Burt Reynolds - Dead at Age 82 - Rest in Peace
by flipper inhadn't seen a thread started on this so i thought i'd start a tribute thread to one of the great actors / entertainers over the years we've enjoyed watching.
he had a wicked, dry sense of humor, especially on the johnny carson show, great acting in deliverance, so if anybody would like to share stories, you tube snippets of talk show appearances, or pieces from movies- feel free to do so !
rest in peace burt, you brought us some really cool entertainment, thanks for the memories.

Here's another really funny satire snippet of Saturday Night Live with a fake " Sean Connery " and " Burt Reynolds " playing Celebrity Jeopardy - pretty hilarious.

WASANELDER- Thanks for the youtube, great stuff, pretty funny. He and Dom Deluise were really great together. Yeah, he had a dry, self deprecating sense of humor that the unobservant eye would think is conceited, thinking it was being smarmy, however the fact that he kept a poker face and didn't smile when being funny, made it that much better. lol.
Here's another earlier appearance on the Johnny Carson show when he made Deliverance :

Do you like to experiment when cooking?
by Xanthippe injust lately i've become weary of following recipes in books or online.
recently when on holiday in the lake district i wanted to make pasta with a tomato and cheese sauce but the only interesting cheese they had at the local store was a somerset brie.
i discovered when peeled of its skin and tossed in with tomatoes and pasta it melts beautifully and tasted amazing.

Nice thread Xanthippe, thanks for posting ! I do a lot of cooking as well, love to experiment.
Several things me and my wife enjoy - BBQing salmon on the grill after marinating in Very Very terriyaki sauce for about an hour or so. Very tasty.
I love making my infamous country fried potatoes for breakfast - slice organic golden yellow potatoes up good, kind of thin, from the garden I add in fresh basil cut up, green onions, rosemary, or sometimes red onions, slice up a little zucchini squash, add in sharp cheddar cheese, add a little soy sauce, a little Pepper plant spicy sauce, or a jalapeno pepper, add lemon pepper , and cook for about 45 minutes or so turning the potatoes often and a little longer if you want them crispy. But cook it at medium to low heat on the burner.
Here's a recipe I just did for a second time for me and my wife for dinner :
Called Shrimp & Zucchini pasta ! Ingredients are :
7 ounces shelled shrimp, 2 zucchini squash sliced in thin rounds, 9 ounces of cream cheese, 1 lemon zested and cut in half, squeeze half in the pasta, other half just cook in. 1 small bunch of dill and 1 vegetable stock cube in a large saucepan . Add 9 ounces whole wheat spaghetti, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon each of salt and pepper, and 3 cups of water. Cook about 15 to 20 minutes over medium, stirring often. About one quarter inch of cooking liquid should remain at the end. Serves 4 . It was enough for 2 nights worth of dinner for me and my wife. It's really delicious ! Give it a try !
So these are a few recipes I've been workin ' on. Thanks for starting the thread ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Agression @ latest Broadcasting
by Gorbatchov inwhat i don’t get, is the agression seen in the latest, september broadcasting.. if something is not usefull here at g.’s home, we look if it can be used for an other purpose or store it or put it away in a trash bin.
that’s what we learn our children.. it seems that for jw.org officials it is practice to get very angry and smash items on the floor.
somehow the real face of brotherhood is showed here.

In a strange kind of way I hope the WT leaders keep broadcasting crazy shit like this on their website so as to possibly shock some JW's who might be sitting on the fence about TTATT so more JW's will jump off to the freedom of mind side of the issue. So yes GB- by all means , keep letting psycho's like Lett and this latest freak keep presenting the broadcast's ! You're actually doing your followers a favor exposing your crazy leaders. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

What a fucking idiot this guy is, good god. I felt like taking that glass and breaking it over his bald egg shaped dome. Stupid ass. I agree with other posters it's an extremely ignorant way of using fear to scare JW's into not going to college by breaking the glass at the end. What a perverse thing to do ! Even more perverse to say that higher education is useless and good for nothing . This WT organization is criminal and stealing away young JW's future's one by one. Sick stuff. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

DECEMBER 2018 WATCHTOWER STUDY ARTICLE...Many loyal Christians have remained with an unbelieving mate under very trying circumstances.
by RULES & REGULATIONS indecember 2018 study article :.
honor “what god has yoked together”.
17 admittedly, there have been instances where an “unbelieving husband” seems to prove that he is not “agreeable to staying with her.” he might be extremely physically abusive, even to the point that she feels that her health or life is in danger.

It's disgusting how the WT Society STILL after all these years crosses over personal boundaries in which they have no business or authority to cross over .
One of the reasons I left the JW organization over 15 years ago was because I was in an abusive marriage with a methamphetamine addicted wife who the elders told me I should get back together with. This woman was violent, angry, and SHE left me- I did not leave her- she wanted out so she could continue being a tweeker doing her drugs. She was a dangerous person for my then teenage children to be around.
In spite of that fact- the elders in my congregation told me I should get back with her even though this soon to be ex-wife was refusing to have 2 of my JW children visit us at the house. And the elders told me I should visit my JW children at a neutral park to accomodate this drug addict wife's wishes. They said it was a GOOD thing that my wife wanted to get back with me, in spite of her treatment of my JW children.
I essentially told the elders they were crazy, and asked them what the source of their counsel was ? That's when I saw that JW elders are more concerned about " outward appearances " in congregations , than anybody actually being content and happy - even if it puts your children at risk. When I saw the elders didn't care about my then teenage children, I said to myself " screw this " and before a meeting I got my books off my seat and walked out the kingdom hall door never to go back. The blinders had come off my eyes and I had my awakening to TTATT. Best decision I ever made to leave that crap. Peace out,
