Mincan I sent you a pm. Please take care. As for me I started therapy in my late twenties, about 20 years too late. Bouts of depression that would last weeks or months, and not a real happy camper in between, either. Seems to be partly a genetic thing from my Dad's side of the family. Therapy helped me immensely both to get me out of the depression cycle and to learn to be happy in this world. When it got extremely bad after a divorce 17 years ago, my regular therapist had a weekly support group that I joined. 5 women and 3 men from the beginning stayed in the group 3 years until we "graduated" It was awesome. Because I have a chronic thing I've gone for a lot of therapy over the years - it seems that things I learned in therapy sometimes don't really sink in until years later -better late than never. So in the past 5 years I only go to check in every 2 to 4 months and I'm good. Very cool MD/shrink who is into retraining your mind with relaxation therapy - he's kind of famous, Emmet Miller, wrote books. Lives way out in the woods half an hour from here, has the office there. Intersting stuff. OK im gonna stop now. Sorry - the caffeine's really kicking in.

So who's having therapy then?
by sweet pea ini have made an appointment to see a therapist who has been highly recommended (i don't think i would ahve taken that step, had it not been for the recommendation and that this therapist is strongly involved with a church so probably has a pretty good idea about the issues involved with cults and the like).
are any of you currently in therapy, have had it or are about to have it?
for those that have, has it helped?

the approach of this topic requires that you temporarily disconnect your emotions.
connected to the watchtower society and view this case from a different perspective.. the perspective of the thread.

It is entirely possible to be taught discipline and general good behavior with no religion at all. imho better to be a good person because you want to than because you are afraid of retribution. I think the watchtower is way too dangerous and destructive - in no way can the good in that org cancel out the bad. mrs flipper

Man I wish I could hide this thread from Mr flipper, my 22 yr old stepson and my 13 yr old nephew. I can just imagine the quality guy time this will inspire. Myself, I keep my hair long to wipe my nose. Mrs Flipper

Creepy Elder adventures
by ithinkisee inso my mom became a jw, and there is this family down the road that has been helping/brainwashing my mom.
when my dad forbade her to go to meetings she would lock herself in the bathroom and sneak out the window and the jw family down the street would take her to meetings.
the dad/elder in this jw family had been added and removed as an elder a couple of times and no one knew why.

I think I see- That is one of the creepiest stories I've heard on this site yet. It's amazing to me how arrogant and creepy some of these people get. I never liked when people would just walk right into my house either. Knock first ya know! Someone might be naked for gods sake!

The Story of Mr. & Mrs. Flipper
by flipper init was requested of someone on the board via pm to tell our story.
i'll try to keep it brief, for me that's hard.
mrs. flipper was raised catholic and got out when she was 12 because the nuns and cathlolic school teachers didn't like her independent thinking mind.

Did You See Married Couples Arguing Loud in Public,Kingdom Hall, Anywhere ?

Seeker 4 and Nvr- love you guys and your satirical humor. Brings a lot of fun to the board! I remember hearing a lot of weird sounds and screaming also coming from kingdom hall restrooms at times when going. People yelling at their kids or their physical discomforts. Nevertheless it disturbed me so I couldn't be spiritually fed properly at meetings. What we had to go through! Jeez! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Showing Concern for Posters we Haven't Heard Lately.Do You Know Some?
by flipper inmrs. flipper and i were talking about this today.
since our dear friend core 88 has been feeling downhearted, my wife and i thought who else have we not heard from lately that could use some acknowledgement to let them know we all are thinking about them?
can you folks think of some posters who might be down or need to be helped to see they are needed or cared about when we don't hear from them?

Thanks guys for showing concern for these people! I have noticed recently that a few posters have started back up who used to post regularly. Thats cool! If we can let them know they're appreciated when they post back, then maybe they won't fade away again. Personally I get a hell of a lot more appreciation on this board than I ever did in the witnesses. Even as a pioneer or Mnisterial servant

Mr. Flipper here. I know I'll get teased for this one, because I'm a blues and rock and roll guy, however I believe I must say that a couple of my favorite female singers of all time, it might be sappy, but Karen Carpenter did have a great singing voice,Celine Dion was good, Barbara Streisand was too. Most unique recognizable female singing voice? Probably Stevie Nicks. Whether it was really a good singing voice has always been up for debate

Music Fans!! Once again I Ask, What's Your Top 10 Favorite Albums?
by flipper inhello gang!
didn't think i'd let you off easy did you?

Mr. Flipper here, goin to work soon, just wanted to add I really have a good amount of best of and greatest hits albums too from some musicians because the quality of songs due to the particular musicians output is just better sometimes. You know when you buy a cd or album how many of us have been pissed when finding out we only like one song on it? But these days with listening stations and getting music off the internet and all it minimizes that

Mr. Flipper here folks. Thanks so much for all your replies. I am so thankful that someone has been looking after me and Mrs. Flipper from above or somewhere. We were determined to have a happy life in spite of some witness family members wishes to the contrary. We didn't hurt anybody when we met, we were both single and free from anybody else, so it bizarred us out when , after I had faded for 4 years that an exwife and my younger daughter would be so vindictive. Hadn't been married to the kids mom for 9 years, and she cam,e after us like that. Can I hear anybody say"Play Misty For Me"? Gawd that was a scary movie, never knew I'd have a milder version in my own life! But Mrs. Flipper and my life is peaceful now, so thats what counts. Thanks all of ya, Mr. Flipper peace out
