diesel vehicle is very cool. =)

Since we will soon be 8 in the house (sister moving in...not a new baby, thank goodness!) that didn't make much sense.
We got to talking about buses...in particular school buses. School buses are safe, and you can convert them. We have done a lot of research online and have found a lot of cool skoolies, as they are called, and have gotten a lot of good advice. It is amazing what you can do if you have the time and money. I am particularly excited because if we get a diesel engine, we can experiment with biodiesel...even make our own.
Has anyone here had or have a skoolie? Do you have pictures?? I am really excited about this project, and figured there just has to be some peeps on this board that have been in one, or own one, etc.

KNOCKING --- NEWS
by Marvin Shilmer inthe programming director for pbs has asked for the removal from the knocking web site of language indicating the program will be aired on pbs.
this does not mean the program will never be aired on pbs.
rather, the request is made because of feedback from viewers like us.

how about instead of trying to get the program off the air, try to get something on the air that has more of a balanced view.
This documetary...it seems to go over the lives of specific individuals from the site. I don't see how pushing PBS to not air it helps at all. Watch it, and send in comments to your local newspaper editorial section, and to PBS airing your concerns over anything you find that is inaccurate.
Free speech, free speech, free speech. Pushing the program off the air doesn't do much good really. This is what the WTS would try to do..actually actively DOES by bullying its rank and file to stay away from "apostate" literature and websites.

HAHAH...thanks for everyone posting and sharing their experiences here...I know there would be people here that could appreciate it!
We are leaving for a family vacation...TX to PA to NH then back to TX....all in 10 days, with all 5 kids, and no A/C in our van. So I am thinking the bead in the nose incident was maybe nature's way for preparing me for this trip.
If any of you read about a woman driving her family of a mountain in VA..it is probably me.
=)
Have a wonderful 4th weekend everyone!

Job interviews
by swiftbreeze ini was unemployed.
now i'm employed.
i'm in a position that allows me to hire people.

Swift....ahhhh the world of HR.....
I am not an HR Generalist, but a third party recruiter. My whole job is interviewing, haha...I love it, but I can totally relate to what you are saying.
In this country, work is considered a right. In my opinion, that may be true, but having a decent job is a privilage that you have to work for. People that cannot get to an interview on time usually won't get to work on time. They already show they don't value your time. (I realize there are a few exceptions to this, car accident, getting lost, real emergencies etc).
If you are interested, PM me and I will send you a link to a professional online group that may give you some good insights, a great place to network. Its free, and I have learned a lot from the site and made some friends at the same time.
by the way, Tres, congrats...sounds like your search is progressing. I still think your employer was a fool to let you go.

DO NOT make up references...Simon is right that a lot of employers are lazy about it...but here is the thing:
if you do get a job, and they do eventually check references and find out that they are fake, they can fire you for that. Many companies will hire people before they finish checking references. You don't want to lose out because you lied. And never put anything on your CV/resume that is bs. I cannot tell you how many times I have caught people making up crap, I don't care what it is, if they falsify their resume, and I find out it is bs, I put them on my do not use list. You wouldn't want to work for an employer that tells you bs about a job, so why would you expect the employer to want someone full of bs to work for them?
sorry...off my soapbox...=)
Scully had some good advice. Have you never had a job before? how about volunteer positions (excluding door to door, haha). You must know some people that aren't witnesses? how far out of school areyou? you can use teacher references if you don't have employer references....just a thought.
