I read "Diet for a new America"
I was thinking of reading this myself. John Robbins seems an interesting guy - the heir to the Baskin Robbins chain who has turned his back on big business.

Finally Free
The response was to consume lean meat
I suggest that you read a book called the China Study. It argues that there are absolutely no health benefits to eating meat over eating a plant based diet. Of the so-called 'essential' elements of our diets, that is amino acids and protiens that we as humans cannot produce in our own bodies, only vitamin B12 is problematic and this can be obtained from dairy or yeast based products.

Rice production and composting both create methane too, as does hydroelectric power production.
What is interesting with this though is that modern 'bio-digestors' can be configured to create natural gas that can be out straight into the gas supply. It is a bit trickier to do that with cows and sheep!
But I do agree that over-population is a huge issue.

assumptions .... cessation of animal food consumption would "save the planet."
I totally agree - the situation is far more complex than that. But with an ever growing world population and ever increasing carbon emmissions, we probably shouldn't be sitting back and doing nothing. Hence, I title the topic as a question not an instruction.

Meat is Murder
It is said that a pig has the IQ equivalent to a 3 year old human child. As Cameron Diaz said, "that's like eating my niece".

Let’s face it
So would you become veggie to save the planet?
sorry if this has been posted before but what do we know about the true faith jehovah's witnesses?
are they only in romania?
how do their numbers compare to actual jws?.
due to persecution in Romania, lost all contact with the WTBTS some time in the late 50's or early 60's. They just re-studied the literature they had on hand, over and over and over again.
I remember when I was in 'experiences' of isolated groups who just studied the Bible and then later found that their beliefs totally tallied with the JWs.
Strange isn't it that this group did much the same thing and found it was the JWs who had drifted away.

oh ok did that then turn into the watchtower?
I think we are going off topic here. The history of the JWs is well documented on this site. What I am not sure about is this break away group.
in the days before 'simplification', the days of 3 day circuit assemblies (fri evening plus sat & sun), when we used have catering departments that cooked and served up hot meals, we also used to have circuit orchestras.. i must say ours was pretty poor though, only matched by the lacklustre singing.. eyeslice.
(bee in his bonnet since mrs eyeslice went to singing practice at local kh on sunday evening).
I'd love to hear a rendition of "We're Jehovah's Witnesses" on the kazoo.
How about 'Lazarus Lay Sleeping' - that would be a hoot.
