Are you going to quit smoking in order to keep your jobs?
by prophecor ina very intersting discussion on the world news, tonite.
scotts the manufacturer of lawn and garden products has given thier workers opportunities to stay healthy while in thier employ.
in an effort to cut down on the cost of health care they pay to cover thier employees, they enlisted sweeping policy changes and guidelines towards the betterment of thier workers.

Actually....you know...I think if you are given that long of a time period to quit, and you know what the results will be and you DON'T quit....hmmm...I don't know if it really violates anyone's civil rights.
There are a few other companies that have done this.
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/health/4126577/detail.html here is a case that is a year old.
I think perhaps it would depend on what type of work the person does...I have heard of fire and police departments in some areas that have no smoking policies, even on their own time. I can understand that, since the public's safety could be at risk.
This is a tough one...however, I am more inclined to think that for MOST jobs, I think they should be able to tell you that you cannot smoke on the job, but leave their outside life alone. I feel the same way about pot....not that I smoke it...but if you are not driving or working under the influence I don't really care.
Here is a pet peeve of mine, though: PAID SMOKING BREAKS. I worked for one office where the smokers went outside at least 5 times a day, for at least 10 minutes each time for smoking breaks. This was on company time. And they took a full hour for lunch. Every day...and management said nothing to them. I came back 10 minutes late from lunch one day and my boss got right on me for it. I looked at him and said :"I just decided to take a smoke break at the end. All the smokers take several, so why can't I have one?" That shut him up.

We are the experts. Only ex-jws can share the truth about the JWs.
I didn't mean to imply exJWs weren't...I agree with you there...but not me. I don't have much to add in a blog personally on this subject, but I applaud those that do.

Ever wondered about Colossians 1:23?
by scout575 incolossians 1:23b claims that by the time of writing, the good news had been preached, "to every creature ( "all creation" - nwt ) which is under heaven.
" had the good news really been preached in 'all creation under heaven' when colossians was written?
was this statement inspired by an all-knowing god or does it just reflect reflect the ignorance of the time, as to the size of the world?

What weird things have you read in the bible?
by stillAwitness inthe fact that nimrod's name means: "he stirred up the whole earth to rebel"
and yet ezra's name means: "help"
what caused nimord's mother to name him something that had such a negative meaning and yet he turned out to be just that?

the talking ass....who was beating it...Balek or someone?
absurd....and the whole fish and loves thing....I think Jesus just ordered some bread sticks online at www.pizzahut.com and had one of the apostles start handing them out.

Clean break from the WTBT$
by Honesty inis it better to make a clean break from them or to prolong it?.
i don't have anything other than my own experience to compare with and i made it clean, fast and hard.
it hurt like being stabbed in the back by a best friend but the hurt went away to be replaced with wounds and scars that are still healing.. how about your experience in getting out?

fading...and then marrying a nonbeliever...then moving 2100 miles away....
worked for me.
Go with what is comfortable for YOU. If you need to have a clean break...just go...but if you are concerned about being shunned by family members, then I would suggest thinking about doing it slowly.

What do you believe now?
by NowImFree ini have been out of the jws officially for over 3 years now, since disassociating.
after researching the history of the organization and reading the bible (without) the watchtower, i am now a christian.
i am just curious what happens to most ex-jws as far as their beliefs go, after they leave the organization.

I would like to embrace Jesus and give him a good noogie .
I think he needs one, Jehovah too....
Regarding humanist values...I am not what one would call 100% humanist...BUT....I do think that living a "good" life, as in not taking advantage of others to better yourself is just, well good.
I don't need a reward for that, and I don't think it is really a form of altruism either. I have found that living a decent life is good for ME. What goes around comes around...call it karma...whatever.
(Btw...for those that I haven't already bored to tears with this....I do go to a humanist "church"...)
Of course, what is considered decent varies from person to person some times.
