The World Has Ended !!

i'm working on some old watchtowers at the moment and saw this from russell's era:.

don't worry about reading all the scanned material.

i haven't hightlighted these but skim through for the world "world has ended" (it doesn't feature in the first scan).

Jan 1st 1906

In 1927 (as far as I can work out), this changed to :

Feb 1st 1927

So it is revealed that the world has ended (under Rutherford's control).

However, in Nov 15th 1942 it has changed to this (note that the "TO US" has been removed from "The Sctriptures Clearly Teach" :

However, the fact still remains that the world has ended.

In Dec 1st 1943, it changed to the following :

So now the OLD world ended in 1914 !

This carries on until the last edition of 1949... then as we enter the realm of the Watchtower Library on CD, it ceases (unless I am not searching properly).

Maybe this is why the pre-1950 Watchtowers are not on the CD ???

My thoughts on the Nature of God

Doesn't that mean that grace is a gift rather than faith ?
Wouldn't you then be able to boast about your faith?

I wouldn't have thought so "faith" is not a work as the passage denounces "works".

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Works is the thing that one could boast about. According to this passage, FAITH is merely the conduit for receiving the GRACE - as opposed to some that were working for salvation.

Eph 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

Doesn't that mean that grace is a gift rather than faith ?

Can we PLEASE stop calling bs on people unless we KNOW them?

someone just called "bull$h*t" on a sick poster.

i'm getting really, really fed up with the petty witch hunts and hall monitoring.

fed up, i almost don't want to be on here anymore.

Everyone needs to ease up a bit on people - especially newbies otherwise we will end up becoming "The Cult of JWD" that vets everyone before admission.

What are we trying to achieve ? A safe-haven just like own Kingdom Hall, protected from the evil system outside ?

The internet will never be a "safe place".

General caution about people on here is one thing (as the recent Trevor situation proves) even if they have been on here for sometime BUT pouncing on everything that isn't a typical post is overkill.

We are a varied bunch of people and therefore have a varied bunch of life-events happening to us.

It is the job of a moderator to "police" the forum to remove illegal posts and things that may generally slander someone. This forum has 11 specific rules that the mods enforce - (well 12 plus a catchall rule). It is not the job of a moderator to ensure that everyone is who they say they are and that their stories are true.

I don't get the problem with people coming on here and spinning a yarn. I don't get it - I really don't... so what if someone is logging in under a different name ? There is a good deal of difference between a "Troll" (someone coming on just to put the cat among the pigeons) and someone that posts under an alias for other reasons.

Isn't it the same as meeting people at a party - you have no real way of knowing if they are genuine or not - but you don't suddenly shout "LIAR" at their face... you simply "log it" in your head... and save it for later. WHEN THERE IS PROOF.
