  My 2 year old answers to Boots from Dora the Explorer lately, so we are going to make her Boots (it is monkey wearing red boots for those that don't know the show).

  I wanted to make the 4 year old Dora, kinda go with a theme, but NOOOOOO...she must be a Powerpuff girl. Not sure if she is going to be Blossom or Bubbles yet. I tried to talk the husband into being Dora, but he won't cooperate either. I may have to be Dora. But I would rather dress as a pregnant nun. sigh.

  My son has declared he is too old for trick or treating, and wants to hand out the candy at home instead. I said sure, and then he asked if he could sit on the roof and toss it to the kids below....I don't think so, hahah.

  Now, for the husband, I am trying to get him to be a pirate...that is if he won't be Dora.
  I may have to borrow the neighbors dog and dress her up like Dora.

  Yes, Nina...being NORMAL is a BLAST!!!!

  People to People Student Ambassador Programs -- heard of it?

  our daughter jennie got an invitation to take part in a people to people student ambassador program, and we're kind of curious as to what this is and how much it might cost (their website shyly avoids talking about money).

  have any of you lovely people out there heard of this program?

  is it legit?.

  When I was in high school they had a program called ESL or EFS or something..cannot remember too much.
  I didn't go abroad, but was involved with a group after school that hung out with exchange students.

  when you are 17 ALL young men with an accent seem really cool, heh heh.

  As far as these programs weeding kids out..we had one exchange student from Spain that could barely speak English. Apparantly, he had someone else help filled out his application and was able to sly his way over hahah. They were not sure what to do with him when he got here. He was in my Sr. Spanish class, and it was the only class he could really understand hahah. He stayed the whole school year and with help from one of the Spanish teachers and a few students he was speaking English pretty well at the end of the year.

  He was a hottie too.=)

  been a while since i have had a chance to visit the board.

  a lot of things have happened...dealing with some business crap....ending one and starting a new one with a partner this time...dealing with child custody issues...my husband was laid off....just general stress....arghhhh!!!!.

  everything is going to work out i am sure...but i bought my first pack of cigarettes in 10 years on sunday.

  Well I am down to Ultra Lights hahaah....just a few here and there. Thank you for letting me vent everyone.

  I am feeling a bit better...the hubby got a formal job offer in writing today, so that is a bit of a weight off.

  Actually, I think margaritas behind the fence sounds pretty good as well.

  Everything is going to work out I am sure...but I bought my first pack of cigarettes in 10 years on Sunday. Something I swore I would never do again. BUT, it was the least evil thing on a whole list of options I felt that I had hahaha....I think things will get back to good soon as long as my husband and I can just keep our heads. Thank goodness we have each other. I told him that I would quick in one week if he got the job he was interviewing for. if not...I make no promises..

  Just had to vent for a few minutes...hope all is well with everyone out there....and for those that smoke out there...meet me out behind the fence in 10 minutes for a quick smoke. And those that are into reefer madness...well I did promise my husband I wouldn't go that far, but I may lean in near to take advantage of your second hand smoke...

  The 'thing' you can't separate the poster from

  i was thinking today about how all sorts of famous people from history had that one 'thing' that they were remembered by, whether it was hitchcock's silhouette, charlie chaplin's kane, or churchill's victory sign.

  what is that one "thing" you remeber posters by (whether visual, or instrinsical) i did a short list.

  please add.... i did this on a whim.

  Any of you in the Everett WA area need a job?

  okay...let me preface this with a huge apology if it is in poor taste to do this...but i need a few good people for some long term positions in the beautiful state of wa in the everett area.

  i have see some posts from a lot of people that are in the seattle area, and i guess that is only about 35 miles away or so?.

  any hoo, i am not going to post the details of the positions here, because i realize that this isn't a job board....but if any of you are in everett wa area and have some machine operator or other production skills, please pm me if you are interested and i will give you all the details.. again, i hope it is okay to do this...thank you all for your patience.. by the way...it rained 12 inches on wednesday night alone down here!

  Should you change yourself for the person you are with?

  It all depends on the changes.

  If your finance says you really need to work on your fashion sense, or change your socks and underwear more often...I think one should consider it hahah.

  If you are being asked to change your principles ONLY to align your beliefs along with theirs, even if you know you can never believe what they do..then NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo

  If your wife asks you to get your hair cut a few inches so it can be shorter than hers? WOULD IT KILL YOU?????

  Ooooopss....I am sorry, I thought my husband was reading this post. And no, he won't cut it...because he said if he agrees to that he thinks I will then get my hair cut a little shorter, than he would have too and than BAM he would have short hair again. The guy thinks too much.

  But on that note, I think people do try to change the ones they are with sometimes a little bit. I am trying to get my husband to eat better, so since I do most of the cooking, I won't often cook a lot of the crap he likes any more. I tell him if he wants it so bad that he will have to go get it. He is okay with that...it requires no effort on his part hahah. I did tell him early on in our relationship that I couldnt marry a smoker. He was only a lite smoker at the time and he did quit for me, within a matter of a week. But just health stuff...more on encouraging things, but not fundemental changes. I don't think it is right, and it would never work with him anyway hahah

  I think what it boils down to is that you need to really get to know a person before you decided to be with them forever...because if you cannot accept what you see forever, than move on. THANK GOD my husband has that attitude too hahaah

  What's Your Opinion Regarding Spanking A Child?

  Spankings don't work if they are given a lot, kids just ignore it. I am not talking BEATINGS here, people. But I will give my 2 year old a quick swat on the butt if she misbehaves. It is not often, and it isnt even really painful...she has a pretty thick diaper on. But she gets the point. It is not very often at all. It is more of a getting their attention thing. I rarely have to swat my 4 year old on the butt, and don't think it really is appropriate for my 6 year old, or 8 year old.

  There are some kids it works for, and some it doesn't. You cannot spank a kid everytime they do something wrong, that just is counter productive. People say there is a fine line between spanking and abuse? well, maybe we should come up with a new term, because what I call spank is not abuse...maybe I should say swatting...who knows. BUT I tell you, when MY dad spanked you...ouch...that could have been the fine line hahah. I didn't need to get spanked very often. Once a year was good enough...

  Update after talking to family services.

  i rang family services this afternoon.. the woman i spoke to was very helpful and honest.. firstly i told her i had rung because the person that abused my child had been seen by me pushing a toddler in a pram and by a friend of mine tickling and touching children at the meetings.

  i expressed how fearful i am for the children in the congo.. she wanted the pedos name, my name, my kid's name etc.

  she asked what he did to my kid and when i told her she said he was an abuser..........no kidding!

  Bliss, you have done a great deal, more than most would or could do. I may not be immidiate, but I am sure that through your efforts you have probably saved a child from this creep.
