TINKER- Oh yes! I think someone mentioned "Princess Bride". I agree it should be on the list too. Very good example of dry humor that is qick moving with one liners galore. Some people don't get dry humor, but I like most all humor.

NINJA- Flipping hilarious man! Yeah, I've seen some pretty funny home made movies that would get you "rolling" no pun intended in the aisles. Hope your wife sees your humor too!

CHAMELEON- Will have to watch that movie.

DOBBIE- Alot of people watched Borat and got converted! It was a hilarious view of how dumb prejudiced people are and how most people are so unaware of cultural differences, that they just won't tolerate anything they don't understand or are familiar with. Very well done, very nice!!

NVR- Fletch? Wasn't that with Chevy Chase I believe? It's been so long, wife says he was a private eye? It was good too? Have to check it out

in the early 80's 1979 to 1985 i was a m/s and stepped down after having 3 kids bang, bang, bang in late 20's.

BLACK PEARL- Hello my friend. First of all love your avatar. Wife and I are big Johnny Depp fans. Anyway, I know exactly what you mean. I've seen many a dumb a$$ son or son in law of an elder get appointed just because of blood relations. Especially if you lived in a town where there were lots of relatives close together living in the area, trying to break through as someone moving into the area as a new brother reaching out was next to impossible. First cousin Jed or uncle John or Everett would always have the first pick of either a servants position, or just being used in the congregation. I remember feeling so inadequate when first moving into a new area, and people staring at you when going to your first meeting at a new hall. Then 6 months later a brother coming up saying, " Oh are you new? Haven' t had the chance to meet or talk with you. Yeah , right." That was in spite of me being outgoing. Got tired of that scene

What Positive Things Have You Achieved Since Leaving?

purps' wonderful thread about love made me wonder about something else.

what have you achieved/become since leaving the organisation that proves there is a happy, successful life outside being a jehovah's witness?

for me, although it's only been a very short time, too short to achieve much, i count becoming: non-judgemental of my fellow man; a mum that can give her kids all the room to grow and blossom without fear of 'sinning' or being kicked out for bad behaviour; a person that can feel comfortable worshipping in a church or not, depending on whatever i feel like doing; someone who can love and give freely and celebrate life in all it's glory (i just love birthdays!

Sweet Pea- I have been able to find the love of my life. Got married in October to a wonderful woman, Mrs. Flipper who fortunately is not religious like me. She has made a difference in my life and I in hers for the better, both of us. I have been able to assist my 22 year old son to go through college and now to a university thus slapping the org. in the face so to speak on their views of getting young ones higher education. Have been able to reason with my witness mom about my stands on my views of child molestation lawsuits, prejudiced views within the org. and help her to respect my fade from the org. DANNY- I know you've seen everything underthe sun, and then some. I agree , we've all seen it.

FINALLY FREE- Props to your mom then, must have been a hell of a lady. My mom is the same way. At 80 she is more into serving God , takes the elders with a grain of salt. She has her own mind, but I believe she stays in it for my dad, who has been a elder for 50 plus years. She is still a cool woman though, spunky

LOL under control

i grew up in a home where lol was dangerous.

i had three younger brothers and we all slept in the same room.

most mornings we were locked in the room until my mother or father woke up.. now 4 kids under the age of 8 in one room is a disaster in the making.

Lady Lee- So sorry you had to go through that growing up. I hope you have learned to lol and openly express your feelings more as the years have gone by. I grew up in a house where my dad was rather strict a non laughing elder where we, my brother and sisters sat around the dinner table eating quietly and conversating a little but not much, just staring at each other. Then my mom and me, the personable members of the family would break the ice and get people talking. I'm sure you've been able to laugh more since being out of the org. too. I know I do. i came here expecting to find a range of jw's and check out their beliefs and thinking.

however, what i find is largely disaffected or ex jw's and atheists etc.

with hindsight i am not that surprised either!

Or, are you a jw who is doubting you faith and sincerely want some real spiritual food which I can assure you , you will get on this board? Thanks for all your replies. I can feel the smoke coming off all your a$$e$, having been burned by the political game that is called reaching out for "privileges",more appropiately called " brown nosing."

JAGUAR- Man, I really agreed with your points. Been there done that. I agree if I'm going to kiss up it won't be to any man trying to control my relationship with God.

JAMES FREE- Politics are rampant in American congregations too, just like Cyprus congregations, believe me!

EXWITLESS- It's true exwitless that blood is thicker than water in the org. All elders sons have to do is virtually flash a smile and at 20 they are appointed ministerial servants. While brother old and faithful will put out for years and never get appointed. Not what you know but who you know.

FINALLY FREE- That is frigging hilarious!! Pretty gross humor, but I love it! But so true! Peace out all, Mr. Flipper

Moshe visits a KH today- did he walk out or was he thrown out?

i walked in about 10 minutes prior to the start of the meeting- i sure looked like an unusual visitor wearing my best jeans a golf shirt and my yarmulke.. the first brother who approached me was an slighly built late middle age guy- he gave me a big hello and extended his hand.

i pulled out my 'end of false religion tract' and showed it to him.

Moshe- Way to go my bro. You certainly do have golden steel brass ones, and whatever other metal you can think of! To go in on their own turf, awesome! It's been said the best defense is a good offense, which you showed. While you're at it, get their take on the child molestation settlements. See how scared they get then. They might just go run and hide under their seats chanting ," Help me Jehovah, Help me Jehovah" !!
