  any of you die in the great armageddon of 1975?

  i was an apostate 4 years prior to this marvelous date...... wonder why someone saw fit to keep me alive til today?

  my boy is giving his first bible reading on the main platform tomorrow.....i want to show him i am proud of him for standing up in front of everyone doing his best.....but at the same time i dont ever want to go back to that den of iniquity...he he.....what should i do.....p.s i think i already know....so talk me out of it

  Show him that your tie to him is stronger than anything that they can put between you.

  Brief excerpt:

  In a period marked by state opposition to their doctrines between the 1930s and the 1950s (particularly in Europe and North America), the Witnesses needed to maintain their exclusivity in order to re-establish their universal collective identity and to detach themselves from orthodox Christianity. The blood prohibition enabled them to do just this.

  The Witnesses’ refusal of blood is analogous with Jewish dietary laws - it affirms the view that sacrifice is part of the price of membership, thus strengthening the Society’s internal cohesion.

  From a sociological perspective, blood is a powerful symbol of allegiance for the Witnesses simply because it is unimportant to other faith communities.

  in nigeria, a bus carrying mostly jehovah's witness women, collided with a large truck on a return trip from a wedding ceremony.

  24 died; doctors at a hospital are trying to save 13 others.

  a producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.

  this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.

  in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.

  The information about the home was provided in several documents that all supplemented each other. The statement of purpose and service user’s guide
  between them contained the required details. In addition, the home provided a brochure that explained the religious nature of the home and the religious
  principles that the home implemented following the wishes of service users.

  These documents were displayed in the entry hall that itself was arranged in a homely way with religious symbols clearly identifying that the home was a
  place where Jehovah’s witnesses lived.

  Service users felt very comfortable in this environment that met their cultural and religious needs.

  much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.

  however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

  This seems like a good place to say that I bought some new shoes the other day (my old ones looked like Cornish Pasties !!).

  Hope Ms Emo's studies are going well.

  Something in brewing, ever get that feeling ? You know, the one where you know that events are conspiring to make something happen... but you're not sure what it is ? It has to be near bursting point now... so I wonder what it is.

  Charles met with them. At the close of the meeting the list of questions

  were returned to him with the admission that no satisfactory solution to these could be found.

  Later at a church meeting he requested a letter of dismissal, stating his reasons for withdrawing

  from church fellowship. About this time he had a very strange dream, and although he was not at

  all superstitious, not a believer in signs, dreams, etc., being extremely practical, yet this dream

  strangely impressed him. In his dream he seemed confined in an underground passage and stifled

  as with gases. Upon seeking an exit, he started toward a tiny yet the only visible light. He,

  however, found his progress impeded by prostrate bodies, seemingly dead, but upon examination

  he discovered they were merely stupefied with these same gases. He awoke, and feeling much

  impressed by this dream sought its significance, until finally this thought dawned upon him:

  Could it be that these were all stupefied by the same gases (doctrinal errors) from which he was

  awaking? Could it possibly be that God was awakening him first, and that his life’s work was to

  awaken and help release others? He determined to seek further knowledge, remembering the

  Lord’s words, "Seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you." From that time

  onward so devoted was he to the Lord’s service that he spent all of his leisure time in mission

  work and conducting Bible studies, etc. About 1874 the true mode of Baptism and its import was

  discerned by him, and he and father, together with a number of others, including myself,

  symbolized our baptism into Christ by water immersion.
