Now with the Vista HELL that has been put on us, I am sorry I ever even started down this road. I WANT to do video editing. To attempt to get programs to actually RUN you have to be one hell of a diagnostitian and spend hours and hours and hours NOT doing what you WANT to do.

I spent a whole weekend playing around with a NEW piece of software for video editing that claimed to be Vista Compatible. Guess what ?

It wasn't ! Much as I loathe calling tech support or e-mailing them. I did - only to be told that it wasn't ever going to work and that I needed to buy the new version ?

January '08 "Keep on the Watch" brochure campaign cancelled

i heard that a notice was sent to all boe this month removing "keep on the watch" as the featured january campaign.. can i get confirmation from anyone?.

that computer was also called the TS1000 (Timex Sinclair)....it had what 1K onboard...did you have the 16K memory pack that plugged into the back? If you moved the computer, the pack came undone.... and saving programs to a cassette player was time consuming.
no colour and as far as I remember, no sound either and definately no hard drive.
nope, if i recall it was white background with black letters (or maybe thats how i had it set up)... but I made that thing sing... it had sound...but only if you routed it from the computer through the speakers of the cassette player...I used a machine language program to enter music...if you can call Kingdom Melodies music?! it was tinny but recognizable

I think that you are right.

I remember the dodgy expansion pack, I stuidily thought that it was some sort of storage at the time - akin to a memory stick today. I was so miffed after I'd spent what felt like an evening typing in some program or other, only to find it vanished after a reset !!

I remember plugging code into it.. I think it was a variant of BASIC and machine code.

I didn't advance to the audio stage of it - but then I was only 7 at the time

after finding this forum and being raised in the jw religion, i found jwd a refreshing place for honest feelings, fears, life experiences etc.. the history of the jw's was exposed, and those who lived any experience under this regime has been told by many members.. to be lied to by any forum member is insulting.

i have over my past year and 1/2 come to love many posters.

i realize many more have much longer time put in here.. i have been honest and exposed more of my self than i care to think about, but always kept in mind that others were doing the same and it was best for anyone new.. to lie on this forum to all of these members is horrible and i am questioning why i am so honest here.

You have offered nothing but critisicm, not even constructive criticism at that. You have no clue what empathy is, you just want to attack people who have different religious and political views as yourself.

I have only read a few of these pages, but even though other posters may have said this, I feel compelled to say it too.

I have different religious views to NVR, yet he has nothing but respect for my views, as I do for his.

He has encouraged both believers and non-believers alike here - myself included.

Trying the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (RC - Build 6001)

i work in the it field which means i'm able to get my hands on samples and pre-release products for review and testing.

today i installed the windows vista service pack 1 (release candidate).

the final version is scheduled for public release around february 2008.. first to answer the question that a lot of you are wondering: why did i upgrade to vista to being with?

I had that problem whilst downloading files.

I found that if the download speed was not restricted (ie many threads downloading simultaneously) then after a while, the computer would lose it's connection despite my router still being connected.

The only thing that would sort it out was a reboot.

I think it has something to do with flooding your OS with too many TCP/IP connections.

Are you running any fileshare programs ?

I had Vista recently, for the same reason - that it came pre-installed with a new computer.

I had it for 3 months (ish) then dumped it and reinstaled XP.

Does the new service pack do anything to help backwards compatability issues ? I had my entire mp3 collection renamed by a prog because apparantly vista handles ID3 tags differently to XP ? Not to mention all the aggro that Vista caused me with Adobe.

Personally, I'd be happy to have an OS that didn't let windows steal focus!! That is THE thing that annoys me most about both OSs

There is a tweak in TWEAK UI for XP that allows you to prevent any window from stealing focus - maybe there is a similar thing for Vista ?

A Sinclair ZX81 - no colour and as far as I remember, no sound either and definately no hard drive.
