Can anyone recommend a good book to read?

yes, that is a good book...I need to reread it.

Actually, if you are looking for fluff, Harry Potter books are fun. I am currently working on the 6th one.

"Job: A Comedy of Justice" by Robert Heinlein. I read it about 6 months or so after I left the KH. It is not religious, per se, but it made me think quite a bit about belief systems, etc.

dandelion wine is one of my favs, by Ray Bradbury.

I read CoC a few years ago. Well worth reading. I have not bothered with In Search of Christian Freedom, mostly because I am no loger any kind of Christian. I may read it someday though, because it has been spoken of very highly by people on the board.

I just finished Anthem by Ayn Rand...a bit black and white, but an interesting, if not simplistic read. I just started We the Living by her as well, but Think I am going to finish the Harry Potter book first, since I have a very bad cold and cannot handle anything too deep at the moment hahah.

jeez louueeezzz...I had no problem leaving the class or staying home. Gosh almighty...the schools down here call them winter festivals or winter feats etc...

How about "Winter Trees?" Does that sound stupid, too?

Hmmm....yes, I am being a bit silly, I agree. It just doesn't sound right the holiday trees...but that is just a matter of semantics for me, it doesn't offend me.
I hate the words panties and purse too. Don't know what to tell you...I am a freak I guess.

I agree...it is crazy...just say thank you, and add your own greeting if you so desire.

If some says to me Merry Christmas, I am going to smile and say "Thank you! And have a Happy Human Light Day!"

And in February, I will say Happy Darwin Day...which down here in TX may get me some looks, heehee. Don't forget, Happy Festivus!!!

The right wing is going nuts right now. So sad. Yes, you can keep Jesus in Christmas...just don't make everyone else forgo their holiday celebrations that have nothing to do with Jesus, thank you very much. (Not that Christmas - except for the Christ in the name- has anything to do with Christmas celebrations.)

I do agree that "Holiday Trees" just sounds stupid. But that's just me.

HOW DO U SEARCH FOR SOMEONE ON THE WEB?

how do you search for someone's contact information online?.

i have their name, city and state.

most sites charge to get their full adress and home number.

switchboard is pretty good, depending on what part of the country you are in.

Here are a few other sites I use:

www.411.com

www.anyhoo.com

http://people.yahoo.com/

Also, do you know what type of work these persons do? If so, you can search association groups, etc...you can use Google, but if a person isn't active online, and doesn't use their real name, then it may not help you much.

Also, check out networking groups such as www.Linkedin.com. If these guys are white collar, you may find they have a linkedin profile. Edited to add: that zabaresearch site is pretty cool...definately check that out...thanks for posting it

That is a very good question, and one I struggled with when I left the KH.

As an Agnostic...(I guess I am afraid of commitment hahah) I no longer need to be motivated to live my life by fear and guilt. It is a good feeling.

I just did a "talk" on Happiness Without God this past Saturday at my "church". Well, my family and I belong to a Humanist Fellowship, it is a group based on reason, not theism and belief in the supernatural. We are either agnostic or atheist. Anyhoo...I am not a great writer, nor a great speaker, but I found a very good article that addresses some of what you ask.

My "un"association letter

Audsoul...this is probably one of the best da letters I have read here. You were to the point, backed up your reasons, and said a lot without being verbose.

I think adding a legal threat it to your letter would be inconsistent with what you have already written, since you are leaving it up to them. I am not a big fan of the legal threats anyway, I see it as a waste of time, and just adding animosity to the letter. But, hey, that is just me. Everyone has their reasons for what they put in their letters.

I really admire your letter because you are not focusing on the human errors of the elders and governing body, but on thier scriptural errors/principles. You are addressing core issues to the entire organization. You are showing that your letter isn't out of any grudge because of being wronged by people in the congregation.

I hope they let you walk away as well, though I doubt. Either way, I think it is a very brave letter.
