I will probably be going in September when the next meeting is. I have really felt the need for some sort of religious community, but couldn't bare to go to another christian church, nor other church that is theistic in nature. I also starting reading and posting at http://www.spiritualhumanism.org. Another poster here had mentioned it, and I say thank you...you know who you are.
=)
Has anyone else gone to a humanistic church?
On another note...I found this site the other night www.churchofreality.com
They are a bit different...rather amusing. I think I will get one of their tshirts hahah.

When Did You Realize That You REALLY Were Going To Die?
by minimus inand not live forever on paradise earth?
-
Eyebrow2
You know..I didnt really think too much about it until about a year or so after I actually left, when I was pregnant with my 2nd child.
I had an incredible wave of an awareness of mortality swept over me. I had never feared dying so much before. I felt it again with my last pregnancy, but not as bad.
It makes me sad sometimes, to think it is not true. It did comfort me when my dad died, because he had seemed to be coming around shortly before he died (he was an unbelieving mate).
It doesn't make me as upset as it used to. It just makes me want to make sure I make the most out of life...because it is probably the only one I am gonna get.

I cannot believe it!!!!
by Eyebrow2 inyesterday my son and his dad were talking about his world geography class.
it turns out that he is actually in an honors class...i didn't realize that, and i was pretty happy, since he has never been in an honors class.. today, i get a phone call...i see on the caller id it is from the school district.
the first thing i think of is this :"uh-oh...which one of the kids forget their homework or lunch money...etc..etc.".

Holy Crap! Prescription meds are EXPENSIVE!!!
by Elsewhere inmy dr. had prescribed advair for my asthma.
for a 90 day supply it will cost me $75.
that's not too bad being that it will be $25 per month for me.

There doesn't really seem to be consistency, does there?
Our kids are pretty healthy, so we went with one of those catastrophic insurance plans, so prescriptions are not covered before we meet our deductible of 3K per person total of 8K per family. Eek...but we have and HSA..so we should be putting money into it tax deffered in case costs come up..but havent yet eek.
It is crazy...I do realize prescrip drugs will be expensive for several years after they have been tested and approved by the FDA, but I think the inconsistency in pricing is ridiculous. And I think it should be illegal for all these gifts that are given. Many companies in other industries do not allow gifts of more than $25 value to be given.

Our Own Conference
by Valis ini know there are conferences that xjws attend, but since i ran accross joy castro's writings and new book today it got me thinking about the subject.
something non-religious in nature.....well as non religious as xjws can get anyway lol.
i think it would be cool if we could have people like her, kimberly norris, bryan, donald, and so many of the others that have done stuff for us.

OOO I prefer Dallas...we have universities woohoo!
I think this is an interesting idea...and I think I would attend. I don't know what part I could contribute, but wouldn't mind pitching in with something.
