Besides the mention of the NH case, I don't see how the article was damaging...and why anyone at the hall would have been so offended. It seemed to be very accurate.
But, maybe I would have if I was an active JW.
when my former congregation did a quickbuild in october, i worked with a reporter at a sister paper, a hard news daily, on an article that dealt with jws - including a fair amount of not-so-flattering background - pedophile issues, the effect of the net on the witnesses, etc.
i thought the reporter was really even-handed.. i posted about it here on jwd under this topic: newspaper article on jws today - write the paper - please!!.
while i had hoped for a little harder edge to the piece, i talked with my ex-wife a few minutes ago, and found out that she and the congregation were really upset about the article.

sorry...there are just so many threads related to the "big news", reaction to the big news, and lastly reaction to the reaction to the big news...just couldn't help myself.. how about some fluff...just for a few minutes.
fluff can be good.. so, whatcha all doing today?
xmas shopping?
hahahahah bebu...that is funny.
before i created an account here on jwd, i was in a place where i really didn't care about the jw religion any more.
i didn't know or care to know about any of the "scandals".
i'd heard about the un/ngo issue and it raised my eyebrows.
As my rate of posts here dwindles, I know most of you here will begin to forget about me. This is fine. It is the way of things. I'm going to the Dallas 'fest this weekend, and I'm sure I'll get along with most. Maybe I'll meet some people I can be real friends with in "real life"... maybe not.
That is why I pretty much keep coming back. I was posting and reading a lot more when I first joined. Luckily, the DFW area has a lot of local people, so we seem to have a good number of get togethers every year. I think you will meet several people there you will want to keep in touch with offline.

Oh, well I just I have to put it into perspective for you.

Can we post reactions to reactions to your "SMALL NEWS"? Should we flame you now or later? Should all flames be in separate threads?
Hmm...I think we must have any news and threads related to the news be properly commented on various threads that MUST fall under the following categories:
There will be news (hype or underhype)
When will be big news (people hyping themselves up (or down) further)
Here is the news (taaadahhhhh!!!)
Reaction to the news (hey..this was all hype!)
Reaction to the Reaction of the news (don't be mad because it was hype)
I almost find the whole situation hilarious...if it wasn't about the blood issue I would find it totally funny. But I am a bit more adult than that...I am only finding it 50 to 65% funny on the laughOmatic meter.
Undercover: you are kind, hahah. Usually anything I post die an early death after a few comments. Therefore, you have made my day hahah.
=)

I think I am going to try to find a Cat in the Hat hat for my ferret.
for those of you who don't want to read my post in the anderson thread here is the abbreviated form:.
legal misrepresentation is not the same as the common dictionary definition.
legal misrepresentation requires that the bad actor knowingly and deliberately lied with recklessness.
Well...good for you for writing this. It is a shame that the over hyping of you piece has really taken a bit of the perceived value from it.
I know that wasn't Barbara's intention...but it is a shame anyway. I believe her heart is in the right place.
Not all lawyers agree on legal stuff...guess that is why we have so many lawyers? I am not a lawyer, nor have I ever played one on TV (but if I did, I think I would be one of those lawyers that do all the private eye stuff too and gets to carry a gun...very cool) but I am not sure if the judges in this country are ready to let a religion to be sued over faith things yet..even if info was used incorrectly. Even after the pediaphilia lawsuits against the Catholic Church, I still don't think the country is ready for that.
ANYHOO...I ask you this though...are you going to send copies of it to some major newspapers? Since you have it published in a legitmate law journal, perhaps someone would think it worthy of reporting.
I think THAT would get a little of attention...at the very least, perhaps give the rank and file a little bit too think about.
Just a thought.
